When we talk about games, we refer to them as being AAA (9.0 or 9.5), AA (8.0 or 8.5), and so on.

Here's the problem, people keep talking about how the PS3 has caught up in AAAE's, or how the 360 has almost caught up in AAAE's for this year or whatever. I think though that a game that gets 9.5 should be better than a game that gets 9.0. Instead we just categorize it as being AAA. For instance, Uncharted 2 got 9.5, Halo 3: ODST got 9.0. Now I personally am a Halo fan, so I enjoyed ODST just as much as Uncharted 2. However, it should count for something when a game gets 9.5. It seems stupid to me to say Killzone 2is as good as Halo 3(which is said on almost a daily basis) when Halo 3 was reviewed higher.

I'm not defending or criticizing anything or anyone. I'm just saying that the .5 difference should be noted and count for something.

I think the PS3 had the better year this year, but though it's caught up in AAAE, it doesn't have as many 9.5 games as the 360.

Do we really have to go with Aa, AAa, and AAAa system now? That would be annoying

It would be better to summarize the exact points of both consoles and then compare numbers instead of letters then?

I like your idea, but it isn't practical to have that type of nomenclature.

I think that would be going too far. A 9.0 and a 9.5 aren't nearly as differen't as a 7.0 and an 8.0.

I think that the difference, whatever it is, is pretty much immaterial. Sure, Uncharted 2 may be a bit better than ODST, but does it really matter? Really?

I don't think the lack of precision is a big loss. Adding more categories would just make things more confusing, and then we'd have to deal with silly arguments about how X number of 9.0s are equivalent to Y number of 9.5s.

However, I think it would be interesting to add up all of the AA-AAAA titles each console has and get a number score for each console. It might not be the best way to judget hough, becuase the difference between a 3 and a 4 is different from the huge gap between a 7 and an 8.

The biggest flaw, imo is that different AAAEs mean different things to different people. Some people might take Halo alone over Little Big Plannet, Uncharded, and Metal Gear Solid.

....and DLCs shouldn't be regarded as being of the same caliber as full-fledged games.

...and older games held in today's standards would not have achieved those scores.

...and AAAEs aren't the only good games out there. That goes for both AAAs and exclusives.

System Wars itself is flawed, that's why the war never ends.

The biggest flaw is that 10 is AAAA, 9.5 is AAA, 9.0 is AAA, and 8.5 is AA and 8.0 is AA.

In the end, it's one critic's opinion so shrug it off. :P
