I own a WII, DS, PS3 and a gaming PC.

One thing that stands out to me is the following; Now it doesn't apply to everyone because everyone doesn't work in IT like me and I understand computers are not as easy as consoles.

However, it took about 1 month for my WII's graphics chip to Fry and about 1 1/2 months for my Ps3 to start clanking like a garbage truck on a bumpy road (tonight actually).

Now with my PC if ANYTHING breaks I can most likely fix or replace it myself. This is not the case with consoles. Luckily I was within 90 days and target just gave me a new PS3. My Wii took a couple weeks to get back.

Still we PC gamers need to be thankful for the fact that when something goes bad its generally easy to replace ourselves.

and with warranty, like my eVGA lifetime warranty, which even permits aftermarket coolers and overclocking. I wanna see any of the consoles match that. same with my ram and my mobo has a 5 year warranty.

I will agree that eVGA is a fantastic company. Most of my PC parts are eVGA; however, I just don't bother with PC gaming any more, it's too much of a hassle.

how's that? IMO it has really been streamlined, especially with STEAM and auto-patching. Driver installations are very easy, and so far not one game gave me problems.

Graphics aside, the main thing that PC has over any console is: easier aiming, more keys to use(meaning faster inputs and more inputs), the ability to type faster.

You are correct for the most part. This is just something I've been experiencing, personally. I had significant problems with Fallout 3 and other games to the point where I gave up and bought the graphically inferior console versions. I'm thinking about coming back to PC gaming and just sticking with STEAM only.

I can't argue against that. Steam is great in that it takes care of some stuff that you really shouldn't have to do yourself (patching your game, finding your friends regardless of what they're playing). I'd be a lot happier if all games just integrated with it and it became a shell replacement for Windows (using gamepad or mouse, your choice, to navigate).

With my new gaming PC, I am getting right back into the action, and am loving it. However, consoles will always have the tiny advantage to me over PCs because of some of the precautions you have to take with the PC, along with different things going wrong.

I've actually heard a variation of that idea before. It was something along the line of STEAM releasing its own branded PC and having its own integrated UI. It's a great idea to streamline PC gaming, to be honest.

Yes I agree, it's easy to replace PC parts if something goes wrong. Plus most my parts have like 5 years warranty, which is longer than the life of the part itself probably. I love PC gaming because I love mods =)

never really thought about PC like that. i'm not good with PC. when i put in my new video card do i find out the powersupply that wa laying around was dead. it is great that we can repair them, 360 especially has problems that we need to spend like a month without when it is getting repaired.

The consoles are a one piece system. If it breaks buy a new one. Like the PC being Upgradeable. It just depends how much you want to pay. $$$$

I totally agree, if your gpu fries itself just take it out and put in the new one you got on your way home from work, can't do that with a console, you either have to buy a new one or wait weeks for them to fix it.

I love working with PCs and upgrading. I took my refurbed hp (pretty cheap route) and added a psu, gpu, and some ram :D. I find it cool to look inside and see how everythings connected and whatnot.

One MAJOR advantage that the PC has is its backwards compatability and how pretty much every newer PC can play 3-4 year old games. To non PC gamers, any new PC game is a new, fresh experiance.

Um I take care of my systems. Video Card overheating in a month and fan dying in 2 months is pretty extreme I admit. But it doesn't mean I didn't take care of it

PC has a few MAJOR advantages over consoles imo.

1.Much better graphics and sound are possible if you have a great soundcard and videocard

2. Mods - User made content for games, there is plenty.

3. More options for controls - Keyboard and mouse, older controllers, newer controllers,etc..

4. CRYSIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. The best collection of older games.

6. Cost barely anything to replace one part of hardware (ram dies? 40$ to replace,etc..).

You are using a computer right now to post, that means you are already putting up with 99% of the "hassle" anyways. That point isn't really valid.

Tweakguides is your friend. They have a guide that shows you every conceivable way to tweak that games settings. It helped me out a lot.

I expanded my FOV, tweaked the damage so that shots to a particular body part actually meant something, fixed the sound, etc...It's made the game so much better than the console versions.

I thought this was going to be a thread about RAM. IMO thats the only thing really separating the 360/PS3 from a PC these days (the Wii is in its own lil world). Gaming PCs are naturally RAM heavy to operate the OS and the high-end game...IF consoles were to get half of what a gaming has it would be a beast for devs to play with terms of game design and performance.

Just give me a console with a decent CPU/GPU and about 2gigs of unified RAM for a competiive price and I would be a happy camper.

Game On...

Unless you have Vista, in which case trying to play an older game has you jumping through all kinds of loops to get it running properly (*cough* KotOR *Cough*). But yeah, other than the minor annoyances PC gaming FTW. :)

What does that have to do with anything? I started to replace parts of my computer when I was around 12. An average trained chimp could do it. You don't have to work "in IT" for that.

Wait wait, you're really using that old argument? Despite the countless "you need to upgrade every 6 months" threads that have been proved wrong time and time again by hermits lol. Try reading a little lol.

My current rig was built 2 years ago, barely a month and a half after my 360. Its a Q6600, 8800GTS 320MB, ASUS P5N32-SLI with 2 GB Ram. It still just about maxes every game that comes out (at 720p) except for Crysis and Stalker CS. The games coming out this year, will run beautifully on it if not maxed. Over the next 2 years it will still run every game that comes out. I bet it will still run every game that comes out over the following 2 years after that!!

So please, stop with the having to upgrade nonsense we're sick to death of explaining is wrong!

I've never had any parts on PC or console break.

I take care of my stuff.

Many PC advantages over consoles. Upgradeability, KB/Mouse, Mods, larger community/better community (who likes 12 year olds anyway), largest library of AAA/AA exclusives every year, largest library of games, best graphics by far, 99% of the time has the superior version of any multiplat title, etc.

99% better mutliplats? No its more like 1% better multiplats, that 1% being a Valve game. 99% of the other time, the PC port is buggy and requires much stronger hardware than necessary.

Theres still plenty of other things wrong with your fanboyism. consoles get the most demanded games for instance. But anyway theres no point in tryin to change your mind.

Yep. multiplat developers should just stay away from the PC. They're just wasting their time and just concentrate on making games on the console where the money is.

GTAIV, Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, Dead Space, Gears of War (1), etc. all are superior on PC.

Fanboyism? Nope, just stating facts. You're going to claim that only 1% of all multiplats are superior on PC yet you're going to call me a fanboy? Simple fact is that these games i listed look far better on PC as well as having more players in multiplayer in alot of aspects (GTAIV 32 player online, TF2 32 online on PC, etc.). I would argue KB/Mouse but that's a matter of preference and i'm betting you prefer autoaim to KB/Mouse.

Consoles get the most demanded games? According to whom? Last i saw the most played game is World of Warcraft. Not to mention heavily hyped games like SC2, Empire Total War, Project Offset (PC exclusive), etc. By most demanded do you mean Madden games? Cause i'll give you that one. You have no gauge for any of your claims but the fact remains that most games that are multiplat look far superior on PC as well as having mod support, more players online, and better controls. You're wrong, to put it plainly. As you are obviously a console fanboy there is obviously no point in trying to change your mind as well. I own a PS3 and a 360 and while i've only owned 3 consoles since I started gaming in 1990, i do own 2 of the current gen ones. PC by far outpaces them in every category.

Yet they don't because *gasp* they make money off of selling games on PC. Now isn't that ironic? The same multiplat developers you're trying to give your little advice to keep making PC games because the PC is profitable. Case in point: Battlefield Bad Company sold terribly on console and it was console exclusive. It didn't even sell as much as Battlefield 2 did as a PC exclusive (upping around 3 million). Hence, Bad Company 2 is going to be on PC. Now isn't that ironic?

Honestly, money is in every platform. You're ignorant to think otherwise.

In bizarro world. However The Orange Box and L4D are still better on the computer.

Simple fact is that these games i listed look far better on PC

Graphics are nice, but lets not be shallow gamer here, they play signifacantly worse.

as well as having more players in multiplayer in alot of aspects (GTAIV 32 player online, TF2 32 online on PC, etc.).

1. http://www.gamespot.com/features/6202552/index.html Those games look far superior on PC. Bizzaro world = Real world apparently because each looks and plays better on PC.

2. Play significantly worse? It's quite clear that you have played none of those games on PC. I mean, you're honestly going to argue that Fallout 3 plays worse on PC than the other platforms? Amazing, apparently your ignorance knows no bounds. Ask anyone who has played all 3 versions (i have) and they will tell you the PC version is far superior in every way.

All you've proven here is that you have played none of those games on PC. I could also mention Bioshock which is far superior on PC but of course, you haven't played that on PC i'm certain. CoD4 and CoDWaW are also far superior on PC for all the reasons i mentioned up there. I can go on and on. Alas, i won't, as it would be pointless trying to prove that all those games i listed are superior on PC because it simply is true. I think most on these forums would agree with me as do the reviews of the games. How about Mass Effect? AAA on PC and AA on 360. :)

Sure the games look better on PC granted you have the proper hardware, but that doesnt change the fact the games were built with the consoles in mind and better optimized for them. You mention CoD4 but thats kinda funny since it looked better at release and plays better on the 360.

Anywhow you should be on the PC board, not System Wars
