Normally in online games (on the PSN), about 1/5 of players actually have mic's....Microsoft was very very smart in bundeling a mic with thier system. The fact that XBL is full of people with mic's just makes the whole experience feel better. Playing FPS's on PSN is rediculous. Very little strategy and comunication during public games. Any thoughts?

Yeah I agree. While some people are annoying, I think the addition of mics is better.

I concur with this. Bundling a mic with the PS3 makes more since then charging 60 bucks for their name brand one. (i got the madcatz one, 30.00, bobo. lol). Well I can't really make an argument with this one. All i got on you is free online. But buying Blu-ray movies makes up for the 50 with a golds membership. So yea. lame.

I don't have a PS3 so I can't really say anything, but I love that MS put a headset with the 360. About 30 of my friends that I know in real life have a 360, so all of them have a headset. The first thingI do when I turn on my 360 is either jion a party with my friends, or start on myself and invite my friends. As for actually using the headset to discuss tactics or something, it usually doesn't work.

People wouldn't let you play if you don't have mic. I get kick all the time for not using my mic.

Mics to me are annoying as hell. Unless it's a game that requires a real team effort, I find them to be useless.

Ok, so if sony starts including Mics, then it will become the garbage that is XBL communication, are you aware of how much pointless bashing/swearing and other things are? Plus, I will be hearing more little kids arguing with their parents about when to get out (true story)

One good thing about the ps3 mic support is that it'll support any bluetooth mic.

On the negative side I don't think that psn's audio quality is as good as XBL. I barely understand anybody on psn, and letting people change their pitch doesn't help the cause one bit.

Have you played on PSN recently? Half of the people with mic's are little kids who used the pitch change fuction to make themselves sound like chpmunks or the devil. It is 10 times more annoying than anything I have ever heard on XBL.

voice chat just does not work that well on psn. I bought two nice blue tooth headsets in the begining, but i gave up trying to voice chat on psn a long time ago. If i could chat clearly and reliably, and set up a private chat with friends on psn...i would. But i cant, so i dont.

You don't make sense, my point is that it only matters that your friends have mics to me, you then state that you only have two friends on PS3. How is this relative? Is it that they don't have mics and you would like to make friends but cannot as other do not have mics or something?

Of course you can mute out the annoying people on both platforms. The difference is that when you do that onXbox Liveyou are still leftwitha large amount of people who actually use the mic properly cause everyone owns one. On the PSN you may not be so lucky cause not everyone has one.

I agree. Sure you might occasionally get an annoying player but most of the time you won't. Mics are essential for team strategy.

I play a lot of Halo 3 custom games. I get so many laughs from people I have just met that I would probably not get if mics were not bundled with the console. So I don't understand the argument that mics are only useful with friends. That argument is just retarded to me. I've met a lot of cool people on Xbox Live that I like to play games with.

i only play kz2, socom confrontion (now that 1.5 patch is out... its smooth as butter) and r2 online and sometimes bf1943, and only r2 have i had a problem where most if not all the people playing dont have mics (in competative anyways... co-op either everyone has a mic or next to no one does) i used to play cod4 and bout half had mics, either way only socom and kz2 are tactical enough to warrent everyone needing a headset (which about 80 percent of the people do) so everything else i dont really bother unless im playing with a friend

Rarely anybody strategizes when your not friends. Mics are generally annoying as hell. But MS did do a great job with bundling them, better to have the option to use mics then not. Also, people do use mics on PS3, not everybody, but a good amount do use it. I find that people with mics on a ps3 bought mics because they enjoy communication, as opposed to the 360 where any baboon child is given a mic. Of course, all of this is speculation, and ultimately, Sony should have bundled their mic into the new slim models. Missed opportunity Sony,

Depends on the game. I can't stand listening to 12yr olds when I'm playing M games, I generally mute them all anyways (no offense to the 12yr olds but your voices are very annoying). Sometimes in COD:W@W there's me & one other guy, sometimes the room is full of people with mics but I generally find that I'm less annoyed on PSN as I am XBL for that reason alone. I do find it kind of strange though, seeing as how any USB headset works on PS3, and since it supports bluetooth any BT earpieces as well, IDK if most people probably don't realize that since who doesn't have one or the other in the house?
