Online PC games. Why ??% of them are worse than the PS3 version.

Just to clarify I only used the PS3 in the title because I own just a PC and a PS3 so I don't want to talk about systems without having experience on them.

A very dark side to lot of PC games is very real and oddly ignored on these forums.

Hacks and cheats - I don't want to post links to sites that show them but just type something likeblack ops 2 hacks into goggle and see the replies. See how many PC down-loadable hacks there are compared to console altering hacks.

To me playing on equal terms is far more important than pretty graphics.

Yeah, most PC Games are full of hacking scum, its a sad sad situation.

Yes, there are plenty of hacks for PC games. But it's not difficult to avoid hackers because most PC games have dedicated servers. All it takes is finding a good server or two to frequent where the admins are active.

Communities grow up around certain servers and pretty soon you know most of the people who play on said server. Admins will often give out rcon (remote control) to regular players to help police the servers.

Having said that, and having my favorite servers that I frequent, I can honestly say it's been a while since I ran into a hacker, and when I do they aren't around for more than a few minutes.

This isn't consoles where you have to play with whatever strangers it puts you with.

You're implying all pc games has competitive multiplayer?

I don't come across many myself (anecdotal), and I don't come across many on consoles (more anecdotes). So i'm not worried about it.

Not only that, but PC multiplayer is almost exclusively based around dedicated servers that are actually run by the community, and hackers will get banned immediately.

With that said I think I've seen maybe one hacker this entire generation. People don't hack that often because they can't get away with it on the PC anymore.

pc hackers= you can combat them back and piss them off...

ps3/360 hackers = your F**ked. your butt will hurt... GL hoping activision fixed anything. SHOOT it took activision a minimally 8 months to begin to fix mw2.... and i think we all they brought in a BILLION DOLLARS and suposely they still TOO POOR to do anything...

I've run into more hackers on Live than I have on PC.

If anything I experienced more hackers on xboxlive than I ever have on PC. PC has dedicated servers with player admins, so if you play on trusted servers you'll rarely have to worry about hackers, and only for a moment even if you do. On xboxlive if you run into a hacker your best bet is to just leave the game, hope your report gets noticed, and complain, because there are no dedicated servers and you can't do anything to avoid hackers.

Back when I had my own Counter-Strike server, I used to rebind the hacker's mouse1 to "exit". So as soon as they joined a game and clicked, they'd be back at their desktop!

PC Hackers are everywhere. The worse ones are those who hide their hacks to pretend as "pro" aka ban dodgers.

Hackers are extremely rare in my experience in the few thousands hours I've played online games on PC I've barely run into any hackers its hardly a big deal at all.

I once joined a server on Counter Strike Source where the walls were covered in GIF's of pr0n. After 4 hours of that filth I got sick of it and disconnected

I've been playing PC online games for years, and rarely run into cheaters. The problem isn't really the cheaters, which can be dealt with if the devs put some thought into it. The problem is this : for every cheater I've encountered, I've run into 10 times as many idiots and sore losers (your PC equivalents, maybe, ShadowMoses) who whine each time they lose and shriek "cheaaaaat! Haaaaack" when they get owned. I remember being accused of cheating dozens of times when playing Supreme COmmander : Forged Alliance, by noobs who couldn't believe it was possible to get out-spammed so fast.

If someone hacks on a console game nobody can do anything.

I've been called a hacker for using audio cues in l4d2 to find and kill a Jockey

I found BF3 to be much worse on PC than on PS3 (haven't played it on 360). It was laggier and there were more glitchers/hackers in general.

Servers would be better if they had settings to only allow people within a certain window of pings to join, but most of them don't.
