The servers powering OnLive are no doubt much, much more powerful than the PS Vita.

These pictures here prove that quite well.

PS Vita

OnLive

To be fair, I only posted screenshots of games that are actually playable with touch controls. DiRT 3 supports touch, but in my opinion, the game is absolutely unplayable.

These screens were taken with my Atrix over a wifi connection.

It definitely looks better than those Vita screenshots. If OnLive is usable with the Xperia Play, you could arguably get a better experience than with the Vita, assuming that you have a fast enough connection for it to work.

Vita's big draw is power and "better graphics" over the 3DS. These OnLive games clearly crush that.

You're comparing PC games that're running on OnLive to PS Vita now? If they're not better than PS Vita even, why would anyone ever go for OnLive? OnLive on mobile phones and PS Vita/3DS cannot overlap each other, if you get what I mean. OnLive needs a constant internet connection, and in the case of mobile, a WiFi connection. Consider a long train ride. Which would you use?

Yep I edited my post.

(Does research)

http://onlivefans.com/news/onlive-on-the-xperia-play-unofficial-app-makes-it-work/5807/

The gamepad is supported unofficially.

So you don't *have* to use OnLive with touch-screen controls if you have the right phone.

Now that would be a great idea. No reason why they can't make it work, right? Then, for a mobile gamer with a proper connection, Xperia Play with OnLive would be a real treat. :D But otherwise, OnLive =

Of course I play them. I actually bought Lego Harry Potter to play on my phone, not my PC. And one day, developers will make games designed for mobile devices from the ground up using OnLive's hardware. That's what Steve Perlman (CEO of OnLive) wants to see happen.

What he wants to see happen and what may actually happen are light years away from each other.

I'll admit that it is certainly coming along, it just isn't anything that I want. I'm really tired of convienience taking the place of actual quality.A dedicated device will always be better, but people don't want to use a single brain cell to do anything these days. They'd rather trade fidelity for ease of use.

heretrix

Easier is better in some cases. And you shouldn't let it insult intelligence. PC gaming, hardware upgrades and waiting in lines for the next big release are just a waste of time to me. Why should I have to do those things? Entertainment should do nothing but entertain. I have a big library of games that take up absolutely no hard disk space, I can play the instant games are released, and I can access my games with any device.

Quality? Quality can definitely come from OnLive. OnLive is not only convenient for users, it's convenient for developers. Developers can define the hardware themselves. They can even develop games based on hardware roadmaps and OnLive will have a server that meets them there.

The Vita screens are not representative of the graphical quality of the Vita. You took screen shots at the Vita's resolution but stretched them to a size they were never meant to be. I can guarantee you that if you were to view those games on the Vitas five inch screen (five inches right?) the games will look far more clear and far less jagged.

Since the screenshots were taken with the Vita, it's highly likely that they're heavily compressed. Any PSP game that allows screenshots does this as well.

Well we won't know if they are compressed heavily or not. A small png file of that size would be around 1 mb. Also I usually take PNG screenshots of my PC games then use photoshop to convert it to a JPG and keep a quality rating of 10 which matches the PNG file but it many times smaller in file size. I always do love hearing consolites say that screenshots like that do not match how it really looks then they turn around and try to claim bullshots match the ingame visuals. Atleast those screenshots TC posted actually match real ingame visuals more since jagged edges (aliasing) is present.

LOL, so you're saying that a non-HD handheld that is not even as strong as the Ps3 can beat PC games when it comes to graphics? Little do you know that the graphical and video quality of Onlive games depend on your connection...yep.

Though the OnLive ones make me shiver simply because of touchscreen controls.

If viewed from the actual screen size, Vita games look good to me. I imagine teh same goes for Onlive mobile games.

This is probably the first gen of handhelds which I could substitute for a console. I hope Sony and Nintendo know what they're doing.

Looks rather awful in exported screenshots. I'll just wait until I can at least dawdle around with one at an electronics store before passing judgement.

I'm saying terrible quality streams produce horrible graphics.

You act as if I'm not aware of that. I have more than a capable connection for OnLive. Still get worse than console graphics and lag.

Lol, you're so funny.
You do realize that OnLive games run on custom built PCs, right?
