No it won't. End of story. The reasons: Very Obvious. I'm sure many will agree with me. My point, this thread has been made in the past by others, proven wrong then, will be proven wrong again.

I musta missed the part where I'm upgradeing and paying lots of money every month to do so. OnLive will never win simply due to the games, they can't beat Mario Factory.

Microsoft could buy out onlive if it became a threat and Nintendo and Sony could too I guess... I am pretty sure Onlive hurts the PC market most though.

I'll make this very simple. Once the Onlive concept starts to show signs of taking off, all Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony have to do is use the same concept with their next consoles. Onlive will never have the first-party exclusives that the big three have on their systems, and third-party developers and publishers will be more inclined to support them over a startup like Onlive.

All three consoles currently have some form of digital downloads, so how hard would it really be for them to go a step further with their next consoles and go for Onlive's market?

The future may lean towards games being only DD, but it won't have Onlive as its leader.

I would assume a Sales Throne - Wii/ DS

A multiplayer throne - 360 / psp

and a Graphics throne- PC

Onlive can maybe dethrone steam thats it

A few more than that. Total Package/Value Throne - PS3 Entertainment System throne - PC (PS3 if not counting the system where gaming is the secondary option)

TC probably doesn't realize that almost half of the US isn't on a broadband connection. I doubt OnLive will even touch gamers that do have broadband, but it sure as hell isn't going to hurt the console manufacturers overall, because they sell units to a lot of people that don't have broadband.

Actually two thirds of internet connections in America don't qualify as broadband.

Actually over two thirds of internet connections in America are below true broadband speeds.

Aie. Plus you have to consider that the threshold for the FCC is 4Mb down. Onlive recommends a connection greater than 5Mb down.

I wonder if the performance is really even all that amazing with 5Mb down, to be honest. I've been on 5Mb down connections, and they still couldn't stream video in real-time (no buffering).

Actually, if OnLive works the way they say it does, everything is processed in the cloud; there would be no need for the end-user to do any upgrades, because the OnLive provider would have to do the upgrades server-side.

Its really the future of gaming I think. No more need to upgrade, payloads of money every month. I absolutely love this new approach for playing games. I have a feeling this is gonna take off soon. I predict that OnLive will sell more "consoles" next gen compared to the other 3 companies.

reachrocksman

Atm, Onlive seems to be running on Windows based X64 servers. The "console" is just a "dumb terminal".

But nah, while most of the world is on low internet speeds, Cloud based gaming cannot take over to the masses.

I have trouble loading YouTube videos all the time and OnLive runs flawlessly. You just can't compare the two.

OnLive's method of video compression is far, far more advanced.

I think the problem with this would be people's access to internet, as well as the trend of internet providers capping data

Exactly, it totally depends on the games available for it.
