Not true. Consoles are upgraded every 5-10 years and are obsolete out the gate. OnLive updates their servers every six months.ok mr youll stick to onlive but guess what, once next gen comes onlive will be graphically inferierer
and wont get no more support ,
lol,
so ya youll still buy new systems , only differences is you dont actually own nothing you buy on it!

I have trouble loading YouTube videos all the time and OnLive runs flawlessly. You just can't compare the two.[QUOTE="jalexbrown"] I wonder if the performance is really even all that amazing with 5Mb down, to be honest. I've been on 5Mb down connections, and they still couldn't stream video in real-time (no buffering).Rikusaki
OnLive's method of video compression is far, far more advanced.
Nevertheless it demands more bandwidth than most Americans have. With a lot of the US being rural, that isn't likely to change much in the perceivable future. And that's not even getting into the issue of bandwidth caps.Onlive can maybe dethrone steam thats itBanjo_Kongfooie
Except for the fact that OnLive really only appeals to console gamers..
It really has NO chance of affecting the PC gaming market.
Onlive has potential to dethrone the big 3 simply because of the hardware backing it. The rigs they use could pump out cgi movie quality graphics at 60fps and that could be played on a damn macbook. I don't know why they didnt launch with any little games to showcase this. If they do this = win. Because there is no way the big 3 can compete as its not financially possible to sell systems with the same hardware. This is assuming that people will be blown away enough by graphics to buy. The only reason I havent gotten onlive yet is because its a bandwidth hog and cogeco screws me with a 60gb cap :( This is the only real problem with onlive.
WHAT!!!!..Sorry that will never happen..Onlive to me is a waste of money.Owning hard copies of games is the best way..Downloadable games just don't cut it for me.
The thing is,unlike steam(and other DD services),with onlive you don´t even own the games, the thing is basicaly a rental service...WHAT!!!!..Sorry that will never happen..Onlive to me is a waste of money.Owning hard copies of games is the best way..Downloadable games just don't cut it for me.

You don't really own the game with any digital service. With conventional disc based games what you own is the disc. Its contents are property of the copyright holder. With digital all you're getting is the content itself, which remains sole property of the copyright holder.
