ONLY 360 VS PS3 2010 (Year So Far)

But Mass Effect 2 is a multiplat. You don't need a 360 to play it. Therefore it doesn't make the system stand out at all. It is not an exclusive in any way shape or form.

Of course it does make the system stand out. It is not exclusive but it sure makes the system standout. It is in the 360 game aisle. It is not in the PS3 game aisle. It is also in the PC aisle. It gives both the 360 and the PC an advantage over the PS3. The notion that it gives neither the 360 nor the PC an advantage is simply bad logic. It is no more complicated than that.

Which has a better lineup out of the 10 games you are interested in:

System A: games 1-8

System B: games 1-7

System C: games 9-10

By the insane logic of exclusives matter and multiplats don't, you would choose system C. Have fun playing your two games, while in the real world everyone else is playing either 7 or 8 games.

The only alternative to that is to own at least 2 systems. And no one has a problem with 2 systems > 1 system. But that does not tell you which is the best (better).

I'm not going to bother with your fictional, irrelevant scenario. The PS3 and 360 are already very similar systems. The main thing that seperates them are exclusives which can only be played on that system. Yes, ME2 is on the 360 total library and not on that of the PS3, but its not an exclusive. Thus, it simply adds to the overall library (with the other 34 AAA games on 360) not an exclusive library, which seperate the system from the competition. There is no definite in picking up a certain system for a multiplat. In the same way we can play RDR on 360 and PS3, we can play ME2 on PC and 360. RDR is just as "exclusive" as ME2. Although ME2 is not on the PS3, you still don't need a 360 to enjoy it just like you don't need specifically a 360 or specifically a PS3 to enjoy RDR.

Why don't we devise a new way to compare PC/360 games, how about we make them count .5 cuz it makes 360 stand out but not to a degree of true exclusive. mysterj

I'm sure the hermits and sheep and cows would love that. "ME2" is .5 a 360 exclusive!!!! Yeah....Exclusivity is a yes or no thing. Only 1 answer.

It is simple, as far as PS3 is concerned, Mass Effect is exclusive to 360

in a strict 360 vs ps3 comparison, it shouldnt matter. 360 has it, ps3 doesnt.

Both Xbox 360(1) and Wintel PC are under Microsoft's DirectX/XNA ecosystem i.e. Microsoft gets plenty $$ from their tool chain(2) e.g. MSDN subscriptions, retail and education markets.

The Xbox is like Adobe Acrobat Reader for DirectX, while Wintel PC is like Adobe Acrobat Pro for DirectX. Acrobat Pro would be nearly useless if Reader's installbase is small.

1. Xbox is once known as DirectX Box.

2. Started from Microsoft Basic tool chain business model from the late 70s. Still continues to this day.

Do you honestly belive that games that are available for the 360 (and PC) but not available on the PS3 aren't a big selling point for the 360? You really need to spend more time in the real world and less time in fantasy System Wars.

There is a massive demographic of console only gamers where this is pretty much the no 1 criteria when deciding which platform to buy, they won't even consider gaming on the PC.

This place is called 'System' wars but everyone knows there is only one 'war', 360 vs PS3 and the PC has next to nothing to do with it. Mass Effect is a system seller for the 360, as is Fable and all the others. They have convinced gamers to purchase a 360 instead of a PS3 in the exact same way games like MGS4 and LBP have done so for the PS3. This is a fact, you can argue over semantics of 'exclusives' all you want, it doesn't change a thing.

Indeed, PS3 has so many RPGs scored above 9.5/10 that Mass Effect 2 did and so many games like Fable 3, it is so amazing !!!

Trully destroying 360 in RPG's. after all we all know zero is above 2 under certain circumstances

If you're going to use Metacritic, then you should be using Metacritics categories to delineate the nature of the metascore.

90+ = Universal acclaim
75-89 = Generally favorable reviews
50-74 = Mixed or average reviews
0-49 = Generally unfavorable reviews

Mass Effect 2 = 360>PS3 2010 for me. Don't care if it's not exclusive.

Now even with including 360 multiplats, PS3 still has had a better year than 360. But just speaking for me, Mass Effect 2 makes 360 win. lol

A multiplat cannot have the same worth as an exclusive in making a system stand out over the competition.

Your wrong right there mate, my friend bought a 360 over a PS3 this year because of ME2...the fact is since its not on the PS3 it does play a large part in decision making.

This thread didnt last long before the chaos began.... so sad...
