Even MS has started making a huge point out of how they want everyone to use their console, from moms to small toddlers. The focus of their presentation was Scene it or whatever it was called, a quiz game and the other being Naruto, where they clearly stated that it was a game for the small kids. And they even seemed to have jumped on the mini games wagoon with Viva Pinata.

Wii, well, I feel sorry for people with a bit more exotic gaming needs than that of the likes of Minesweeper who are stuck with the console. Nintendo has clearly forgot about the customers who's stuck with their console throughout the years and are continuing to talk soley about how everyone should be able to play togheter. While I can understand that people who has never gamed before may be intrested in fitness games and small simple mini games, how can you get excited as a long time gamer? It's like going back to the days of pong, and lets admit, the industry is beyond that level even if it's a bit nostalgic.

I disagree. Like a slowly bleeding wound, Nintendo's post-conference line-up is gradually starting to reveal itself. Golden Sun DS, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 will all be shown a bit more over the coming days. It's early times at E3 for them -- sure, it can't help a garbage press conference, but overall they'll do decently.

Microsoft had an okay conference. It suffered because of sales statistics, a cringe-worthy Rock Band display and the absence of some highly anticipated news *cough* price drop *cough*, but to say we saw nothing new would be a lie. Resident Evil 5 stuff was new, Call of Duty 4 stuff was new, Halo 3 stuff was new, PGR4 stuff was new, Mass Effect stuff was new. It certainly wasn't a disaster IMO.

To say Sony were the only ones catering to gamers would be a lie. They did have the best show, mind.

you have to focus on games when your in last place. I remember sony having boring statistical presentations earlier with ken kutagari, which made the presentation boring as hell.

In response to -Spock-:

Yes, I must agree, there's some "real" games in their line up. But their focus seems to lie on reaching a broader audience, ie games that normaly doesn't excite long time gamers. The truckload of mini games/party games comes to mind as well as this whole new Wii Fit thing. I don't think the MS conference was a disaster, it was more of a show case of old news and some severly skewed statistics.

If recall right Nintendo was dead last before and people were afraid that the unannounced Wii would be their last shot at surviving in the console market?

While the Wii and the 360 do have some real games they're never talking about their core gamers as of late, they're talking about focusing on broadning the market. Which might not be wrong from a business perspective, but highly unfortunate for people who wants a deeper gaming experience imo.
