Open-world Platformer battle: Banjo Nuts N Bolts (X360) or R&C:TOD(PS3)?

Which is better for open world platforming for exclusives.

Both were considered the mixed by their fans and critics, although Nuts N bolts was more highly rated mind you. Now, which is better?

Banjo Nuts and Bolts? With platfoming, big open worlds to drive creative and customized vehicles with classic silly banjo language and music.

200805120357250.jpg

Or Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction? Which is basically an HD up your arsenal?

ratchet.jpg

(I am comparing the earliest RandC to banjo because Banjo is an ealry game and Crack in time is not. Pms must stop.)

Time to decide. Stale(R&C) or progressive (Banjo)

Hmmmm... hard choice between those two. Crack in Time is probably my favorite platformer type game of all time so between the series I'd choose Ratchet and Clank. ToD wasn't overly amazing though. Between those two games I'd say it's a tie.

R&C:TOD isn't really that much of an open world platformer compared to ACIT. And BK:N&B isn't that much of a platformer compared to the previous installments. That being said, I prefer R&C mainly because I believe Rare f'd up the Banjo series too much :(.

I own both games (I bought when they both were brand new $60 games) and I enjoy platforming/action adventuring games. I enjoyed the Ratchet experience a large degree more so pitted against this particular Banjo game. Both are delightful games though.

Let me check the world's critics on the matter and see if my gaming experience with R&C : ToD vs. B-K : N&B lines up with the majority of the world's gaming critics...

Ratchet & Clank : Tools of Destruction Metascore 89/100, 89%

Banjo - Kazooie : Nuts and Bolts Metascore 79/100,79%

Yeah, so it appears like my original assessment/memories lines up with the majority of the world's critics on this particular R&C vs. Banjo Nuts comparison. Happy gaming. :P

Adding the decimal percentile of difference standards of the years those games released Banjo is an 80 and Ratchet is a 72. Thought you are not able to comprehend basic decimal percentile so I will leave you off with this. Although gamespot scores is what we should use. I watching you

where were you guys when the game first came out?? After playing the game I would often say that the game was bad (when the topic came up) but the fans pretty much ganged up on me lol. It's hard getting a fair opinion when it comes to PS3 exclusives. Cows are so stubborn and ignorant to admit when an exclusive just isn't very good.

Adding the decimal percentile of difference standards of the years those games released Banjo is an 80 and Ratchet is a 72. Thought you are not able to comprehend basic decimal percentile so I will leave you off with this. Although gamespot scores is what we should use. I watching you

First of all, I played both these games at their launches, not today, so your entire first point is moot. :o I played those games when they were hot and payed top dollar for both of them. Both games are in my collection as well as we speak. :D

Secondly, Gamespot.com scores apply only to the metagame we play in SW, it doesn't apply to the entirety of SW. You can make a thread in SW about Eurogamer scores, IGN scores, Metacritic, whatever. The Gamespot.com scores apply though for FLOPS on HYPE games. The metagame.

If you want to make a thread asking which game was better according to Gamespot.com, feel free. In that case I can tell you now Banjo did. I also read both of those reviews ages, but that's besides the point. I can also tell you a little bit about the Insomniac's view of the Ratchet score, some drama there, and some drama on the Ex-Gamespot.com staff member who reviewed Ratchet, a previous sports reviewer named Aaron Thomas. This all came up in SW past though. I was hoping Banjo Nuts and Bolts would be like Banjo 1 and 2:D, and unfortunately it wasn't what longtime Banjo fans expected or received. Banjo Nuts was a good game on it's own though for usre, but it didn't kick ass like Banjo 1/2 did (imo and world's critics opinions) on N64 or the XBLA Banjo 1/2 N64 HD ports. I would LOVE for that still to happen by the way.

RARE make a BANJO 3!!!! (Unfortunately, RARE is doing Kinect games today:cry:, and many former staff behind Banjo are gone. :( )

Remember too, my post wasn't about GS scores or Metacritic scores, my post was answering your Original Post which was this :

OP : Banjo Nuts N Bolts (X360) or R&C:TOD(PS3)? (simple question really...)

I went through my memories of the game, I posted what I recalled about which I enjoyed better...and then I checked Metacritic to see how the critics received the games at the time I played them.

I can say this, I liked Super Mario Galaxy 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Rayman Origins, New Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Galaxy 1, and Ratchet : A Crack in Time more than either of the two games in the OP.

Also, many in SW don't like certain genres. So, some stubborn fanboys may say I hate X game and Y game, and both are platformers. That particular guy loves FPS or Action games. So it's tough to get a read on TRUE PLATFORMING fans when you have so many fanboys posting nonsense in here constantly. I know some people hate Mario, Halo, God of War, Gran Turismo, Forza, Zelda, Mega man, Street Fighter, Castlevania, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Diablo, Starcraft, etc. In the end, some of them just don't like that GENRE of gaming and those users have an EQUAL VOICE with the rest of us.

Be careful too of the angry super biased fanboys that post a lot of drivel and hatred about users instead of games. They speak from ignorance, don't play these games, and have a jaded, and spotty GS posting history to prove it. ;)

Think about that. Not playing a game, but then posting in the thread asking about which game is better? Fanboys mang!

Happy gaming, I'm watching you! :P

There are plenty of people who are unbiased and game on PS3 and you can take their opinion seriously. Just be careful of people who pretend to be unbiased, but everyone knows who they are.

Be careful about those incredibly biased gamers that give advice but don't actually play the games in threads. You'll see them time to time. They don't care any reviews, they don't care about proof that people completed games, they may not even care about the gaming genre of the thread (this thread is about two platformers). Every one has an opinion, which is fine.

However, if you hate platformers, and then you hang out in Mario threads bashing Mario you really aren't trustworthy. Sure, you can point fingers at others, troll, but in the end, you aren't a valued source as a gamer that games.

It's the same thing for those that hang out in Forza threads, bashing Forza but in reality that gamer just doesn't like racing games. That's an important distiction to make. If that gamer doesn't like racers, he won't like Forza no matter how awesome, he won't enjoy Burnout, Need for Speed, GT5, Rally, etc.

Or hanging out in a FPS thread (Halo, Half-life, L4D, Metro, Killzone, COD) if you hate FPS games.

You get the idea. :P

It's one thing to dislike a game, but like the genre and give input. It's another when these fanboys don't even play that genre seriously, yet feel the need to comment. Many of them are Cows, Lemmings, Sheep, Hermits, whatever.

It's a waste of everyone's time.

Then, consider this variable! Many of these gamers spitting this vitriol don't even have Gamertags/PSN tags/Steam Tags to prove they aren't just a trolling ALT ACCOUNT in the first place.

The is potentially lot's to consider about so called "Advice in SW". :P (If you bother to consider at all, lol.)

With any game, it's take it or leave it. Too each their own.

I do remember having fun playing Halo Reach with ya (Halo Game Nights), we'll have to do that again for Halo 4 loco! :P

As far as Playstation Royale. I can speak a little on that. I don't think it will be very good, but I'm not one to hope for bad games. I'm a long time SSB, SSBM, and SSBB fan, so that game has it's work cut out for it! :P I've bought every SSB game made, although the N64 didn't wow me, the GC one did. :)

It would be nice if All Stars was good though as a gamer, simply because I get a SSB about every 3-4 years it seems like, so more good quality games in that field between my SSB games I wouldn't mind. More to play right? The quality is the hard part though, can Superbot deliver? I don't know.

However, I don't trust new devs like Superbot, and I'm with you. I'm on the wait and see with that PS All Stars game. :P

Between the two I enjoyed ToD more. N&B isn't bad, but would have much rather had a traditional Banjo game. Oh and R&C CIT kills them both :P

I liked Banjo and ToD was one of the "wroser" R&C games (Lol@ ToD being an "HD Up Your Arsenal")

But yeah I still think they were both good. I liked ToD better though.

Oh and GS's ToD review is kind of stupid because I remember their main complaint being that there was "too much variety" in the gameplay when pretty much all of the gameplay in ToD were in other R&C games in a different form and they never complained about those. They didnt even get the main reasons that made it not as good as other R&Cs.....

Nuts N Bolts looks like crap. I wish it was similar as the classic Banjo games. I never played any of the R&C games but by the picture of TOD it sure as hell looks better then Nuts N Bolts.

I wouldn't really call either game a platformer tbh.

Personally though, I've never found the R&C games good, and that goes for Tools of Destruction.

It's weird because in the last month I played both games. I can't bring myself to even want to touch R&C. When I go to the PS3 I'm just like "eeeehhhhhhhhhh 3D Dot Game Heroes it is!"

Tools of Destruction ain't even the best Ratchet on PS3 and Banjo isn't much of a platformer, but either way Banjo wins and it has amazing music.

Need to get your eye checked son, that 720P screen looks pretty decent.
