Game is sold out everywhere around me......2 Best Buys and 7 Toys R us Stores (7  ) I have a feeling it is gonna sell more than the PC versionMikeE21286
Im debating on which to get, I have a sick PC and I know it will look best on the PC, but I do love my 360 live community.

Its hard to judge which version will sell better as I and many many other players have bought orange box through steam. These figures are never counted in the official game tracking stats as far as I know. But who cares which sells better as long as they both sell out!

Same with me man....Anyone I know who plays videogames has a 360, and I don't know anyone who plays PC games really. I'm getting it on 360 I think ( or maybe PC....arghhh.....who knows )

I'd get it for Xbox Live so you can play with people on your friends list and use voice chat. It will look better on the PC but i'd rather play it on my 360 and 51 inch hdtv.Game is sold out everywhere around me......2 Best Buys and 7 Toys R us Stores (7  ) I have a feeling it is gonna sell more than the PC versionMikeE21286
For zero good reason. The Xbox 360 version has fixed resolution, framerate, and graphics, no mods, have to pay to play online, plus controller+d-pad, Xbox Live (the s**ts...).

I think there have already been tons of sales through Steam. Because if you had pre-ordered it through Steam, you would have not only just paid $45, but you would've also had instant access to basically the full version of TF2.

It will look better on the PC but i'd rather play it on my 360 and 51 inch hdtv.I'd stop lying to the guy. No mods, Steam WTFPwns Xbox Live (please don't argue this, because you don't know what you're talking about). Voice chat is integral to PC gaming....and you don't have to use the PoS Microsoft official headset (which is ridiculously overpriced for what you get). Steam games have a unified friend's list and in-game chat. Face it, Xbox Live is already outdated and closed network systems are for 12 year olds who don't want freedom or uniqueness in their gameplay and accessorization.
AND I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH: MODS, MODS, MODS, MODS.
Don't get the jaggy mess that will be the console versions.
Oh, yeah, and price: even at Gamestop, the PC version is $50, the 360 version is $60. Why screw yourself? Not to mention: at Fry's, the 360 version was $60, the PC version was $37. If you had pre-ordered via Steam the PC version would be $45, plus TF2 beta. Prices are skewed in favor of the PC.

Any comparisons between the 360 sales and PC sales are bound to be skewed, though. Most PC gamers have already bought Half-Life 2 and Episode One so they may not buy the whole Orange Box. Not to mention the Steam sales subtract largely from the retail sales.-Tretiak
like all this mention of Steam sales...yeah, I'm sure...but do people really think they outsell the retail? I mean I don't buy any games off the internet (like via Steam or anything like that) and for the previous person talking about it being $45 on Steam if you pre-ordered....it was like $35 at Circuit City this whole week.
I don't know,. I don't think sales over the internet are greater than those in retail stores.

I thought I was the only one like that. I know a ton of people from all over the world that play 360 games but I don't know a soul that plays PC games. There was a time that I had friends into PC games but they have since stopped completely.

The Xbox 360 version or the PC version was $35? I bet it's the PC version.
So will you cut the crap about the Xbox 360 version being preferable? I'm not trying to state that the PC version outsold the Xbox 360 version, I'm trying to state that it's totally ridiculous given the PC version is the best version without argument.
You'll understand when you play the gun game mod on a dedicated server with deathmatch mod and a cel shading mod on a custom map.
I seriously hope you'll give up this charade and give that a chance.
Steam is the largest videogame digital distro service on the net currently. I would argue that it even trumps, to a great degree, Xbox Live as a digital distro service. Demos, full size games, PopCap games....a large array of PC developers have lined up (from THQ/Company of Heroes to Sid Meier's Civ IV) to distro their games on Steam.
Don't underestimate that kind of drawing power, but accept that the sales are probably going to be inevitably skewed.

Yeah....piracy completely KILLS PC sales IMO. I mean its so easy to find a pirated copy of a PC game that it's almost begging you to pirate it.

dude, i'm not even advocating the 360 version being better, just holding a conversation/discussion in here is all. (if that's what you got out of my post then I'm sorry). And yeah, it was the PC version that was $35 (the only reason I mentioned the PC version sale price was that a previous poster said that you could buy the game off of steam for $45 if you pre-ordered it).

Well I mean isn't their a pirated copy of Bioshock PC out there (and that requires an online authentication)....there are workaround easily available. And not all the games require online play. So it DOES contribute to it, maybe not as much as the developers make it out to be.

It might do actually, alot of PC users already have HAlf-Life 2 and might buy the extra's seperatly off steam.

Only a neglible ammount. The work arounds for pirating games that require online verification are highly illegal and require a LOT more effort than usual piracy. Add on to the fact that most of these games are getting stringent anti-piracy, the vast majority of PC gamers will find it way too hard to pirate them in the first place. You also can't say that these pirates are contributing to less sales. Prove they had any intention of buying the agmes int he first place![QUOTE="-Tretiak"]Any comparisons between the 360 sales and PC sales are bound to be skewed, though. Good luck pirating a Steam game and playing online.
No, its not.[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="Deihmos"]It is easy.Deihmos
It is easy and it can be played online. That is all I will say.
Its harder, and it can't be played online without using LANs or private servers that don't use VAC or the steam services. I'm starting to think that maybe they just didn't make enough copies. It wouldn't surprise me considering Valve pushes Steam so hard. Maybe they weren't expecting much of a demand from console gamers.Gamer556
I think that has something to do with it. They probably forecasted the amount of copies needed based off of how Half Life 2 sold (which was quite poorly if I remember right) on Xbox 1

Nothing's stopping you from sending him a PM. Steam is infamous for being tough to crack. I know you can do it, but it isn't "easy", and more importantly, it's hardly common knowledge. A cracked Steam client will allow you to play the games, but good luck trying to play them online.

In fact, I'm almost positive that's what happened. Selling out a game over a large number of retailers is a remarkably hard thing to do, considering how cheap and easy it is to print DVDs. I mean, Halo 3 sold like 3 million ina week in the US alone, and I don't know anyone who had trouble finding a copy.
You won't be able to tell because of Steam, alot of people would have bought it from there to be in the TF2 betaParasiteDemon
Yeah, the week after they opened the beta, there were 40,000 full servers(24 people per server) and about 70,000 total servers. Was rediculous...
