Why was their such a delay on the Orange Box of the PS3, why do consumers have to wait until Dec. 11 when the 360 version is already out, does anyone know?lee7373
Because Valve think the PS3 is crap and handed responsibilities over to EA.

cant say much about it, EA is developing the game so its more likely to be a quick job to get cash but who knows........

I don't think it will be so different really. Same game maybe minor difference like framerate stuff or whatever I don't know.
I think it will be better. EA know people are expecting them to fail and will rise to the occasion and improve on an already great game.

u wanna put money on that?
So, EA will do a better job on a machine with a different architecture that is known to be harder to develop for than Valve?I think it will be better. EA know people are expecting them to fail and will rise to the occasion and improve on an already great game.

Valve isa PC developing company. The main reason they handed off the Orange Box to EA was because EA has had experience working with the PS3s hardware.Valve has none and doesnt care to, they like to work with a system that is familiar to dev for which is the 360. So yes I do think EA will do a MUCH better job deving The Orange box for the PS3 then Valve could dream of doing.

I feel the same way, there is no way EA will make a better game then its developer, valveyou know wats sad? EA has so much potential, but its all wasted making generic crap and quick cash ins. They have the funds, and now they have Bioware and Pandemic. I mean if EA seriously just said to themselves "ok, lets try to make a game for its artistic value, instead of how much money we can rake in" i think they could bring out sumthing truly amazing. They have experience with all 3 consoles, and if they decided to make an exclusive new IP for a console, i think it could turn out amazing...alas, that will never happen.

it will be sad if afterlike a nearly 2 monthextra wait sony fans get an inferior versionmingo123

Funny how Lemmings think it will be so much better on the 360. EA isn't making Orange Box from ground up. They are only porting the existing games (because Valve are cry babies). EA has talented people and alot of money. I doubt they will screw this up.
I hope that is sarcasm I smell ?I think it will be better. EA know people are expecting them to fail and will rise to the occasion and improve on an already great game.

I'm also now bullet proof should it by some freak of gaming actually do what I said.

Seeing as the 360 version was practically a seamless transition from the PC, I have a VERY hard time seeing EA doing a better job than Valve did.

:D Indeed you are out on a limb but - no guts, no Glory ! :)Off the top of my head I can think of a couple possible differences with the ps3 version of TF2.
1.Lesslag.Dedicatedservers?
2.Almost nobody using a mic. Except for a couple Warhawk vets here and there.
It's pretty hard to win rounds of TF2 if no one communicates.
It's also pretty hard to win when the lag forces you to run in to a wall for 5 mins though...

I think Valve said something about making a patch to solve the rampant lag in TF2. WHenever they release it, it better be soon.

My son played last night and an update was there, he seemed to have a great time and I didnt watch allot of his play, from what I did watch I noticed almost no lag.I dunno - they may have fixed it.

Sony has one or two games that has dedicated servers and there isn't a single 3rd party game that has them. EA/Valve will not waste their moneyhosting dedicated servers on the PS3.
There is a patch to fix the lag problems.

They definitely fixed a couple glitches on the weekend. Demomen grenades no longer go thru walls/floors on Dustbowl. Lag still seemed brutal though. If I had a dime for everytime I've shouted "WHY DO YOU HOST GAMES IF YOUR CONNECTION BLOWS?!!?!?! ARE YOU DOWNLOADING HENTAI OR SOMETHING??? WTF!!!!!!???!?!?".....I'd be a rich man.
Still the best game I've played all year tho :P

Of course it will be P2P. Who is going to run the dedicated servers? Surely not the developers and even if they include the option no one is going to buy 2 consoles so one could be a server. That is basically the main reasons dedicated servers will never take off with consoles.P2P works just fine but sometimes someone with a crappy DSL connection thinks he can be a host.

Only Warhawk and Resistance has some type of dedicated server that is hosted by Sony. I think Rainbow Six has an option for player hosted deidicated servers and it's also in the xbox version. resistance only has it for 32-40 players so if you go 8x8 it's p2p and warhawk only has them for ranked games.
That can't be true. Only 2 games with dedicated serves? The biggest argument for PSN and to not pay for XBL is P2P play. But only 2 games on the PS3 have dedicated serves... I don't know man.
If that's the case how can cows mock XBL if they are for the most part playing P2P as well?
However either way I do know not every dev is gonna pay for dedicated serves nor would they for years like Halo 2 has been played for years and still is to this day.
You could probably find more or about the same amount of matches of Halo 2 as the Orange Box probably for TF2

I agree. If this is true, then that whole 'Live sux becux it is P2P' argument is nul and void.

I thought it was known that only Warhawk and Resistance had servers. Warhawk only has them for ranked games and Resistance for 32-40 players. It's unbelievable how far some people took it so you were made to believe that all the games had them.
Rainbow Six has an option for your console to be a server. Don't know if anyone does it.
