Hey all, I used to have the game on the 360 (right before I sold it), but I plan on rebuying it again, but for the PS3 version. Are there any issues with the PS3 version?

PC>>360>>>>>>>>>>>>PS3 in terms of orange box, the ps3 version is completely and utterly inferior.

Well Valve did release a lot of patches, so is it still piss poor? It's only $15.00 used at a local electronics shop.
For $15 you can't go wrong even with the bugs. Still five great games.
Its not bad, I used to own it and I had no glitches or framerate problems. Traded it because I threw up from playing half life or portal too long :(
EDIT - Get the PC version, the online for half life is fun with mods :P

its playable, but if you can have it on a different platform i recommend it on a different platform
As everyone else said, unfortunately it wasn't ported very well.
With that said, the PlayStation 3 version of the game doesn't perform nearly as well as its Xbox 360 and PC counterparts. There is a noticeable problem with the PS3's frame rate at times. The frame rate hiccups are inexplicable because they can occur when almost nothing is happening onscreen or when you're in the midst of a big battle. It's not a huge gameplay issue, but it is very noticeable and a significant irritation. In addition, the PS3's loading times are longer than the Xbox 360's, and they're frequent enough to be noticeable, especially if you make a habit of dying and restarting.Gamespot review
Still worth getting if other platforms arn't available to you.
:? Get the PC version.Well I do have 4 gigs of ram and temporary graphics card (ATI 4870 HD) Intel Core 2 Duo at 3.1 GHz.

Would you consider a 2010 Dell XPS 630i a good pc? Only reason I bought that PC was to play CSS. Should've built a pc instead. :P

aside from mods, half life 2, portal and left 4 dead work just fine on the 360. what's the problem with playing valve games on consoles?

Well, based on the specs you just gave me, yeah. Of course it would've been cheaper if you had built it yourself, but what matters is that it can run games (and well, at that!) haha. Why the heck are you playing Valve games on consoles?[QUOTE="SAGE_OF_FIRE"][QUOTE="SwagSurf"]

Nothing really if you like shafting yourself. With that kind of rig the FPS alone are enough to play it on PC.

"shafting" myself? what does that even mean? the orange box and l4d run smooth as hell for me...

I mean, if you have the means to play the best version of a game, why the hell would you choose the inferior version unless you like to "shaft" yourself.
There is nothing wrong per se with the 360 version or even the PS3 version if it's your only choice. But he has a pc that will crush those games. The resolution, and frames per second alone are reason enough. Plus TF2 actuallly has people playing on PC.

i didn't know you were referring to the TC.

Just get standalone Portal for the PC. That's the only good thing in the orange box.
HL2 has weak gunplay and bad pacing while TF2 is only good if you are into hat collecting.
SwagSurf
I have portal for steam :P
then don't bother with the orange box. go and preorder portal 2 instead or get some other games that are actually good.
i have it on 360 and ps3, and while the 360 version is better, its not as bad as most say, load times are a little longer and the framerate dips from normal once and a while(most prominent on episode 2 from what i remeber). But i had the ps3 version first and beat everything in the orange box and enjoyed it alot. i think there were some patches that made it better also. for 15 bucks and if you cant get it on pc its well worth it.

L4D on the PC has better controls, free content, improved visuals, smoother performance, and great community content (I Hate Mountains and Cold Stream are good examples).[QUOTE="SwagSurf"]

From what I heard, if I buy Portal 2 for PS3, I get the PC version for free. Can you or anybody here confirm that?

Yes, but $45 with no tax is a better deal than $60 plus tax.[QUOTE="alfredooo"]

Yessir, you just have to tie your PSN account with your Steam account. Best bang for your buck right there, even if you never play the ps3 version. (though it DOES cost ten bucks more)[QUOTE="alfredooo"]

Thats what I gather. What I wanna know, is if by buying it and linking my PSN to my Steam, if being logged into Portal 2 will stop me from being able to play on PC. If not I will buy the ps3 versison, to play co-op with my daughter. Me on PC, her on PS3.

Uhm... every single update on pc is free. That alone makes up for the cost. And the game will look and run better too. Team Fortress 2 barely has a community on the consoles, while the pc version has over 10,000 people playing right now.
Oh, and because you link Portal 2 to your steam account when you buy it on ps3, you can't play on the ps3 and pc version at the same time. So I'm pretty sure you won't be able to resell the ps3 version of portal 2.
