No one wants 1000 clients for all thier games?

How many people have 1000 clients for their games? I'm guessing not many.

This is good news for me. My BF3 pre ordered from D2D will have a nice home.

I was obviously exaggerating. Since you have D2D, I think you have steam to, and now origin is on top of that. That's 3 so far, I don't know if you have impulse or not but that's another 1 and if publishers keep doing this who knows where we may end up.

Origins sucks. Steam doesn't.

But at least it isn't GFWL.

Steam sucks, won't even be selling BF3. Lmao.

There isn't one. People just act like Valve is the greatest thing to ever exist.

Expected.

Valve does the same with their games, and so do other developers as well. I dont mind this at all. At least it isnt GFWL.

Only problem I see is launching games through the browser. The battlelog or whatever seemed inconvenient to me.

[QUOTE="bf3blog"]

There has been some confusion over how EA's new Origin service will be integrated into Battlefield 3. Battlelog plays a big part, with the ability to browse servers and join a game directly from the browser. But according to DICE's Daniel Martos, Origin will be required in order to play Battlefield 3 if the game is bought in retail. We don't know whether this is true if the game is downloaded through a digital download service other than Origin, but we suspect Origin will be required no matter what.

Birdy09

EA is taking it too far now, they're really forcing Origin upon their customers. Plus, as the article stated, it'll take some extra resources to run Origin alongside Battlefield 3. Thoughts? Opinions?

How it that too far when I have to use STEAM to play any VALVE game?.... what the hell like.

You drive a... very good point. I'm wasn't excited about not being able to use Steam for BF3 but its really not evil on EA's part to do so....

Im not bothered by having to use Origin to run BF3, however the lack of server browser in-game is quite disappointing.

I'm not saying you need to run all at once them, but having to use so many different services everytime you want launch a game will get old once/if it starts to pile up. It seems though that it's fine for origin and not for GFWL.

I wouldnt say that its all Valves fault. Its far more likely that its both sides just being greedy. I have no problem with Origin, but it will be annoying that I will have to redo all my friends and everything again. That and I will end up having 4 community programs running when Im playing games. Steam, Vent, Xfire, Origin, and Yu Play if I ever play IL2 Wings of Prey.

I don't care. I already have Origin and some of my Steam buddies on it installed on my computer, but I know the Steam stalwarts will annoy anyone who doesn't consider Steam to be God. Plus their recent $5 sale proved they could dish out some sweet deals like Steam, so I'm hopefuly future DLC won't be a rip off and they can do better with that "direct support" they were talking about.

I do kind of hate using EA servers (completely unreliable and I expect nothing less then a worldwide crash on launch), but eh.

This doesn't make any difference. I thought it was obvious when they said you could browse games and log onto servers etc. Origin functions exactly like Steam, just it belongs to a different company. If this even bothers anyone, just connect the darn game with your Steam Overlay, you won't be affected. It's not like you won't be able to play the game.

I don't trust EA with anything involving networking. I hate how their games use log-ins and a lot of crap even in console games, and I've had lots of troubles with Bad Company 2 disconnections.

So I'm not sure what I'll do. I'll just wait for a heavy discount I guess.

Not a big deal.. but still pretty annoying. I hope other large publishers don't start mimicking this.

Shogun 2 Total War and Empire Total War requires Steam, so does a lot of other games.

Where's the problem?

Ok that's kinda lame. I really hate having more than one service in my PC.tagyhag
As do I.

I thought Origin did auto-updates too. I haven't bought anything yet so I wouldn't know for sure.

Why do people defend this nonsense? Although it's not a deal breaker, I still find this inconvenient. I'm still buying the game regardless however. I just don't understand why I now have to have steam AND origin both running.

According to EA they won't do that, they just put it in for legal reasons (what those reason are is beyond me).
