I thought the same when i first heard about Wii.I have no idea how to pronounce "OUYA". I don't buy things that I can't pronounce.

Its a nice little open source hack and emulator console. I will probably end up buying one sooner or later, just to run all kinds of emulators (N64, PS1, SNES, MAME, ect) and other android apps on the TV. Also has Onlive & netflix support which most of us don't care about but some might. Going to wait for the emulator community to go nuts with it, then I will pick one up.
For additional storage space, anyone know if you can use a USB flash memory drive?
Google Play isn't supported.[QUOTE="MonsieurX"][QUOTE="balfe1990"]
Also, anyone know if you can re-DL games you've already bought on Google Play onto the OUYA?
#sworcery and Osmos HD would look smashing on the big screen.

gah
It will be fine once it's rooted, unless Google suddenly changes its policy on that sort of thing.
It's kind of surprisng that an indie developer targeted/ open source console will be sharing shelf space with XBox 720, PS4 and Wii U at Target, Best Buy, Amazon and so on. In Julie Uhrman's defence, nothing like this has ever been attempted on such a scale. Like the thing or not, it's certainly making a splash.
Well they can now avoid paying xbox and sony to put indie games on their networks. It seems so pointless. There are indie games available on systems that do their own thing + the indie scene. I don't think the indie games need a dedicated console when there are more convenient systems at a better price.

They priced it perfectly. Reminds me of the $250 Wii price point. It's kind of surprisng that an indie developer targeted/ open source console will be sharing shelf space with XBox 720, PS4 and Wii U at Target, Best Buy, Amazon and so on. I hate to bash any product, but I don't see this thing having a future.
- Its focus seems to be the Nvidia Tegra, consoles don't focus on hardware, they focus on software, you don't tell people what's in the box, because that destroys the "you never have to think about hardware" illusion for the average user.
- Instead you tell them about the GAMES and market the hell out of those games. That's the console business. Sell the sizzle not the steak. You don't see Nintendo talking about the CPU, they talk about Zombie U. That's what people are buying, the ability to play Zombie U, the ability to play Pikmin, the ability to play Mario Kart.
- The box itself looks ugly, and wouldn't fit into most people's TV cabinets neatly.
- Digital download is a turn off. It turns away more customers than you lose from used games and piracy combined. Many people are OLD SCHOOL and like to have a physical product, and being able to sell games you didn't like gives people leeway to make more purchases. If a game is steam-locked, I would have to do an extreme amount of research before plunking down money, because I don't have the ability to recoup my loss if I buy something and turns out it's not for me. Physical is like a form of "consumer protection" that if you don't like what you bought, you can sell it and get back part of your money to go buy something else. And while devs whine about "bu bu we lose money" they should consider that most of their sales are BECAUSE people sold something else they didn't like to buy YOURS. Selling 2 million and losing 500k to used is better than selling 500k total and losing nothing.
- Stop treating gamers like criminals and a$$holes. It never works.
will keep an eye on this and see how the library grows
if this is used as a platform for up and coming game devs to get their feet wet in game development, then it may be worth a look to see what kind of ideas could originate on this and eventually maybe one day made into a bigger game on other platforms

The OUYA has USB ports so you can plug in external memory device.

I really, really hope this thing fails hard. Not sure why, I would just laugh so hard if it failed. Which it will, and thankfully so.
Nobody has a problem downloading milions of copies of games onto their phones. Games they don't physically own.I hate to bash any product, but I don't see this thing having a future.

Why do you want it to fail? The OUYA is great for small starting developers and could lead to a lot of game innovation if it reaches its potential as being a distribution console for small indie developers.

I actually don't, it's a conglomeration of what others have said, which really annoys me. It was sarcasm. Hard to do on the internet.

$1-$2 maybe $5
I sure as f*ck wouldn't pay $60 to be dependent on a company still being solvent.
Also I don't play games on my phone, I need the batteries for, you know, phone calls and schit.
Just buy an extra battery and stick it in your wallet. Just swap them when you run out of juice.$1-$2 maybe $5

I don't really see the need for it. I mean you can get a wii for that price or cheaper and it has games like Super Mario Galaxy 1/2.
Wait WHAT, are you saying my nexus 7 is more powerful then this console with double the internal memory space? What's the point, for an extra $100 "Which im sure will significantly decrease once Nexus 7.7 comes later on this year" you can get a screen and the piece of mind of portability.
The OUYA was a great idea at the time but they waited too long to release it, now were gonna have Tegra4 and Exynos 5 to play around with and its gonna blow this out of the water, the only people who are gonna own it are those who haven't done their research on what kind of better Android based devices they could have bought instead.
The only thing I can see going for this console is maybe the controller and I'm sure it can be sold separately.
