Where the consensus went from "This game better get a 9 or higher or Gamespot is corrupt!" to "LOL, who cares about that game"
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Grand Theft Auto IV are two examples. Any more?

Wonder Woman ponders.
"Halo 4. Getting beaten by psn's Journey, for Game of the year, caused many a lemming to go, blindly, play in a rush hour expressway."
GTA V
30 million copies thus far is not over hyped.
but the thing is everyone on campus was talking about it for about a week when it came out and then it all died away, i haven't heard anyone say anything about it for a while now. of course it's a great game, and good for Rockstar that it sold so well, but it can still be overhyped

This is just... lol. Here on System Wars people were talking about it for well over a month, multiple threads were popping up outside the sticky. Even on Reddit, which is PC-centric, r/gaming was saturated with GTA V posts. It was the same for pretty much every gaming community on the internet, and in the real world with 30 million copies sold in just over a month I think it's fair to say this was the biggest gaming release of all time. Nothing about GTA V was overhyped: it received enormous critical acclaim, made records in the industry, and met most fans' sky-high expectations. I suppose you could say week-one online issues were a disappointment, but I do think Rockstar has done a decent job of getting it together on that front.
TLOU
8/10
Cows are still crying.
lems should be crying because they cant play one of the masterpieces of the gen, but hey at least you got gears of flop this year!
Bioshock Infinite, The Last of Us, Far Cry 3, Skyrim, Tomb Raider, I could go on...
Basically, the vast majority of "blockbuster" games released in this generation have been crap, but so much money gets pumped into graphics and marketing that legions of mouth breathing idiots will lap it up like the consumer whores they are.
Then there are the indie games like Gone Home that are steaming piles of poo poo pancakes that barely qualify as games. But it's about lesbians, which makes it super progressive and daring! So SJW reviewers give it ridiculously high scores and everyone who wants to flex their indie boner muscles acts like it's great.
People need to stop liking the wrong things. It's a big problem. From now on, I'll tell you which things are okay to like, and how much you can like them, just to avoid any confusion. Okay?
The Only correct answer is Aliens Colonial Marines.
This one had hype and ended up letting down everyone.
The others had hype and ended up letting down a few.
For me it would have to be the Bioshock Infinite and Assassin's Creed series. I've never quite got all the fuss surrounding Assassins Creed, and while I did enjoy playing BIoshock Infinite through, I struggled to engage myself in the story and certainly didn't think the game was worthy of getting so much praise.
