Thats because they are hardcore gamers or Sony fanboys who would save up to buy gaming systems no matter what. I am talking about the masses and fact is that the PS3 is geared towards a wealthier market, its look, blu ray, etc. easily indicate this. Where as the 360 gamers come more from the low/medium income segments which are the most affected by thecurrent recession and high gas prices...

or maybe they (average ppl) like what the ps3 offers. i mean they do have great 1st party exclusive, mgs4, and reliablity on their side. its not all about fanboys and the wealthy buying ps3. For example, i wanted to buy xbox but RROD kept me away from buying one cuz of fear.

or maybe since Sony is on their 3rd system, they have built up a loyal fan base. remember that a lot of people would not even dare buying the original xbox, just because they hate MS or the fact that they made windows. god damn sad if you ask me.

Nah you cant say that your local retailer represents the country as a whole, some places are more hard hit than other, while some areas are far more wealthy and always have been. The general mass consumer usually will go with whatever is the best value and the fact is Blu Ray offers the PS3 far more value esp with people that are not very interested in gaming. And you also have to remember that MGS4 was a huge title that caused an upswing in sales, much like a Gears 2 would do on the 360. And lastly now that that Sony won the format war it is obvious that the PS3 will benefit from higher sales esp in the short term.

simple. ppl buy and play videogame so they dont have to think about the economy.

I never said that people will not buy console or games now I just said that the market has slown down compared to earlier levels. The market will keep expanding, make sure you read what was posted in the article, they said sales coninued to be strong because gaming is a relatively cheap form of home entertainment. If there was no economic downturn however the number would be even higher. People with no preferences in consoles will go with the system with the most value and that is the PS3 and combine that with the other factors like MGS4 and Bluray winning and you can see why the PS3 is outselling the 360 right now. And the Wii is still selling strong because it is the cheapes system and offeres a different experience.

NO. Because back then HD DVD and Blu Ray were still in a hard fought war that didnt look like it would end anytime soon. Combined with the fact with the recession. If times were good people usually dont care about overspending but when times get tougher you get more analytical in your purchases and you are more stingy with your money you make sure you make the best purchase, so when an employee at lets say Walmart tells you "Oh this is more future proof with Bluray, it also is far more reliable than the 360" ofcourse you will go with the PS3.

I guess everyone knew that PS3 would outsell Xbox360 with the exception that many didnt want to admit it... PS3 is the successor to the biggest selling console (btw still selling) therefore it has a huge install base of fans which will eventually get a PS3... I got one last year and unlike many state, enjoyed many great games and free online is a Plus... am not even counting its huge list of multimedia features and being a blu-ray player...

However am also happy that lately got an Xbox360 because its a great console too, at first i was sceptic but after a few games i realised that one shouldnt judge/bash before actually trying stuff...

Also its good that all consoles are doing fine in terms of sales, since only gamers can benefit, since it would attract devs to invest more money and produce better quality games on all systems..

I've been saying it since day one, fanbase alone will help the PS3 pass the 360 in sales.

last gen Sony sold 120 million and MS around 25.

do the math.

Sony knows this also, they said it themselves, that loyal fans will buy the PS3 even without games.

I'm sitting here watching my girl play Too Human, I'm happy to see her enjoy this game and can't wait to get two copies so we can co-op this game to death.

see what I'm doing here, enjoying myself and letting PS3 owners enjoy whatever makes them happy playing the PS3.

you don't see me posting up articles saying "girlfriends rather play 360 over PS3", if it was you, you would break your fingers just to put it up on this post as fast as possible.(well honestly, renegade would probably beat you to it)
