Here's a comparison with my LEAST powerful pc vs PS3

CPU : Mermon VS Cell                              PC wins

GPU: 7950 VS RSX                                   PC wins

VRAM: 512MB VS 256MB                        PC wins

RAM: 2048MB vs 256 MB                         PC wins

HD: 100GB@7200rpm vs 60gb@5400rpm   PC wins

Display: 1200P vs 720/1080p                       PC wins

Disk Drive:  DVD DL burner vs Blue-Ray (non-burning)    Take your pick for that winner.

And the funniest part of all..............that "PC" was my laptop! Sorry, but a console can't touch a real computer on specs. To compare it to a 8800GTS PC is absurd.

Tony_aaaa

That is no where close to the least powerful PC.  Lets not start spewing out complete lies here.  I have a gaming PC and it does not have a DVD burner and I sure as heck don't have a Mermon processor.

Now you're talking some s***

stop tryin to make me get a ps3 once i get the money, it doest even compare

tmgwarrior72

Yes, you can't combare a $600 console to a $1500-$2000 PC, and the fact is that for a fraction of the price you can still get your game on with a console. PC----> PWNED.

hmmm top notch gfx card is same price as ps3, - That's a bad thing

pc has way better gfx(we all know that) - Not necessarily. It may have better graphics potential, but it lacks the gameplay found on consoles.

way more precise controls on pc(and if i wand a controller ill hook up a 360 controller or a wiimote) - Big deal, the PS3 Sixaxis or 360 controller are fine (both very well made.) They also have keyboard and mouse support.

way better sound on pc - Only if you have the hardware for it.

same phisx but pc gets is much sooner - Actually, the Cell has great potential in this department and currently a PC would need an add-on physics card to reach the level of PS3. Says that right here on Gamespot in the tech area.

better games on pc - In general, you know that's not true. That may be your opinion, but the number of consoles sold vs. PC's sold for gaming says otherwise. More people game on consoles. There is a very important reason for that. Far more games with far more variety.

stop tryin to make me get a ps3 once i get the money, it doest even compare - Stop trying to push the PC on people. It's far more expensive than a PS3.

you no longer need a top notch gfx card to beat the ps3. PCs are better than all consoles.

Ya, great value buying a $3000 computer when there's only like 5 games that look amazing. (why am I talking, I play pc games...)nacademy
I'm not into PC Gaming but I hate this arguement. Windows XP - $20 (MSDNAA) ATX Case w/480watt PSU - $50 Athlon 64 x2 3600+ $100 Socket AM2 CPU Cooler $20 Socket AM2 MoBo - $60 DDR2-800 RAM 512mb x 2 - $100 DVD-RW Drive - $40 160gb HDD - $60 Radeon x1950gt 256mb GPU - $150 Total: $600 You should be able to run GRAW, Oblivion, Battlefield 2142, WoW, Fear, et cetera just fine.

i forgot 8600ultra is comin next month so lets compare those prices

8600ultra-180

sound card-150

phx card 150

1gig extra mem-80

stick those in ur current pc and u got a powerhouse that outperforms ps3 by lightyears

and thats 560 to ugprade vs 600 for ps3, dont tell me its more expensive to upgrade

Spag1091

If your 3 years behind on upgrading your PC, you also need to take into account purchasing a MOBO that supports the 8600ultra. Then you'll also end up getting a new processor, thats probably around 300 more dollars if you want it to be higher than a single-threaded pos 2.5ghz CPU.

ok, great but in the long run ull make up for those costs cause pc games are 10$ less then ps3 and if u r a gamer ull get lie 30-40 games this gen, so thats 300-400 dollars u save to pay for that

Wrong. Even Crysis would be able to run on that rig. Crysis can run on a 2-3 year old rig.

He bairly meets the minimum system requirements.  He won't be able to run the best graphics with that setup and he won't be able use direct x 10 on that which is the big selling point for that game.  Like I said he can run the best games today sure but in 6 months he won't be able to:

Minimum Requirements
CPU: Athlon 64 3000 /Intel 2.8ghz
Graphics: Nvidia 6600/X800GTO (SM 2.0)
RAM: 768Mb/1Gb on Windows Vista
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 256k
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9.0c with Windows XP

Recommended Requirements
CPU: Dual-core CPU (Athlon X2/Pentium D)
Graphics: Nvidia 7800GTX/ATI X1800XT (SM 3.0) or DX10 equivalent
RAM: 1.5Gb
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 512k (128k upstream)

i agree, that could still run crysis, not at dx10 but at max dx9 settings, which dont look too much less, if u remember e3 2005

might need a tad more ram

You realise Crysis is for Q3. At earliest that is July, which is 6 months away. If he can run Crysis in 6 months time, I don't think there should be any problem, considering it will be one of the most demanding games of 2007.

Also, that system exceeds the minimum requirements, not 'barely meets'

Yeah my PC (currently collecting dust at my friend's house while im at college) has a 2600+ Athlon XP, 1gb of DDR400 memory (DDR1 that is, i dont know what this new DDR2 and DDR3 stuff is lol, must be fast), 80 gb 7200rpm HDD, some crappy 20 dollar sound card lol, and of course my good ol' Geforce 4 Ti4600. I couldn't run Oblivion, i dont know about Crysis but i'm guessing its gunna be more tasking on a computer than Oblivion is.

Great so he can run games for a year and he will never get the full potential from them as the system requirements above prove.  A PS3 purchased today will play games at their full potential till 2011 minimum.

Either you lied or you dont have a console :lol:Or you are playing... CRYSIS?!?

Ever heard of World of Warcraft? One of the most addicting MMORPGs in the history of computer gaming? Where there are more than seven million people loyally doling out $15 a month to play?

Yes, but the PS3 is comparable to a PC in cost, the Wii and the 360 are cheap.

Yes because 600$ is a lot closer to 1000$+ then it is to 400$...

Here's a comparison with my LEAST powerful pc vs PS3

CPU : Mermon VS Cell                              PC wins

GPU: 7950 VS RSX                                   PC wins

VRAM: 512MB VS 256MB                        PC wins

RAM: 2048MB vs 256 MB                         PC wins

HD: 100GB@7200rpm vs 60gb@5400rpm   PC wins

Display: 1200P vs 720/1080p                       PC wins

Disk Drive:  DVD DL burner vs Blue-Ray (non-burning)    Take your pick for that winner.

And the funniest part of all..............that "PC" was my laptop! Sorry, but a console can't touch a real computer on specs. To compare it to a 8800GTS PC is absurd.

Firelore29

That is no where close to the least powerful PC.  Lets not start spewing out complete lies here.  I have a gaming PC and it does not have a DVD burner and I sure as heck don't have a Mermon processor.

Learn to read...It is MY least powerful PC. My other (2) ones are MUCH more powerful than my laptop. Also yes, my laptop cost more than a PS3, but it does more. Not to mention the 1200P screen it included.
