Nintendo has had their share of flops and failures over the years. If the Nintendo name meant automatic sales, then Eternal Darkness would have been one of the best selling games last generation.

Nintendo's name on a box does not equal sales. Is Nintendo a popular brand that is recognized world-wide? Yes, but their name being on a box does not mean a game will automatically see great sales.

Over the years, many games like Startropics II, Mole Mania, Eternal Darkness, Wii Music, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, and Metroid: Other M all flopped at retail despite carrying Nintendo's name on the box.

As I said before, Nintendo is a popular brand. But it does not mean that every game the publish turns into gold. They have many failures and flops that have been released under their name.

He's talking about games like uncharted(in the single player mode only),god of war,heavy rain, beyond two souls and other games that mostly focus on presentation and not gameplay.I like presentation and gameplay, but I don't like games that rely on presentation to much.

I bought into the wii hype. I never listen nintendo fans anymore.

The user he quoted said that ninty focuses mostly on things related to gameplay and not things related to presentation unless it's for a certain artstyle they want in their games.This is mostly true.The other two are kinda true, but their are cows and lems that don't like either of those things.Park twisted what he said and said that franchises on other platforms are gameplay focused.He is correct,but it sounded like he was bashing ninty with that statement.

Not true unless the gameplay relies on a more open environement with more interactions with the environment, better Al to play with and more.Devs like Prope have come up with excellent uses of the Wii remote even though the Wii has terrible graphics.

Literally most of the publishers forced their developers to make terrible versions of the games on the wii or terrible games on the Wii.

I think he's using the old adage that the anticipation of a gift is better than actually owning the gift you've been given. The excitement trumps the reality. But it's lazy and doesn't apply here because people choose to buy consoles, not empty boxes.

He expressed several times he does not understand Nintendo at all. He doesn't understand why they do things, and certainly doesn't understand why they don't do things. It's mindboggling him and I think it is becoming very frustrating. Don't take it out on the fans Pachter. You're not the only one who doesn't get Nintendo.

What they do is of course based on economic sense, but not alone. It is also based for a bit on tradition and on certain principles. It must be frustrating to know so much about the language of business and yet Nintendo shows that it isn't the only language out there. This reminds me of kungfu. When you think you are on top of things it feels like you made all the progress. Something new will present itself to show you you have much to learn. It feels as if you made no progress at all. That is what happened. Like a flywheel, you climb up, fall down, climb up again, but in the meantime you do make progress even though it does not feel that way. Someone should tell him that.
