I'll get it, Never played it before.faizan_faizanPlayed it from 10 pm to 10 am one day, then got 3 hours of sleep, then played it 3 days nonstop till I finished it. My last year in highschool. I think it was during the winter break. Good times.
Oh yay the same ancient game that gets mentioned over and over again, has aged horrible and is not exciting in the slightest considering we have played it once.MBirdy88It aged well, bro. Deus Ex didn't.

SS2 is still rather clunky and slow, but yeah it aged pretty well other than that

Haven't played System Shock 2 in years. Hope they get the first game as i never had the chance to play that.Â
Sweet. Hope they bring more of the classics to gog.funsohngLike Homeworld and Freelancer, Age of Empires 2, Age of Mythology, Zoo Tycoon...... So many sexy games that just needs to be release but won't be. Especially old Microsoft games. F*cking MS. Oh please, don't mention those games. I would love if AoE2 and AoM appeared on GoG one day.

First game went freeware a while ago. since I have no idea where I can put the word "sex" in in this sentence, I will just say it here and you can ignore this bitHa, about time. Can't have a store named "Good old games" without offering System Shock 2. It's one of fav games of all times, this is definitely worthy of your time, it still stands up great, and is a pleasure to play through, especially with a few mods.
The first SS should also be played, there's a freeware version around, with a very simplified DOSBox installation, and the game works with no problems.
lol Brill gif Having disgracefully never played this I look forward to giving it a go!

Awesome. Definitely will like to try out the game that Bioshock is a spiritual successor of, through I don't want this to be another Deus Ex.>.>
Wanderer5
Unlike Deus Ex, the game is much more straightforward, it's practically a horror - adventure. Its horror atmosphere is still bone chilling, the controls are solid and responsive, the level design is great. There aren't that mant elements that aged, because of its straightfowardness. Unlike Deus Ex, which had way to much stuff going on.Â
And if you can't stand the horrible graphics, you can check out the forum here and add a ton of texture and model replacements, makes the graphics look much better.
Btw., you should give Deus Ex another go with the mods from my signature. Basically fixes every single issue you have with the game. Â
Â
One of the best games of all time. Kinda sad that Bioshock is a crappy spiritual successor in comparison, way too streamlined and doesn't improve on the gameplay system and atmosphere of System Shock series in general. Bioshock overall is great though, just not an evolution of System Shock.
If only EA didn't hold the rights to the series, along with Dungeon Keeper... seriously f*ck EA.

Don't really care about the graphics (but I probably still check out the graphic mods), but as long as it more straightforward and has a better first impression, then I should be fine with this. I should have look into the mods for Deus Ex, but I not interested in playing it now.:P
Well back to check out GOG, but I hope they will bring Shivers 1 & 2 someday. I would buy the 2nd one in a heartbeat.

He might not be just talking about graphics.
I'm not rilly good with scary games... maybe I should do one of those scarecams or facecams or whatever they call it.
Eh? Dungeon Keeper the original and it's sequel are up on GOG O.o
If only EA didn't hold the rights to the series, along with Dungeon Keeper... seriously f*ck EA.

I think he was refering at possibility of sequels if EA wasn't holding the rights.Â
EA has no plans for System Shock IP, for them it's just an inactive IP lying in a hole somewhere, never to be brought up again.

Ah I see. My mistake.Edit: That being said, It's time for someone to get some Occulus rift working on this little bugger. :P

considering I played Deus Ex for the first time in 2006, 6 years after it came out, and it managed to become my favorite game of all time....i'd say it has aged very well

There will never be a Dungeon Keeper 3 or System Shock 3 - that's what I was implying in my post. EA has the rights to them, they won't make a sequel (though why would you trust EA with the sequel lol?) and they won't sell the IP.Â
Â
I have been waiting for this day for years. YEARS. I finally get to play the game for the first time.
Let's hope the bloody thing RUNS.
Ugh Dungeon Keeper. So we walk to this conference room and we take a seat. You told me to come up with a plan to keep a hold of one of our old IP's of a forgotten past and make some money out of it if possible. I don't really care about my job and I know you aren't really expecting much anyway, so instead of thinking this through I've been arguing religion on OT and didn't really feel like coming up with anything good. So I sit down at the other end of the table and we both feel like we're wasting our time now having even walked in here. Within the very second that I place my paw on the table holding a piece of paper with some stuff scribbled on to it you say "Do it."
That's how I imagine it turned into a CHINESE MMO WITH BRITISH HUMOR. There is no way ANYONE thought that THAT was a good idea.
I'm still very angry about that.
BTW if you like Dungeon Keeper keep an eye on Impire (is also on Steam).
I don't know if it's going to be any good, and it is not the same as Dungeon Keeper (you play more as one character and send troops outside and stuff) but it somehow has the same vibe so who knows it could be aweZome!
I played it a few years ago, its pretty dated but if you push through you can still get into it. You can really see the influence it had on games like Dead Space and Bioshock.Â
If they are just selling the vanilla version it will not work properly on Windows 7 and presumably 8, but setting core affinity to 1 via the task manager and using windows XP compatability mode should do the trick.Â

Doesn't GOG have a '100% games must work on modern Windows' requirement?

My version works with it, just stuck it in ein 7 compatibility mode after it crashed 3 times before that. Did the trick. Also it got a big patch recently that worked out a lot of kinks

They tweak the games to work with modern systems, they'll also do the same with this one, that's why i always buy older games from them.Â
