Ha ha, no, it's funny that you guys are all excited about an unchanged game from 14 years ago. And anyone can run it if they want to. No ****ing way my laptop from 2011 can't. It's just no one else cares. Console and handheld gamers have easy access to this game... It's just that we have so many better games to play that we don't want to. Do you think my laptop can't run this game lol? I could easily go on that website with old overpriced games (Nintendo and Sony prices their classics almost the same and are much better) and buy that if I wanted to. It's really not something only PC gamers can get. Do you not realize this?[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"][QUOTE="Drasonak"]That's... exciting, for someone who doesn't have access to Fire Emblem: Awakening, I suppose. Man, what the **** **** games do you play?Drasonak

I don't get why some cultural backwardsness is acceptable, while others aren't. So it's okay to play a game from the 1990s, but it's not okay to adopt the homophobic attitudes of the 1990s? Why, because it makes PC gaming look good? You can live in the past, but I want a quality future, and the past does not reflect that.it's still fantastic and more atmospheric than most games out today.tagyhagWow, what a convincing argument. I guess the great thing about being a PC gamer is that you're able to make extremely vague remarks that could be applied to just about any other game without backing it up, and still not be questioned for it.

Games are games. Chess is over a thousand years old and it's still entertaining. So is Pong, Pacman, Mario. Playing old games and new games isn't living in the past, it's .. just playing games you're interested in and enjoying them.Â

Drasonak gunna be Drasonak.Console and handheld gamers have easy access to this game... Drasonak
BS. The game is out of print and it does not run on modern operating systems. VERY few people have played this game. That is why it's out of print... because no one played it.
The bigger pain in the ass must have been getting it to run.
By the way, several people in this thread could obviously benefit from reading my sig and acting accordingly.

To quote an atheist tryhard. "That which can be asserted without evidence can just as easily be dismissed. The burden of proof is on the person making the claim." So I can just as easily that every other person in the world has it and hates neckbeards and my claim would just be as valid yours.I'm quoting an atheist, though, so he has to be right... right? So either you admit atheist neckbeards' arguments are invalid or don't and accept that the virgins are in the wrong. Either way, this is just too good.
Watch him suspend me. Because it's easier to say "troll" when you have no real answer. Some arguments only apply when it fits their agendas... It's really sad because fields like psychology don't work like that so you can tell they don't know what they are talking about. I can't believe how prevalent confirmation bias and congitive dissonance is, particularly in the "nice-guys^TM-who-objectify-women-and-complain-about-how-they-deserve-sex" category.
Yeah, but modern chess didn't come around till at least the 20th century. And a lot of people are still stuck in the past and hold backwards attitudes because they're neckbeards. Most don't go farther back than 20th century standards, though.
Drasonak
Man, i don't care how many variants of chess are out there, that's like telling me that a popular variant of Tetris hasn't come around till at least yesterday. Basic rules still apply. Forget about that.. My point was that playing old games isn't something deeper than just playing old games. If you like a game, you play it, f*ck what people think. Gaming is a personal experience.Â
[QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"]The bigger pain in the ass must have been getting it to run.clyde46I have issues running old games. No issues you mean? I don't usually either, but SS2 is a b!tch.

Good question! No, you're not! In fact, you should be fact checking whatever I say. If I'm full of crap, well you're job is very easy. If I'm telling the truth, well you can't prove me wrong.
Unfortunately, the unavailability of SS2 is not something I can link to. It's something I've been trying to solve for years. So it's my personal experience of trying to get this damn game to even run beyond five minutes that tells me that it's impossible to run on modern operating systems.
So I cannot provide you with a link. Take my words with a grain of salt, but if there is a way to install SS2 on a modern operating system, I sure as hell have not found it! Enlighten me therefor on how I can install it.

Yeah, played it last year, was hard making it work properly, would run with no problems, but I'd get no sound. Had to go on a hunt for some legacy audio codecs or something, but pulled it off eventually, there's this SS forum dedicated to modding, they had great guides on how to make the game work on modern systems and how to solve any issues that may pop-up.

There are somethings that are mathematically unprovable, but accepted true.
I have not found a way to play SS2 on a modern operating system. That does NOT mean there is no way to play SS2, just that I have not found it. You say that "non-neckbierds" have "easy access" to it. Man, no offense but you come across as just a little bit unhinged.Â
Just to be clear here. A web site is putting System Shock 2, a classic PC game, up for sale. Somehow that has led you to talk about god, atheists, women as related to intelligence, homophobia and modern chess. On top of that you've articulated what appears to be a belief that there's conspiracy among the mods. That they driving a certain political agenda and are wanting to silence you because they have no answers to your arguments (still not sure what you are arguing for or against).
I'm not 100% sure if you are just writing random thoughts that enter your head in order to troll and confuse, if so, carry on. However if you really think that you are making a coherent argument you really have a problem :P
About the actual game, it's a great classic and while the graphics are dated, the quality of game play makes it well worth a visit. Just like people were happy when Sony said they would re-release MSG1, Zone of the Enders, Show of the colossus etc, PC gamers are happy to see an old classic becoming widely available again.
