Pc FPS's vs. Console FPS's

Stalker and Crysis are good shooters

agreed...crysis is better than any console shooter aside from Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4 (which is also on the PC)

Wii fps owns all. err but there hasn't been an AAA fps for Wii yet

MP3 is best FPS on any consoles. I dont know about FPS on PC's but for consoles its MP3 > every other FPS.

I thought the Crysis gunplay was much better than Stalker, but Stalker was excellent because of it's complete open-endedness and quest/RPG structure.

In the end I enjoyed Crysis more because of all the replayability with custom maps and the editor itself, but Stalker is my 3rd FPS behind HL2.

The first Half-Life, launched in 1998, has better AI than most games today. Unfortunately, it's using a cheat (he always knows where you are), but the illusion is perfect.

FEAR is famous for it's planning technology - which means the AI actually plans it's next moves. That's why you're often taken by surprise, flanked and some even manage to sneak behind you using the shortcuts while others pin you down.

Halo is interesting because the AI has group mechanics.

I will say that HL2 is a much deeper shooter than most shooters - in many ways, even Bioshock is a deep shooter - in manys ways, though less than HL2.

Crysis and Stalker on PC are also fantastic.

PC truly is the no.1 100% best Shooter platform by a longshot easily, though consoles are not too bad.

Multilpayer and Singleplayer department it really is no competition that PC is much better.

As for Halo 3, singleplayer wise its nothing special, multiplayer is vey solid, and COD4s singleplayer is great, but not as good as the likes of HL2, Bioshock, Stalker and Crysis. Its multiplayer is damn good though.

Another thing is that there are loads of great shooter mods out there readily available to PC. Insurgancy, Killing Floor ect. are all fantastic.

This has quickly turned into a mud slinging contest.

The reality is, the PC has always been the established FPS platform. It boasts a superior competitive pedigree (illustrated by professional tourneys, which are more popular on the PC platform, see Quakecon), bigger communities (that last longer), mods, standard M+ K support, better customizability and in many cases.... better visuals.

Console shooters are now very popular, they get many PC shooters nowadays, but the strengths of the PC platform coincide with the FPS genre. It's that very fact, which keeps the divide between console shooters and PC shooters a large one.

whatever, i'm able to play my games with my IRL friends, while drinking beers an enjoying their company.

I'm sorry, but I can't believe for a second that someone who has access to playing both PC and Console FPSs can even jest about console FPSs holding anything above PC FPSs... other then maybe being able to sit on a couch :s *waits for mad exponent to paste his HTPC setup*

Haloe and GeOW require no 'thinking' compared to valves games. you get a gun, you find the enemy, you kill it. in valve you actually have puzzles and things to solve. things that require some form of IQ (unlike the games i mentioned earlier) hell portal is the best FPP ive ever played, valve makes thinking man games, its that simple. Well, that and TFC-TF2 wich just rule MP far above that of halo and gears

I Agree.....haha to me when i played halo all i thought of completing a mission was to blow stuff up nothing more and nothing less and i was 100% correct. I dont remember one time i had to solve a problem like moving certain objects or solving some sort of sequence to get into a door besides doing things the "American Way"......if something is in the way..blow it up!

I'm not an avid FPS player but I prefer FPS's on consoles.

PC's are buggy, glitchy, and full of cheaters on-line. Hardware differences also make online play uneven, and sometimes frustrating. I'm also not a fan of M/KB for action games, it feels unnatural and too skatey. I do think that M/KB is the best input for RPG's and all types of strategy games.

PC's overall gameplay is just to uneven, you never know what kind of performance your gonna get till you already purchased the game. PC gaming requires constant attention, tweaking, and frequently upgrading your system, patching your games, and working around on-line cheaters to enjoy.

So the PC games I play and love are of the old-school RPG vain. They are the best the genre has to offer, and you dont have to deal with the headaches of PC action/FPS/online games.

I don't have anything against console shooters, I do find pad controls horrible, they take all the fun away from the game for me, but obviously not all people feel this way and I can understand how some people love console FPS.

However, PC FPSes are diffrent, they are faster, more difficult and more varticaly-varied than console ones because of controls, they have that certain kind of "sharpness" console ones lack. Unfortunately it's rare to see it anymore, as most FPSes are now multiplatform, which means the "Sharpness" almost dissapeared from the genre unfortunately :( That's why 2007 was so refreshing for me with ArmA, STALKER and Crysis, a quality non-consolized FPSes. Altough I do understand those will be becoming more and more rare (altough I hope smaller devs will fill the void with smaller-budgeted but more hardcore PC-only FPSes like they did with many other genres in recent couple years)

Like another user said though, PC gamers don't have any shooter of their own now a day. Most PC shooters most beloved shooter of recent day are available on consoles( the Half-Life games, portal, TF2, Bioshock).

On top of that Im not very good with computers so Im not really aboe to just build my own computer and I certainly am not rich enough to buy a computle capable of playing the only shooter I want thats PC exclusive(Crysis) and I certainly wouldnt waste the money to get a computer just to play one game on it.
