System Shock fans, get ready for a treat. It appears that a new part based on this legendary game series will be announced this Monday. This won’t be a remake of older SS titles or a re-release. This will be the third part of the series, and will most probably get a Kickstarter campaign.

As we’ve already reported, Night Dive Studios currently holds all IP rights for System Shock. Our guess is that Night Dive Studios will let OtherSide Entertainment develop System Shock 3. After all, Night Dive Studios is currently busy with the Remake of System Shock 1.

Do note that OtherSide Entertainment is also working on a new Ultima Underworld game, Underworld Ascendant, that was successfully funded via Kickstarter back in February, 2015.

Looking Glass is founded by original Co-founders of Looking Glass Studios and the logo of their company is the same as the symbol of Keepers from Thief trilogy.

Grab System Shock 2 on gog for few bucks and apply the HD mod. Good to go

Hopefully it will have console release as a stretch goal. I'd hate to see the PC version getting harmstrung by consoles.

You still can buy SS2 on GoG. I never finished it back then and I bought it again about two years ago and played through the whole game. It didn't age one bit, still awesome. I would eve suggest to avoid the new 3D models and textures, because the original looks and fits the atmosphere much better. It is still one of if not the best game of all time.

Hey, even SS1 is still worth playing, but it needs to be modded to enable mouselook. Or just wait for the remake.

System Shock 1 is being remade as well. Man Looking Glass made so many awesome games. In my opinion, they were the best PC devs of 90s, only topped by Origin.

Like. Should be good as the first SS games are great. They have been often copied but never really surpassed. Even if I have to upgrade my PC to play it!

All of them were awesome but TBH, I liked the stuff from Origin and Looking Glass the most. All of them you listed were great obviously as well as others too, like Westwood, Blizzard, Valve, Sierra and so on.

oh god I forgot about Sierra , those good old days and now look at where we are ... Bethesda ruined Fallout , Square Enix ruined Thief , Bioware ruined Baldur's Gate . if OtherSide screw this up too , this gen turns to a clusterfuck

Yeah man,,, TBH the company that I miss the most is Sierra Entertainment, because they were not only top of the line devs but also publisher of so many great games like FEAR, SWAT 4, No one lives forever, Half Life, World in Conflict and so on. It was a terrible day when studio shut down last gen.

Now Activision is trying to fool people with the so called "revival" of Sierra Entertainment but we all know, that the company will never be the same again. Another reason to hate Last gen.

Ken Levine tries to shove too many things in one story. System Shock 2 and The Dark Project were both enjoyable but at some point, one can easily tell that it's written by Ken Levine, and we can see the same problem in some parts of Bioshock: Infinite as well.

When it works it's great. The Dark Project's twist worked great IMO. It changed the tone of the game but then sometimes it felt a bit too much; you had ghosts, zombies, pagan evil thingies and so many other things in one game.

The Metal Age, tried to fix it by mostly removing super natural stuff from the game and focusing more on humans and technology. But those super natural forces in The Dark Project also made the game a lot more darker and atmosphere more immersive. So, it worked IMO.

That voice was the stuff of nightmares, a cold logical hatred, and it just sounded purely awesome ^^ I So hope the real reveal has Shodans voice :D I kind of hope they can make her sound as intimidating as SS2, but a colder harder electronic effect would be somewhat nice.

Of course who knows how it will sound, given the ending of SS2, right?
