Hooray, a fucking sequel.

Let's wait and see if Ken Levine is behind this or not
Ken Levine tries to shove too many things in one story. System Shock 2 and The Dark Project were both enjoyable but at some point, one can easily tell that it's written by Ken Levine, and we can see the same problem in some parts of Bioshock: Infinite as well.
Infinite was his greatest sin to date.
personally I loved the Dark project.
This is an amazing game series back from When Games Were Good. Get excited. Wait. Stop getting excited. This is 2015. The fucking thing will probably be released in episodes with day one DLC, preorder 'bonuses' and riddled with microtransactions.
It's System Shock captain, but not as we know it.
It sickens me that EA had it's grubby little corporate hands on this IP for this long.
Gaming copyright needs... **** it, copyright needs a revolution, and no one company should be able to hold any intellectual property hostage and never use it.
I''m worried about it with no Ken Levine.
Interest is definitely piqued though.
right now what worries me the most is seeing system shock become consolized

My biggest worry is consolization.
Otherside is also developing Underworld Ascendant, which is sequel to Ultima Underworld 2 and it's being developed as PC only. I don't think they'll consolize it. There is a reason why they are looking for crowd funding. It's not like it's funded by EA or someone similar.
Cool. I've never played any System Shock, but I'll keep an eye on this fur shur.
You still can buy SS2 on GoG. I never finished it back then and I bought it again about two years ago and played through the whole game. It didn't age one bit, still awesome. I would eve suggest to avoid the new 3D models and textures, because the original looks and fits the atmosphere much better. It is still one of if not the best game of all time.
Hey, even SS1 is still worth playing, but it needs to be modded to enable mouselook. Or just wait for the remake.
Noice, I'll take a look, thanks! Love me some old school FPSs.

Yeah, I know but while Underworld is a pure RPG and System Shock is Shooter/RPG. Being an FPS it is more susceptible to downgrade/consolization.
Doug Church, leave Valve now!

I really doubt it but you'll never know
They need Doug Church. From what I know of SS1 it was him who made the advanced movement/control systems that were all physics-ey swish. I don’t have the irrational hatred for Ken Levine that a lot people seem to have developed post-Infinite, and I do think he’s a good writer, but I don’t think we need him for this series. He didn’t even work on the first game. My guess is that they’ll tap Austin Grossman, who wrote SS1.
@Cloud_imperium: @the_master_race: If i'm WB and i have Monolith, you know what will be my next game ? :D

Good guy Night Dive Studios. :)
god I wish you were WB ....
@foxhound_fox: lol wut
EA bought the rights to the IP way back when, then sat on it for over a decade. Refusing to make a sequel, or refusing to release it for digital download. Then that expired and now we got the re-release and a sequel.

Irrelevant concept, the notion that the IP laws need changing just because a company isn't touching an IP anymore is fucking stupid and ignorant. It ignores the financial viability of an IP, it ignores creative limitations (plenty of IPs shouldn't get sequels, because this medium should be focusing on actual creating new things). What you said was dumb as shit, like offensively stupid.
