What's disapointing is that so little of that translates into exclusive games I'm interested in. I gamed almost exclusively on PC in 2013 (except GTA V and TLOU), but I only bought one PC exclusive (Antichamber). The rest of the games were multiplats that I suspect are primarily getting their income from consoles (DmC, Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed 4 and so on).
Even though PC-gaming is a massive industry I still feel like the console market is what brings in the dough to make the sort of gaming I like possible.
It is if PC gaming was half as good and popular as hermits claim it to be Consoles would be on their way out not making record sales.

The 1.5 billion Face book l link was enough thanks for that, but I still can't find a source the TCs link is using.
Most of this is from casual bejewel games and MMO's. For actual hardcore core, core games, console gamers are the ones who actually drop the pennys. Statistics have shown 95% of people playing Ubisoft titles stole them.
Not statistics, but Guillemot talking out of his ass.

Ah. It's understandable why Ubisoft dislike pc gamers.

A Hermit provided links for information yet what did you contribute other than making assumption because facebook games are pc games without knowing you can play them on a android

I don't have the breakdown numbers, but I disagree there's nothing that suggests it. I think it's pretty clear Ubisoft prioritize the console version of Assassin's Creed by for example delaying the PC version. Some similar games like RDR and GTAV (they are similar enough for this context) don't release on PC at all and still sell extremely well.
Is there anything suggesting AC4 (for example) sells as good or better on PC?
@Shielder7:
The article from the TC link got the information from DFC Intelligence a market research firm
Yeah but find exactly where he pulled it from so I have no idea what they're considering PC gaming or using. like the poster above said 2 free to play PC games earned more than 1.5 billion $$ combined. Nuff said.
These aren't part of the AAA gaming pie and would explain why PCs get multiplats as an almost after thought.
Also this 25 billion is a prediction
So even if that research included facebook games ( which does not ) they account 1,4 billion out of an industry that expected to exceed 25billion this year ( software only ) . Also according to that research the games that do well are Mobas ( aka dota 2 ,LOL ), traditional model ( one time fee and sites BF4 and TW2 as doing great ), F2p and kickstarter games
The only one in denial seems to be some consolites who fail to see despite new consoles launch pc still grows and is bigger than either Ps or Xbox brands
@Sushiglutton:
They didn't delay the pc version of AC4. RDR and GTAV aren't even exclusives its on two platforms with a large userbase.
AC4 was on steam top 10 seller list when it was released and it still in the top seller list so I don't know I'm sure it did decent

Did you not read the article they said BF4 and Total War sales were doing good so of course they counted AAA games.
Yea because most pc multiplat games are late right?

Worded that poorly, what I meant is that the PC version of AC is released a month after the console one and this was true for AC4 too. Not sure what GTAV and RDR being on two consoles has to do with anything. Point is they sold really well without the PC.
I'm sure AC4 did fine on PC and clearly Ubi thinks it's profitable to release it on the platform. That doesn't suggest how the PC-version did relative the console one though.

If 2 free to play PC games earned more than 1.5 billion $$combined. If we add all the other FTP games , micro-transactions sales + subs + MMOs that aren't FTP like WoW+ digital sales of indie games + hardware sales and who knows if they include Kickstarter or early access games than even without adding casual facebook games there isn't much of that pie left for AAA games.
Like I said you just can't use one big number and use it to represent a small portion of a pie chart that's beyond dumb with obvious fallacies. Doesn't matter anyway Like a few hermits pointed out you don't need a PC to PC game anymore Tablets and Macs are taking over and those refusing to upgrade to Tablets and Macs are denying the future.
@Sushiglutton:
AC4 came out the same time as the ps4 and xbox one. When you have two platforms with a large install bases a game can sell really well. Diablo 3 sold very well before they released the console versions with over 13 million sold.
We don't know unless they released official sales for all platforms that's why I only suggest it sold decent.

lol kickstarter and hardware sales those aren't counted for pc gaming market you honestly think they included money from those. The research from DFC is on how much money was generated from different pc games. Not only that don't tell me you believe someone who just spouted two f2p games made over 1.5 billion
So even if that research included facebook games ( which does not ) they account 1,4 billion out of an industry that expected to exceed 25billion this year ( software only ) . Do you have any numbers here or are you just making assumptions ? Also those 2 games are by far the biggest F2P games and MMO's have been in decline unlike traditional one time fee AAA games ( again as the research sited those games saw a growth over last year and it specifically named BF4 an TW2 ).
Also Lol gaming at Macs and Tablets ( oh and btw macs are pc's long are the days they werent using x86 hardware ) . And if Macs and tablets are taking over i certainly would love to see them how they compare to that 25billion from pc gaming so unless you come up with any numbers you are just making assumptions
I think Shielder7 might just be the most butthurt insecure anti pc console kid with inferiority complex of the year. Guy is literally constantly arguing against facts and pulling info out of his ass. Face it little chum, PC is a monster when it comes to generating dat young money! It stings and bothers you so much that you have to go out of your way to constantly lie in your futile attempt to go up against facts. How many times are you gonna keep getting owned before you open up your eyes and start accepting the facts?
PC has themost high scoring games, sales, genres, and population.
This is a simple reason why? MORE GAMES. Number of PC games released is like 4 or 5:1 versus game consoles. For example that XBox 360 and PS3 has a combined total games of about 2200 for 8 years. PC probably has closer to 12,000 games in that time period. About 1/2 of these games never even see a gaming website and even less get a review.
Agreed. Yet another benefit of PC.
But my friend, do not forget the bolded of my quote.

Most publishers hate pc gaming. Rockstar haven't even acknowledged the half a million pc gamers (most of whom probably wont buy it) begging like mad for Grand Theft Auto 97 metacritic.

Explain in what planet MMO is not a hardcore gamer compared to someone who played TombRaider, Uncharted, or Halo...games with a much smaller skillcaps and hours played......
Graphs show you are wrong either way.

Publishers don't hate PC gaming. If they estimate that their game won't sell well on PC, they won't release it on PC. Simple as that. And no petition could change that. GTA 5 will get released on PC sooner or later.
Whats great about this thread is people trying to dismiss the factual link the OP showed by stating their opinion.
Shielder and other trolls have yet to link data showing that most of that profit was "Facebook" games or why MMOs do not count or why publishers "hate" PC and that these numbers are false.
It's sad really, the anti-PC brigade can only use opinions.

Also RTS games dont count, low budget games are not games and games without an ad campaign on TV are not relevant . Add that to MMO's and F2P games not counting because apparently "not hardcore enough for console standards" ( despite the 2 most profitable f2p games Dota and LOL are probably 2 of the most hardcore games ) and then Pc is a small market
Do you have any numbers here or are you just making assumptions ?
Do you or are you? those numbers from the FTP came from other people on this thread so ask them.
I hate to break it to you but that 25 billion is just a future prediction and kinda high since the total video game market for 2012 was only 20 billion.
http://www.theesa.com/facts/pdfs/esa_ef_2013.pdf
But I'm not the one using 25 billion to represent which could be a small piece of an entire pie chart if that's not the king of all assumptions I don't know what is.

Of-course the numbers won't match up.

Yeah PC might have 12000 games but less than 1000 of them are even worth playing and PC is the platform with the most games with a MC under 40. Quality over quantity my friend.

it still has more high rated exclusives ( A,AA and AAA ) than the 2 HD twins combined so what does it matter if it has more bad games as well. Do you buy bad games or something ?
so i guess if you buy games on impulse without even remotely looking if a game is good or not then yeah pc is not for you
