[QUOTE="SgtWhiskeyjack"][QUOTE="Subcritical"][QUOTE="SgtWhiskeyjack"] I'm the same myself and I agree. I've also wasted a lot of money on games that simply won't run on Vista. Sounds like you have a beef with Microsoft. Do you own a 360? Maybe instead of making a console with defective hardware, they should of spent that cash on making their software work. Also the new protection on games is a pain and makes installing it a right chore, You are correct. Installing games with protection is a "right" chore. It is "right" because it will prevent theft and benefit PC gaming.then signing up to a download site to get the latest patch, Signing up to get a patch? I have no idea what you mean. Is this like signing up to Xbox Live to get patches for Xbox games? Maybe you have your platforms confused. then trying to optimise performance and graphics, Selecting settings is a benefit, tweaking ini's etc are a benefit and aren't necessary then like with Gothic3, getting a fatal exception error every 6 minutes of playing Lumping all PC games into one experience isn't a good thing to do. I guess this is how 360 owners feel when people complain about the "Red Ring of Death" except the "Red Ring of Death" affects a far higher percentage than one PC game.

Wow, you really took my post apart. I have no problem with Vista as an operating system, everything runs fine...except some companies games. Guild Wars, HL2, NWN2, Colin McCrea Dirt, C&C TW, STALKER, all run like a dream, Gothic 3, TW PGA tour 07, DMC3 and few others don't. Not MS fault.
I do own a 360, it is a launch console and I've had zero defects and it will stay like that because I'm soon upgrading to an Elite.
As for the protection system, it is a pain in the butt, I always have to run the game as administator. I know that it's a good thing for copywrite protection, but unlike steam, it's not user friendly.
Performance issues with DX9 have been a fairly substantial concern.
Interesting how you upgrade your console, a piece of hardware and ideal that is revered to not have to be upgraded, yet if one upgrades a PC, many state, "you have to upgrade your PC every six months." In both platforms, that is the users option, not necessary.
My laptop was £2000, I have no problem spending money on gaming, apart from golf, it's my main hobby.
