I have had a Steam account for many years now. Every year Steam has big sales at the end of the year, which is great but for one thing. It is mostly the same damn games every year, year after year. Aside from the odd multiplat game or obscure indie game that shows up from time to time, there is not a whole lot that is new. Steam is stuck in a rut and i dont see things getting any better. My Steam library is getting rather "old". Will things get more exciting for PC games this year?

No PC's glory years are long gone. It's all about those consoles now. It's sad when people with a titan can't get great performance out of many multiplat games these days.

What glory days? PC gaming is better than ever and more popular than ever.

What games are Titans struggling on?

AC4.

True. I get 20 fps in Nassau with a 7950 OC on MEDIUM.

Ubisoft Kiev didn't bother adding basic multicore cpu support. One core is at 100% usage the others are barely touched.

That game is one of the biggest FU to their customers in the last few years.

But hardcore hermits don't care, they'll just blame themselves for their puny hardware and keep buyin that crap day-one.

Meanwhile, AC4 runs flawlessly on the ps4 with nearly identical Ultra settings.

Either you're full of shit or your processor is bottlenecking you HARD. I play on a GTX 760 which isn't much more powerful than a 7950 and I can run the game with FXAA on and everything else maxed and get an average of 40 (never dipping below 30) in Nassau. This video doesn't back up your ridiculous claim either: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPxotWk0QQo

But keep trolling bro.

Yes I probably have a weaker cpu than you so I get 10 fps less than you. 20fps I mentioned is obviously not average but the lowest dip.

That is when I tried MEDIUM plus AA 4x. Can't play with less than that AA and that was with day-one version (1.0 I think).

Idk about recent development, as I got my money back. The only way I could play it was on minimum no AA and still couldn't get steady 60fps.

How can you play with FXAA is beyond me, your game must be a jaggy mess.

Still looks worse than the ps4 version, performs worse, and on much more powerful hardware.

As I said and clyde confirmed with his link the game is not optimized for s*** for multicore support.

So basically Ubisoft (esp. Kiev division) not only doesn't give a c*** about their customers but outright lies to them.

You seriously must not be getting the most out of that GPU. I'm getting a lot more than 10 FPS over you because my settings aren't on medium. All my settings are maxed and even on 4x MSAA the lowest I get in Nassau is about 33 FPS with an average of 40 or higher. I could see you getting sub-30 FPS dips if all your settings were maxed maybe. And yes Black Flag is poorly optimized for PC, I don't think anyone would argue otherwise. But if you really are getting FPS dips that low on medium with that graphics card there's got to be something slowing it up.

Well you said you did play with only FXAA on.

You could try to lower the settings to more or less all medium with MSAA 4x like I was, then see what fps you get in Nassau.

Personally I think the issue stems from the piss poor core management, due to my old Phenom 955 at 3.8ghz, using basically just one core it must've been a helluva cpu bottleneck.

But the weird thing is i used to get awful fps even with everything on minimum.

However there's people runnin a 3670k OCed still having enormous fps fluctuations and dips below 30fps.

My point is, AC4 shouldn't require a 1000$ rig to be played at 30fps locked maxed out. And yes, it only has double buffering vsync, so it defaults to 30fps whenever under 60.

Heck, it should run at steady 60fps, it ain't no Crysis 3

On that note, has anyone tried DayZ yet? I've heard good things, but I'm hesitant to pay $30 for a game still in alpha.

I still play one PC game - Dawn of War 2 Retribution but I am done with PC games. It got boring and expensive over the years. There aren't many games that I am interested in playing.
