Firstly how this is all set in Lara's beginnings, before she became an established explorer and archaeologist. Which is part of the point. Yes she starts out frail and vulnerable, but this is all about how Lara becomes the strong and courageous adventurer we know her to be. It's her journey of self discovery, a tale of growth and evolution.

The woman we'll see by the journey's end will be starkly different from what we've seen in the trailers.

Oh sure I understand that. It still doesn't change the fact that we're SUPPOSED to feel like her protector. Her knight in shining white armor. The developers know that a lot of gamers like that, but I'm not one of them. :P
