the hd 2600 xt outperforms my 7800 GTX why? because the 2600 owns the 7950 GT which is more powerful than a 7800 gtx.

Who gives a damn about your graphics opinons that only takes the textures in consideration??! Any card could support a texture that looks real... If it is only small enough..

It is the performance that matters.. And no... UT3 on medium does not equal crysis.. Oblivion is more similar to Crysis in scale... Which means it is a more accurate comparison for graphics...

Please do not listen to this guy. Cutting corners left and right for the sake of "beating a PS3 in price" is one of the worst ways you can build a PC and will cause much frustration and pain later on.

• The X2 series of processors are fine for most games, they're plenty fast and very cheap nowadays so at least that's good component for "on the cheap" gaming.
• No real problems with the MoBo, RAM or DVD drive, they're pretty standard and expect to spend that much.
• The 2600HD is a mid to low-end card nowadays, it will not last you very long: http://anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3023&p=11 A sad 24.2 FPS in Supreme Commander (early this year!) at 1280x1024 with AA/AF off. It's just going to get worse, and no, UT3 is not indicative of most games in today's market.
• Crappy no-name power supplies with unstable power draw will cause stability problems when your GPU needs the juice. Since you're getting a Crossfire MoBo anyway, why not spend $100 on a quality PSU so you can upgrade later on without spending another $50 on one later?
• Unless you like losing your data, do not buy a cheap hard drive. It doesn't even make sense, for $100 you can get a nice 320GB hard from a known vendor like Seagate or Western Digital.
• Running without a case is pure stupidity. Yes, some benchmark sites do it - because they're swapping out components all the time and the case gets in the way. For a PC that's sitting there? Look forward to dust clogging your CPU/GPU fans and listening to its whir, just like having an XBox 360 next to your ear.
• And don't advocate piracy; you might as well say PC gaming is cheaper b/c you have the option of d/l'ing all your games "for free". This is a part of the reason why PC developers don't see the same profits as console developers do.

A blu-ray drive is like $400 bucks. So if you replace that with the DVD-RW drive, it wouldmore closely reflect the value.

Well everybody basically has a PC so you can reuse your monitor and put all the compenents in the case you have now, dont have to go out and buy new KB/M, Monitor, speakers, HD, DVD drive, etc when you already have it right now.
