[QUOTE="deadmeat59"]how many pc gamers are out their? ms says that over 80% of pc users are gamers . But then why does so few major pc sellers don't put in gaming gpu ? most pcs you buy even the 800$ ones don't have a gaming cpu . if 80% game on pc why is their so little demand for gaming pc?ZIMdoom

When MS says 80% of PC users are gamers, they are including the people who have a PC and occassionally play solitaire, minesweeper, bejewelled, majong, etc.

Where did they said that?

hes probably right, if 80% of the entire PC users played retail games ... then the gaming market as a whole would be much larger.

ROFL, did you see the benchmarks with AA. Point proven.

What the hell are you looking at honestly?

Lets take Anno 1701 for example

At 1600 by 1200 the 3870x2 has a 35% lead over the 8800 Ultra with NO AA

With 8xAA it has a 84% lead

Same settings No AA on Oblvion the 3870x2 has a 25% lead

8xAA it has a 85% lead

FEAR SAME SETTINGS No AA 28% lead

8xAA 65% lead!!!

Dude you just royaly owned yourself, I know it doesn't do this every game they test, but it does with the majority of them so you saying it's AA fails is laughable because if anything it shows the exact opposite.

I'm sorry but majority of trusted review sites says otherwise.

Come now, 80% games maybe, not Retail games ... 80% of the entire worlds PCs? including office only? I'm not saying games are not played on these machines but retail games nonono.

Oh I know its logically sound to assume that 80% of the worlds PCs are not used for gaming, but at the same time its not proper decorum to state it as a fact without proof.

What a coincidence. I especially like how you admit I am being "logically sound" buy still demand I prove with scientific fact. And once again, there is not one single FACT to back up the original claim made by MS, but of course you will take their word for it because MS is so reliable and always tells the truth..ZIMdoom

*yawn* This is just getting way too easy. Here's an old link from an actual study that was done by another company. So the actual number is most likely higher now (The article says 61%...not 80%). This took me all of two seconds to find.

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0EIN/is_2000_March_7/ai_60003276

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 7, 2000--Media Metrix (NASDAQ:
MMXI), the pioneer and leader in Internet and Digital Media
measurement worldwide, reports that sixty-one percent of all U.S. home
PC users, or 54.1 million people, played a PC game in the month of
December 1999. Among game players overall, Solitaire and other
Windows-bundled games ranked in the top five with 36.5 million people
total. NVision Elf Bowling achieved the highest rating of any
non-bundled game with 7.6 million users, making it the sixth most
popular PC game. Another NVision game, Elf Frogapult, came close,
ranking number 11 with 1.6 million users.

The story started to circulate heavily what a bunch of low lifes run that site and after weeks of them getting pounding, when it looked like the story might actually destroy them entirely the owner finally apologized after weeks of wrting nasty emails to the banned people telling them how dare they talk about something that never happend.

That sites the biggest hardware joke on the internet.

That's because most PC gamers prefer to make their own PCs. Prebuilt PCs are crap, and are not suited in any way to used for gaming.

Oh and didn't Nvidia win company of the year 07 from Forbes?

lettuceman44

bah Nvidia.

Ati ftw.

ATI is trash.

shows how much you know about computers.

They got the best bang for the buck card out there right now. The 3870x2.

None of the companies are trash, but Nvidia hasn't made any breakthrough advances lately.

ATI is total garbage. I've been a hardcore gamre for 20 years. Try tell me ATI isn't trash, I'll be forced to laugh in your face.

Not every PC is sold for gaming, thousand can be order by corparate buyers with no gaming in mind. It's not really a shocking figure though, i bet 80% of pc users work and home have played a game on their machine.

This isn't really a comparison with consoles, the PC userbase wouldn't even need to touch 80% of PC users to beat any single console(maybe even all of them combined).

They mean 80% have played a game of somekind on the windows platform,so for example a person plays a game of pinball that comes bundled with windows means there a 'gamer'.

i think somebody in the pc gaming buisness should bring a high end prebuilt pc at a reasonable price around 1000$ with a motherboard capable of upgrade maybe it will bring newcomer to pc .

Anandtech don't bother test past 4x AA since they start at resolutions 1600x1200 then end up at 2,560 x 1,600....

I won't use ATi simply because they have weak ass drivers that are released late.

3870x2 is crap. Throw AA in any game and the FPS will tank.

How can you call it crap if it was graphics king before the 9800gx2 came out. Now that you clearly showed your fanboyism I don't see any reason to debate with you. Now maybe if you would debate logically instead of OMG the sucks cause it is not Nvidia!

Also Nvidia when the lazy and cheap route, the 9800gx2 is just two cards slapped together. If you take it apart, you can clearly see that while ATi was the first to put both GPU's on one pcb board. Also the price is great, compared to the 9800gx2.

That's because most PC gamers prefer to make their own PCs. Prebuilt PCs are crap, and are not suited in any way to used for gaming.

Oh and didn't Nvidia win company of the year 07 from Forbes?

imprezawrx500

bah Nvidia.

Ati ftw.

ATI is trash.

shows how much you know about computers.

They got the best bang for the buck card out there right now. The 3870x2.

None of the companies are trash, but Nvidia hasn't made any breakthrough advances lately.

its far bang for buck, a 9600gt will run all games except crysis maxed out for under 1/4 the price, a highend card is never bang for buck, but ati do have some great value cards

ah, that is true. Forgot about the 9600gt, well the best bang for the buck high end card is the 3870x2.

Anandtech, firingsquad, hardocp.

what the heck are you talking about. First hardocp was basically proven that they were basically all nvidia, and second Anandtech said the exact same thing you said.

There freakin article title for the card is called "A Return to the High End".

yeah both companies are great.. I prefer nvidia though.. I bought the 8800gt and couldnt be happier.. a card that can play any game on max with the exception of crysis (which i play on very high with no AA) is a great card for me

yea, it is ok to prefer a company, but at least you realize the others are great too. As for me, I prefer ATi, but I got myself some nvidia cards as well.

Anandtech, firingsquad, hardocp.

Way to retreat    First you CLAIM the site I posted PROVES your point??!? Now you backpedal?

Anandtech, firiingsquad, HardOCP, etc , never ever test any AA setting above 4x buddy and your full of it if you think HardOCP is a trusted site, thier a Nvidia owned site.

They once even freaking banned dozens of users on their forums for talking about and edit they may in one of their reviews. People who had been with their site for years.

Nvidia owned? Prove it. They clearly like ATI cards, after they praised the 3870's value, and the older X1900 series.

3870 runs 2x faster than Nvidias 8800 GTX card, just tested them.
