PC gaming isn't all that great if it lacks the Dev support consoles get

Aside from Shooters and RTS games, what genres have games released this generation that truly take advantage of all the technical prowess of modern gaming computers that could not have been enjoyed in a cheaper more user friendly manner on a console, what good is a gtx480 if I'm not into Mass Effect or The Witcher and I want to play some FF or other Japanese RPGs, Fightining games and worse yet, the first party franchises consoles have, like Halo, Mario, Gran Turismo etc

Everything from Steam to Mods is absolutely great and i understand why PC gamers love them, however the games some people want to play are not always on PC, its the old cliché, gaming is never about the hardware but always about the games.

What is your point? Do you want to discuss something?

There are popular genres that sell well, and in this day and age not many devs are willing to step outside of "comfort zones" in order to experiment. Development costs have ballooned this gen, and have only just started coming back down (I read a quote somewhere by a dev IIRC).

PC gaming wouldnt exsist to the extent it is today if it wasnt for Microsoft, and all you need to know is look how much time, money, and marketing they put into the 360. If you talk to devs, company execs, the people that actually are in the middle of this trying to make money they would laugh at the things that people in this forum try to pass off. PC gaming is the most powerful gaming, but its also the least played. People rather play PS3, 360, and WII, and play online w/ LIVE in which they are willing to pay for it. This isnt even debatable.

Saying it lacks dev support makes absolutely no sense. The very fact that patches exist is proof of that.

PC isnt just RTS and FPS! My fav genre is RPG and PC is best for RPGS imo (the best western rpgs, JRPGS not so much).

Those are claims that need to be backed. Stating they are common sense does not make it so, especially in a market as varied as our global one.

You are stating things like they are facts, but I can nigh on guarantee you'll be able to present no proof. Thus making your points about as worthwhile as a chocolate fireguard.

I agree that it has the most exclusives that is a fact, but I'll point to your signature to further exemplify my point yet again, im trying to make a point, what good is highly powered Gaming PC with a 480GTX capable of 16x AA for most games and extremely high resolutions, 8GB of DDR3 Ram etc if I want to Play Halo Reach? Consoles have games that are simply more appealing for a considerably sized audience and NOT on PC.TheOldOlder

Hardware advancement has been well ahead of software advancement for a while now. It won't stay this way, but it's likely due to ballooning dev costs like I said.

Those components aren't a necessity, as the PC still has excellent and great looking PC games whilst running on mid-end hardware (for the most part).

That's cool and I respect people for preferring games on consoles to the ones on PC. But this is System Wars. An argument based on which game you prefer doesn't bring anything solid to discuss since in the end it's only about preference.

NPD are starting to track DD sales now, due to its huge increase in popularity, and I do believe they track PC retail (though I may be wrong).

So you're not going to provide links, because there are none backing up your points? Fair enough. Everything you said is henceforth disregarded due to lack of *any* evidence whatsoever.

PC doesn't really lack dev support unless you're talking about a lot of Japanese devs.

I dont think people realize just how limited the appeal of console gaming is, the consoles only attract certain types of games and gamers. Not everyone wants to play the next big open world or sci-fi game, most people would rather just play online poker, farmville, world of warcraft or starcraft 2. Like it or not, free to play games that profit from advertising and micro-transactions are slowly taking over. sure consoles are popular, they always have been in the media spotlight since the nes days. Its ok to like console gaming better, but pc gaming is quite a strong market that is vastly different to the ps3, xbox 360 or wii.
