PC gaming peaked in 2004 and hasn't peaked since.
But it's not dead - hardly. I still prefer to play on my PC over my PS3, for example.

2005 was the beginning of the end, but yeah, 2005 was still a good year. 2004 had a few more memorable releases up its sleeve, though.
I'd say it's more like 1998-2001: Half-Life, Quake 3 Arena, Thief 2, Deus Ex, System Shock 2, Max Payne... that wasn't just PC gaming peaking, that was a peak so high that no platform, PC or console, will ever reach it again.PC gaming peaked in 2004 and hasn't peaked since.
