I want to buy a gaming system that will endure through the years? Will the gaming market be stronger on the PC or on the consoles on the future?

Yes, that is a huuuuuge pro. The only real con for me is the console exclusives I don't want to miss, but the PC also offers some interesting titles. However, I can't afford both.
Also, I feel myself very addicted to PC (at least I did when I was a PC gamer back in 2005) and consoles don't really addict me that much, so I get more time to do other stuff.

Not really, a lot of console games now require installs aswell. At least on the PS3 because my cousin has one.
[QUOTE="ShadowDeathX"]Consoles = plug and play PC=endless updates and installs It sure does suck to have games that are constantly supportedBuy a PC. Have fun with games of next-generation, this generation, and past generations with no to little hassle. :)

Yeah same here. I thought I played alot of games on my PS3 but that was nothing compared to now on my PC.I say PC, because I have never gamed as much as I have since I switched to PC.

Go for PC so you can play all games from multiple generations on a single system. PC also has some advantages; superior multiplats, better graphics and performance.
For me personally, the only console I'm eyeing for in next-gen is the PS4. But I will only buy it for exclusives though, so when Sony has released enough exclusives, I'll buy it.
Not gonna get a console from Microsoft and Nintendo. They're dead already.
[QUOTE="ShadowDeathX"]Consoles = plug and play PC=endless updates and installs Whom are you trying to fool exactly? I have to update my PS3 and install PS3 games just like on PC, and the HDD on PS3 is slow as hell compared to my PC's SSD.Buy a PC. Fortunately my PC and PS3 are connected to the same monitor, so I can swap to PC and play something while the PS3 was very very slowly updating/installing.

Everyone is entitled to believe what they want. Even when it isn't true.

You didn't drop another $50-120 on your PS3 to get a better HD? Damn I found it to be a necessity.
PC.
As mentioned, it's got no generations, and you'll be able to play most games from the past, the present and the future.
I would say instead wait until the enxt gen consles become affordable, maybe even towards the end of the next generation. This way, you'll have played just about everytying worth playing on PC, and towards the end of the gen, you cna pick up a discounted console for under $100, and play all the exclusives you missed - each probably available for super cheap.
PC for me. I can game on it. I can surf and post here at Gamespot SW with it. Plus, if I'm taking a break from gaming on it and otherwise not doing productive work on it, I can edit my console screengrabs with it.

No HDD is anywhere close to a SSD.Honestly I don't plan on buying a next-gen console right now. The Wii-U sucks because it's wimpy and has a gimmicky controller that will probably give me a migrain, the Xbox 720 will likely suck because it won't have enough exclusives and will focus on Kinect, and the PS4 may well suck because Sony can't afford a repeat of the PS3 and will likely just copy their competitors (i.e. casualization and cheap hardware).
Besides, I'm having too much fun with my PC, and by the time the next gen rolls around I will be making some even beefier upgrades to my rig. I won't want to drop money on a console, because since they'll end up costing $400-500 I would rather just spend that money on PC hardware and games. The PC is a true bastion for hardcore gaming, and with the rapid casualization of consoles it may well end up being the last bastion.
At least on PC, if people don't like the games that are being made they can make their own and self-publish them. I doubt a game like Artemis would have happened on a console.
If its anything like the other gens: PC
-> It lasts longer each gen, (doesn't have dry spells near the end like consoles)
-> Gfx always top notch (again, no end of gen gfx cap like consoles)
-> Usually the most exclusives/games/genres
-> Tends to stray away from gimmicks which result in more casual titles (kinect/wii/move; WiiU lol handscreen)
well Both really. But at the start of a Gen I tend to feel it more valuable to get a PC, since the Console Exlusives don't tend to appear much the first years.
In the end pros and cons give away for preferences, so its down to what you really want TC, not what is most logical.

I prefer consoles, PC is my least favorite platform. I even prefer Wii and other motion controls over it.
