Now that you're in PC gaming you should learn what fps and Anti-Aliasing is Butters. :Ptagyhaghe didnt know what fps and aa were?
[QUOTE="Slashkice"]Yeah a friend of mine told me about how i missed the big sales. i'll keep an eye on the next patch of sales. do they have sales more often? PSN does it every week and they had a big one dring the holidays tho i missed the PSN sales as wellI don't know if I should consider you lucky or misfortunate for missing the Christmas sale, but welcome to PC gaming!
Now go buy Amnesia.
Edit: For speed, both seem the same to me, though Steam fluctuates more. Then again, there's not a crazy sale going on in PSN when I download from there.

As far as PSN vs Steam speeds, I get 2-3 mbps on Steam, don't know how fast PSN goes for some people.
tagyhag
lol you still call me that :P >_>... tho yeah guess little by little..anti-alising.. hmm sounds somehow..complicated :/..:P
You should be proud, I only give worthy people nicknames. :x
More anti-aliasing: Edges look smoother.
Proud i am then :P. will be studying more on this once im free, i sure need to study more stuff about the PC overall.. i seriously thought steam was the only service offering games on PC .. plz dont laugh -_-

I own BC2 on PS3 and kinda regret buying it for full price, i only played that game for like a few games then before i know it i was back to Call of Duty, thing is all my friends play call of duty :P tho i will look around and see about Recettear as for your questions:
- Im into everything now, i used to only like JRPGs but after owning the PS3 for a couple of years now it pretty much changed my taste, i play everything now from FPS's to platformers to anything.
- A bit important
- Sure no problem at all, i mean MW2 was too buggy but i still played that for so long
- Not important
- have yet to play an mmo and a wrpg
Thanks and will check it out

I am sure you will love recettear there is even a demo out for it. As for what you say I would recommend the following games
As a starter WRPG: I would recommend Mass Effect 1 and if you like that go and play Mass Effect 2. They are fun although quite shallow at the same time. Dragon Age: Origins is another good starting point, lower difficulties allow even the most inexperienced gamer beat the game without a lot of problems while the harder difficulties allow can challange even RPG veterans, how nice of them to include friendly fire. Right now I am playing and enjoying Two Worlds 2 (not on steam yet), Divinity 2: Dragon Knight Saga (contains a remastered Divinity 2 and its expansion) and still playing Mount&Blade: Warband (ugly but the battle system and undermining the whole political infrastructure makes it one of my favorite games this generation). Get Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic (last gen game) as well, it is said to be one of the greatest WRPG's ever made. The Witcher is really slow in the beginning and I would recommend you hold onto that one. Speaking of which get Fallout New Vegas, there is no level scaling but at the same time it is quite buggy, but you should be able to look past any glitches. Forgot Gothic 1+2 and 3 with mods, avoid Gothic 4 though. Risen is another good WRPG and so are the Diablo clones Titan Quest andTorchlight.
FPS: Crysis,The Orange Box (far superior to PS3 version),Left for Dead 1.
Action Adventure: Oblvion (bad game that becomes great with mods, if you dont know how to mod check the instructions on the download file or PM me), The Ball, Just Cause 2
Horror: Amnesia and Penumbra series, both made by the same dev
Adventure: Sam and Max series (General Showzer will approve of this)
MMORPG: Guild Wars has no monthly fees (I know it is a CORPG before anyone corrects me) and one of my favorite mmobloggers recommended RIFT for people who arent tired of the Themepark formula yet, since you havent played any MMOs this should not feel stangant.
Casual: Peggle, Bejeweled, Plants vs Zombies,Puzzle Quest
Platformers: Super Meat Boy and Mirrors Edge(if you haven't bought it already), beware of trial and error gameplay though for both
Strategy: Sid Meier's Civilization 5 is the latest and most accessible and well presented iteration in one of the best strategy games of all time, Swords and Soldiers is a fun simple and addicting 2d strategy game.
Racing: Blur (which is similar to Mario Kart and Crash Team Racing)
FPS means Frames Per Second btw most console games are locked at 30 with some being at 60
Antialiasing is a method used for fooling the eye to make jagged objects look smoother than they really are. It doesn't actually smooth edges but rather make them look smooth.
Here is a pic explaining, the one on the left does not have anti aliasing while the one on the right has.
True and this is where PS3 comes in.. guess its truly is complete now.. with PS3 and PC ( Steam ) you just cant go wrongfinalstar2007
But still no Lost Odyssey, Blue Ocean, Tales of Vesperia, and other Namco JRPGs for you :P

[QUOTE="dc337"] Yes because putting a disc in the console is such a tremendous effort.
Apparently so is plugging an HDMI cable from the PC to a TV with the way so many console gamers go "I prefer playing games on my 60" TV!"
The PC is a second-rate console in the living room. No local multiplayer, no buying movies and games with the same account, and it also gets skipped on some major exclusives like Red Dead Redemption and the EA Sports series.
Unlike Xbox 360 and Wii, my gaming laptop includes Blu-Ray drive.[QUOTE="XaosII"]

pc does not work well with many tvs
Emmm, multimedia laptops or desktop PCs are use in business presentations i.e. projector or large flat panel TVs. Marketing department and Microsoft PowerPoint says Hi.Well, most of the games on steam are 6+ GB. Most of the games on PSN are under 1 GB. Naturally, it would take longer to download a full fledged game.
But yes, Steam is quite nice. Personally, i think one of the best features of steam is never needing a disc to put it. Its nice to just press one button and launch a game.

your connection speed..it must suck

Consoles get skipped on some major exclusives too....like WOW, the Witcher, STALKER. Seems consoles are a second rate gaming machine.

Dcc337 is trying to state his opinion that PC is below a console in the living room. He's verbage needs a bit of work as he is just throwing out information without much backing... What if I said, Pc allows for blue ray playing while 2 other consoles don't, has many exclusives that consoles don't get, has games with local multiplayer and can buy movies and games with a simple click thus making me feel consoles are second rate? It would be a better avenue then just stating information as if its truth. I will retract it back if you can prove what I just said is false dc337.
either way... you cannot prove nor can I anything about second rate. No local multiplayer is a fallacy. Pc does have many local multiplayer games just not on the level of a console. Stating No though implies 0 which is false. Stating pc gets skipped on games really goes no where just like saying console get skipped on games. The no buying games on same account goes no where either.. Yes.. console players get that first convenience of not having to enter account information twice but at the same time, PC members can set things to auto select and just click and go. In the end, stating second rate is a wrong avenue to depict with the scenario you brought up.
true but steam downloads so much faster than psn. you can download most full games in a few hours if you connection is decent.Well, most of the games on steam are 6+ GB. Most of the games on PSN are under 1 GB. Naturally, it would take longer to download a full fledged game.

Yes because putting a disc in the console is such a tremendous effort. and then wait for the 90s tech to finally load up. HDDS are better in every single way. optical media is only good for cheap transportation of data. Plus game cases do nothing but waste a tone of space.[QUOTE="haberman13"]
Steam is legendary. It's like having all of your console games preloaded and ready to start on demand without disk swaps.
Just one of the many reason to convert to PC gaming.
