Yeah and it is a lot of jumping in them aswell, does that make them platformer?

No, because in a platformer, your typically jumping from one "platform" to the other, hence the name platformer. Jumping over obsticales periodically is different. "Action" is an extremely broad category. Platformer, not so much and a shooter is one of the last things to fall under that category.
