Is that seriously the debate? Because I am interested in only 1 game on a particular system, all other games on that system are null and void to the topic? People keep asking where the games are, ffs you're on a video game website. Try clicking one of the little system buttons near the top of the page and it leads to information. wow.

yes...but not like it used to. I have been a pc gamer since the 80s and ever since the stupid xbox360 came out pc has been getting the shaft. Devs went in hoards to dev for the 360. and half of them died, the other half are making multiplats. M$ buying up and closing down all their pc devs like Aces, Ensemble, Fasa, etc.. was a really bad move. Devs for creative titles like titan quest, and Hellgate london...dead.
We get 2 exclusives on PC that are big titles this year... Shogun total war and Homm6 , thats just about it. sure there are indie games, but they are on every platform.
PC used to get Space sims, RTS , Turn based strategy games, and Dungeons and Dragons...
Speaking of which, I love AD&D, where is our 4th edition AD&D PC epic? Where is Baldur's gate 3, Planescape Torment 2, icewind Dale 3, Neverwinter Nights 3 (not that stupid MMo they are making), Pools of raidance/ eye of beholder sequals? AD&D has been a staple PC Wrpg every gen,.. but this one. What happened? Do devs not care anymore. IT PISSES ME OFF! I Want some AD&D on PC damn-it! Hell I would even settle for a new Might and magic, wizardry or ultma game... never gonna happen with this hand-holding console centric gen.
Also where is my Space sims, X-wing vs tie fighter, freelancer / Elite type games? no -where , instead enter generic shooter number 4235 - Space Marine (of all names) and Counter strike game number 3201...... I can't stand all the military multiplayer focus on pc... I miss the days of yore.. PC has some great indie titles especially for rpgs. Eschalon, avernum, and even minecraft to an extent.

Come on now... PC is one platform , exactly same platform as it was 20 years ago.
There are no gens for it technically. For that and only that it has x100 more exclusives and titles than any console ever will.
In fact one platform , PC , competes straight with 10-15 different platforms. And still can compete!! Its insane seriously , except if you gather all 15 vs 1.
PC is great , BUT PC dosen't ve any great games in the ranks of console games . PC had few exclusives games unfortunately all released for consoles .

What on earth are you talkign about???
Shogun Total War2 is on consoles now??? Starcraft2 is on consoles now????? ARMA2 is on consoles now?? Red Orchestra2 is on consoles now?? World Of Warcraft is on Consoles now?? Stalker 1 is on consoles now?? Terraria is on consoles now? Give me a break with the whole "PC HAS SOME EXCLUSIVES BUT THEY ALL RELEASED ON CONSOLES".
Do you even do any research before writing down such rubish?
Ps3 - Great for singleplayer 360 - Great multiplayer, with friends and as a social platform PC - Costs way to much more than consoles, especially considering it has no real exclusives anymore (Imho), and the only advantages are slightly higher definition and can run at higher specs. Not worth the fact that it costs about 2000% of the price to buy and maintain compared to consoles (IMO)Overlord93
No real exclusives?? Are you all blind or just ignorant?

Sure, but still the ones i care about are all on my xbox 360 (Withcer 2, Crysis 1-2, Metro, Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, Bioshock, Diablo 3 etc)
So, which ones are you refering to ?
Diablo 3 isn't confirmed for consoles, blizzard themselves said if they can't make it work like a native console game they are not going to pursue the project.

That's just the mass market, not the fault of consoles specifically. This. [begin rant!] D&D games are an incredible niche that dont translate well enough to game design logic, most of the classes are often broke and the pace of combat is fightfully slow.... that and they were done to death.... "D&D games are an incredible niche that don't translate well to game design logic"
"Space sims were an easy genre to make with low appeal"
How old are you? Maybe 15, tops?
Only someone so young could say things this ignorant. Virtually all modern video games are based on D&D and RPG game logic. Space shooters, like Freespace 2, were the most expensive to make, critically acclaimed, and best selling games in the years of their release. Dungeons & Dragons is weak as a brand due to mismanagement by WOTC, not due to the fact that people don't like D&D-style games. Most MMOs are fantasy/D&D ripoffs (like World of Warcraft) and these are by far the most popular games on the PC. I'm not sure why space shooters are less popular than they used to be. FPS games do incorporate many elements of the genre though.
Consoles and PC promote 2 entirely different styles of play.
Console gamers sit on a couch (or leap around like an idiot) with a multi-button controller in their living room, often with friends. PC gamers, especially desktop gamers, sit at a desk with a keyboard and mouse in an office or bedroom, almost always alone.
The other big divider is game type.
The keyboard and mouse control scheme works far better for various genres than analog stick controls. Most notably FPS, RTS, and MMO games. If you like these generes, you'll be happier with the PC.
There is some debate about FPS because the most popular FPS, Combat Evolved, is primarily an XBOX 360 shooter. This is mainly due to the better online community of XBOX Live. If you do a LOT of multiplayer online gaming, you'll probably prefer the 360, even with it's inferior controls.
To me, these are the big differences. Considering most people MUST own a PC for school or business, the cost difference is neglible (a gaming video card costs $150, add $100 for more memory/CPU and upgading any modern PC to decent gaming hardware is $250 at most). If you're still limping around on a Packard Bell from 2000, it's time to upgrade. MTBF on hard disks is 3 years.

Niche? D&D is the sole reason why video game role playing games exist in the first place, that is a indisputable fact of history. The very first video RPGs were representations of D&D, and so came Ultima & Wizardry which basically influenced and popularized the genre on all platforms.
I think the excluives are a matter of taste.
Technically the PC has the most highly rated exclusives than any of the consoles.
Unfortunately many console gamers think that if there isn't a behemoth corporaiton spending hudreds of millions on marketing, somehow those games aren't "as good".
Complete and utter BS.
There's also the issue that most multi-plats are simply better on the PC, and in the future multi-plats are what we're goig to see more and more of. Developers will not focus on a single platform anymore there's too much money at stake, specially as the cost of makign and marketing games continues to increase.
Sure, the consoles will spend on exclusives, but it will be only 1 or 2 franchises. Everything else will run on PC, PS4, Nextbox, etc.
Kinthalis
Most games with huge marketing budgets are noticeably lacking games, since they've spent their wad on commercials instead of development.
The problem with PC games, particularly exclusives, is that they are made by studios with less resources and it shows in the games when the animations, physics, combat, and everything else just feels rigid and underdeveloped.
I was messing around with The Witcher 2, and I can't see what is supposed to be so great about it. The voice acting is much better than a typical PC game. I will give it that.

23 actually. like ive already said it doesnt matter if "it started rpgs" doesnt make it the more suitable method. hence why it has practically died off. D&D doesnt translate into a video game as well as tailored systems... its that simple, has nothing to do with ignorance of past events.... since you know, we are talking about NOW. bare in mind I'm not talking about the concepts of D&D I'm talking about the direct implementation of D&D.... I dont care what started "RPGs" as you put it, Im merely pointing out that its not as appealing as modern approaches to RPGs (Though Bioware sticks closely to it.). WoW rips off D&D? well I suppose at some level... doesnt play like a D&D game though does it? .... because a D&D stype MMO was and HAS sucked. "space sims" - mainly consisted of wide open spaces with filler objects thrown in between, space shooters were a dime a dozen in the windws 95 days ....And now they dont exist? why because they thrived in a time line where gaming in general was a niche.... they havnt survived the test of time.Birdy09
What does that have to do with anything, yeah they do exist, thanks to D&D. And it seems to me like you never played Temple of Elemental Evil, which is the best translation of the D&D experience on the PC, and one of the best turn based rpgs i've ever experienced.
I hope to God you're not thinking about the Infinity Engine games wen you're talking about D&D not translating well. That would be a very bad view to base your opinion on.
PC used to get Space sims, RTS , Turn based strategy games, and Dungeons and Dragons...Midnightshade29That part really confused me.
One thing no one ever seems to mention with the PC is the ability to store your games library and play at the click of a mouse, I have 29 games installed on my hard drive and none of them need a disk to run after installation and as a side note, 10 of them are PC exclusive.

Same here. Don't know what the hell people are talking about in threads like this one. I have over 30 games installed on my PC, half of them exclusive; the other half I would probably not even consider playing on console (Oblivion, Metro 2033, Risen, Crysis for instance). And in my opinion, a good RTS like Supreme Commander or Shogun2 is worth 6 or 7 standard "action" games, since the replayability is astounding. Oh, and mods :D
I like consoles.. PCs are so cumbersome, big tower, keyboard, mouse, speakers, and monitor had to be in one place on a desk with wires all over in the back... Oh wait!! Consoles are the same way, with even way bigger screen, but some how they don't really feel cumbersome like that.. ?!?!Dogswithguns
