Macs can run the same software as Pcs can with bootcamp right? Except for games right? Games are for consoles, not computers right?  Why the heck would you buy a PC just for a PC only game right? Hmmm. So if everyone realized you can get everything you like on you PCs except the games on a Mac, wouldn't everyone's next computer be a Mac? So Pcs could eventually be obsolete right?

Can Bootcamp run all the software a PC can, I actually don't know.

The future is leaning towards having a device that does everything -- so the PC already won really, and that's why people never count it in the wars.

I sure hope macs can run the same software as macs.

Also, most PC gamers build their own pcs. Think about it. Its a hobby.

But then why would I buy a MAC when I can buy a personalised sentimental machine that I know I built and what's in it and that can run anything I want it to? If something is wrong with say your MAC webcam, YOUR WHOLE MAC NEEDS TO GO BACK TO THE SHOP; if your PC's webcam is down then just get a new one. Same with monitor.

Also PCs are customised. It makes the person who owns their PC feel more at home than confined to a mass produced silver thing.

If PC's are on the way out I wonder why then all the console manufacturers are trying to turn their gaming consoles, those plug-n-play machines of fun, into PC's by adding updates, downloadable content, harddisk installs and other PC-like features?

Macs are nothing else but a diffrent brand of PCs, the hardware is exactly the same as in other PCs.

And they won't replace other PC brand, they have less market share than statistical margin of error.

Why do you assume that everyone who buys PC secretly wants a Mac instead? That doesn't make much sense

Haha. wups. I'm fixing that.

And to the person that said macs are extremely overpriced and to the person that said not really, yes, not really. The least expensive mac out is 500 dollars, the mac mini, offering between 1.5 and 2.1 ghz of processor speed. 1.5 gb of ram, duo core processors. Great graphics. That's not bad as a Pc for the same price is usually around 1.5 to 1.7 ghz 1 gb of ram unless I'm wrong.

But you have to remember, if it happened, all the money going to fixing your PC, the time wasted trying to find a file, hair loss, etc.

$350 isn't "insanely overpriced"--and the MBP you linked me to is the older model. You definitely have to pay premium for it, but it's worth it for some.

A lot of good laptops cost the same as Macbooks to be honest, Thinkpads for example are priced on similiar level and yet millions of people pick THinkpads over Macbooks. Price isn't the only reason why some people prefer PCs over Macs and vice versa

The PC was more powerful in every single catigory outside of processor ok well lets go with two laptops with nearly identical specs.

Brand new macbook

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834100043

$2,000

brand new PC

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220395

$1,250

For $750 less you get a PC notebook that preforms as well or better than the new Macbook

Actually I would say it's the other way around. Many major PC selling stores such as bestbuy don't even sell MACs. The only reason macs are still around is because they're used primarily within schools. If you ask me they're also overpriced and they arn't as customizable as PCs.

It won't be long until you can play all the same games on a mac. They are already selling some very decent games for mac like Call of duty 4. I also can't see how not understanding some of you are. It's like you've been brainwashed your whole life to think Pcs are the way to go. So what If they can be customized. You can do whatever you like to try to cover up the truth that it's a PC. Current Macs get it right the first time and don't need a lot of customization.

This. The main consumers of MACs, especially iMACs are design schools and universities.

That's easy. The MacBook Pro has countless additions that make it superior to nearly every laptop around. Hardware isn't everything when it comes to laptops. Laptops are carried around and taken to different places--they need to be durable.

The MacBook Pro has a slick aluminum finish that makes it durable, it has bluetooth in it, it has a sophisticated trackpad that allows for gesture based computing, it has a keyboard that lights by itself based on the lighting in your environment, and it has a special power adapter which magnetically attaches to your computer in order to prevent damage from tripping on it.

Is that worth $700? Maybe, maybe not. But I do know that I trust the Apple brand far more than Asus.

I would also like to add that the video card in that Asus is complete and utter garbage. Enjoy it.

If you don't care about customization/gaming you might as well get the cheapest computer you can find, and that would be a PC. Newer games require you to upgrade your computer and this is where MACs fall behind. A PC can do everything MACs can, however PCs can be purchased for half the price with the same performance. If I was the average consumer I would be purchasing a PC, your just paying extra for the brand name rather than what's inside..

So, because Asus makes good motherboards, they make good laptops? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I know the Apple video card is garbage, but nobody plays games on Macs. But with a garbage video card in that mediocre Asus laptop, you listed, mostly all games will be played in medium/low settings. What gives the PC the advantage, if it can't play video games properly?

Answer that and you win.

Actually, yes, I do remember reading something about them manufacturing Macbooks. Quanta manufactures MacBook Pros.

EDIT: but that's really irrelavent, since the process of design is far more important than manufacture. A good analogy would be the Pyramids of Giza. The Egyptians designed them, but slaves built them: does that make the slaves the creators of the pyramids? No.

Yes except for the fact that console ARE COMPUTERS, just highly modified versions for gaming only, so no, I don't agree with you, but I'm not saying I dont like Macs, I just don''t think you thought this throuhg thouroughly. Plus, you can do everything on pcs with and they have better graphics and framerates than the consoles.

I'm not really insulting PCs or anything. I game on my high-end PC from time to time. I just think that as far as laptops go, Macs are the best--and the price is generally higher than your average Windows-based laptop, but like I previously said, it's worth it.

If Macs are so great and everyone who has them raves about the OS so much, why would they want to put the "crappy" windows OS on?

The extra features are actually pretty useless to an average labtop user, unless they plan on throwing their labtops out of cars. I would rather take the more powerful labtop over the weaker more expense MAC labtop.

Macs can run the same software as macs can with bootcamp right? Except for games right? Games are for consoles, not computers right?  Why the heck would you buy a PC just for a PC only game right? Hmmm. So if everyone realized you can get everything you like on you PCs except the games on a Mac, wouldn't everyone's next computer be a Mac? So Pcs could eventually be obsolete right?

Can Bootcamp run all the software a PC can, I actually don't know.

PlayaInDaHood

"Macs can run the same software as macs can with bootcamp right?"

I sure hope macs can run the same software as macs.

Also, most PC gamers build their own pcs. Think about it. Its a hobby.

"Games are for consoles"

Games started out on PCs junior.

Haha.

This reply is wrong on so many levels I don't know where to start. 1.5 ghz is a slow processor for today;'s standards. and as far as pcs for the same price having between 1.l5 to 1.7 ghz, no, just no. Your making things up. Nothing in the PC world is absolute. My PC cost 600 and I have quad core phenom at 2.4hgz, 3 gigs of ram, vista 32x, 9800GTX, and some other cool stuff.

[QUOTE="PlayaInDaHood"]It won't be long until you can play all the same games on a mac. They are already selling some very decent games for mac like Call of duty 4. I also can't see how not understanding some of you are. It's like you've been brainwashed your whole life to think Pcs are the way to go. So what If they can be customized. You can do whatever you like to try to cover up the truth that it's a PC. Current Macs get it right the first time and don't need a lot of customization.zaku101

Just because I'm not going to play games on the computer doesn't mean i want slow video playback, slower loading webpages, programs closing cause the computer can't handle the program as it loads a large file or something. Do some research if you think that a fast processor is just for gaming.

Sweeping generalizations FTL.

Just because Apple gives you the opinions do use Windows (in addition to OSX, mind you), doesn't mean everyone utilizes the feature.

[QUOTE="Bentham"][QUOTE="Guybrush_3"]

Then explain why you can get a nearly ideantical (possibly better) PC laptop for $750 less then the new Macbook Pro?

Guybrush_3

Enjoy it.

Then you obviously don't know anything about the quality of asus's hardware.

Hey guys with gaming rigs, what do you think of Asus's motherboards?

Oh yeah 9650GT>9600GT The macbooks card is even more garbage enjoy it.

ASUS? One of the better hardware manufacturers out there, especially for motherboards.

Pretty useless, according to whom?

That's perfectly understandable. I go to college, and I bring my laptop everywhere, I need it to be durable. I don't really care about the .50 GHz or the extra 2GB of RAM. The MacBook Pro is an incredibly powerful laptop configuration. People have different needs when it comes to computers. You want power, and I want power+durability/dependability.

Who could be bothered typing Dell... or Alienware? PC is just two letters.

Mind, if you were typing Alienware, you'd probably be getting someone else to type it for you.

The overall goal of my post which you missed was that you could get a faster PC cheaper than a MAC. If you got a PC at the same price as a MAC it would at least be 2x stronger. Also a P4 at 3Ghz is more than enough for the average user, it maybe a few years old it's still able to run crysis. A P4 isn't even a standered anymore in the cheap PCs which all use Dual cores.

[QUOTE="AdrianWerner"][QUOTE="Bentham"]. But I do know that I trust the Apple brand far more than Asus.Bentham

You do know that Macbook are manufactured by Asus, right? :)

No.

design of Macbooks isn't anything special. THey use the same hardware every other PC does. Asus makes some of the most reliable laptops on the market and Macbooks, including MB Pros aren't better than Asus laptops in this area
