[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"]I liked the story in both games. Halo 2 just had bad missions and a cliffhanger(no body likes those). If Halo 3 has the great story telling with the great missions. Then i will love this game more than i allready do(yes on beta alone i love this game)Viviath
no body likes them unless they are done properly (GoW2 anyone?)
You're always on God of War 2 lol.
I love that game and the story. However, the nature of the setting made it easier for the devs to come up with one. The mythology is already there; just colour in the white bits.
But nobody likes what? I see that Peter Jackson, Guillermo Del Toro and (weirdly enough) Julia Roberts all adore Halo.

and if you have to read a novel to understand what the hell is going on in a game....then the developers should do a better job story telling...
The books only flesh out other aspects of the Halo universe. Same with the comics. The book's not only fleshed out the story but they explain how master chief came to become masterchief how he got back to earth from halo 1 (a major story point) the books just give hardcore fans like me a deeper intrest into the story and I get a lil peeved when people say it's "generic" like the TC who obviously hasnt played or read any of the story elements.

Everything you just explained is called fleshing out the story. The Fall of Reach, Ghosts of Onyx, it's all elaborating what's going on in the Halo universe, but really isn't necessary to understand the major story arc.
And no, you still don't need the books to realize Halo is not generic. The game's story itself is not generic.

Or read every single chapter in the entire Harry Potter series.
Good cliffhangers are fantastic. Bad ones majorly suck.
Halo 2 didn't even have a cliffhanger. It was like it just abruptly stopped.
[QUOTE="-Beowulf"]I buy Halo soley for the Single Player experience.
The incredible multiplayer is just a great bonus for me, and being very good at it doesn't hurt :D
GarchomPro
I SERIOUSLY LOL'D
I dare you to kill somebody in team hardcore by just "holding the shoot button", lol, go play your killzone

actually i dont mind those. but in a movie or a game i dont think a cliff hanger is great.Thats what Halo 2 was, i didnt even know that was gonna be the end. i dont mind them on a TV show. I do mind them in movies and videogames. They stink. I cant think of 1 movie or game with a good cliffhanger. Halo 2s cliff hanger was the most annoying. I didnt even know it was going to end right there.[QUOTE="kryloc"][QUOTE="jg4xchamp"][QUOTE="Viviath"][QUOTE="jg4xchamp"]I liked the story in both games. Are you actaully buying Halo 3 to play the single player campaign?? I actually never even started this "Fight" so I have no intentions on finishing it....
I never liked Halo's story (In fact I think its so incredibly generic I cant believe some of the praise it gets)....Me and everybody else I know that are buying it are just buying it to play online....I have Halo 2 for xbox and I havnt touched campaign...havnt even started one....online is pretty much the only thing that matters...
So are you getting it to play online? Play single player?? Or both......
Im getting it for online only and once again...im not gonna touch single player...

You call the story generic yet you havnt even played it?...
Anyway yes I will definatly play the campaign, many times.
[You probably would have killed yourself if you followed the Sopranos series...._MURS_
I did follow that series and god was i ticked. For all the people who wanna say "its art" "the director wants the viewers to come up with there own ending" or the my favorite " there is a true ending u just have to think about it"
I say F that. To me the director and the writers woosed out of making a true ending. Im sorry but IMO if you cant make a complete ending u just woosed out and didnt finish the job.

my guess is he didnt want to really upset a group by choosing an ending....because one ending would have aggravated one half of the viewers.....and another would have aggravated the other half of the viewers
By doing what he did he just lets both of those halfs make up what they want to believe....but really he just pissed off both of them...

and that to me is pathetic. Part of making a great series, movie, game, etc is finishing the job. Sure some have bad ending some have great endings. But to not even have an ending is just a cop out IMO.[QUOTE="_MURS_"][QUOTE="jg4xchamp"][QUOTE="_MURS_"][You probably would have killed yourself if you followed the Sopranos series....jg4xchamp

I mean, I can ask even the most hardcore of Halo fans if they remembered the part where The Prophet of Truth mentioned his comrade The Prophet of Mercy was alive and kicking in one of Halo 2's levels (at that point Master Chief is standing right next to the dead Mercy guy), and then the Flood leader called Gravemind cuts into the speakers and tells the Covenant he is dead. That's character development right there.
FrozenLiquid
You mean the part where Truth is obviously, consciously lying because admitting the death of a prophet at the hands of the "demon" would be an even bigger morale blow than losing the first Halo? I saw it was quite obvious.
Are you nuts? You've never played through the campaign, not even on co-op?
4 player online co-op campaign mean anything to you? Agh, why am I even replying to this. Yes, I am going to finish the fight... multiple times if it's as good as Halo CE's campaign, which I played through more times than I can remember. Halo 2... not so much. I think I only beat it once as a matter of fact. What a disappointment that was but I have faith in Bungie that they'll get it right this time. Also, you're not even seeing the best graphics and effects in the game if you only play multiplayer. But don't get me wrong, I'll be playing LOTS of multiplayer as well, especially after I saw how fun the Beta was.

Well since I recently moved to the boondocks, I have no broadband, so yes, I am going to finsih the fight. Which I would have done regardless, as I liked both Halo 1 and 2, just not as much as I liked the Mp portions of them. I must admit, I do NOT like the Halo 2 Online multi player that much. I hate that it does not offer the ability to search for a game type, join the lobbym, and play. The way they structured the online for Halo 2 was idiotic at best. Sure it was cool to create a party, and keep playing with those guys, but it could have been SO MUCH BETTER had they given the ability to search for the games you want to play. I hope they fix this with Halo 3.
Regardless I am more looking forward to 4 player co-op! Woot! I loved on-line co-op in Gears, I played that more than online multi. 4 player online co-op is going to be so rad.
