Seems people forget about this. When the price was announced people were excited it was 249. Ever since then seems like the vita is hated on for having a high price. What caused the change in attitude?

The lack of good games. For hadware it is a good price, but not if there isn't anything fun to play on it.

If it launched at the same price as the PSP I would have been happier.

There is a 3G/Wifi Vita bundled with a 8 GB memory card (and apparently a free game if you sign up for the 3G thing) for 270, and they have lots of bundles incoming.

I'm going to try and get one this Christmas.

That's because at the time the 3DS was in the same price ball-park and we didn't know about the proprietary memory cards sold seperately. 3DS price drop + the memory card thing turned a LOT of people off.

Shame, its great hardware, I was recently able to get one bundled with 2 games and a memory card at a heavily reduced price, the handheld, abilities, and software I've played so far has all been amazing for a handheld. Sony seems to be TRYING to make stupid decisions with it advertisingwise.

but then the 3DS got a huge price-cut and... The thing is that the 3DS at $250 was literally a rip-off so people where happy that for the same price the Vita offered much more. Nintendo tried to steal from you with no shame but it didn't work like they planned.

The 3DS was also $250, and the Vita just looked like incredible value next to it. Then Nintendo undercut Sony by dropping the price on the 3DS drastically.charizard1605
