People sure like to scrutinize Wii U and talk about these new consoles

But where is the talk from the companies? Come on Microsoft and Sony. Show us what you have. Considering these consoles are going to blow Wii U out of the water and they are the ones consumers should be buying they aren't doing anything to prove it.

Here is a reality check for anyone saying absolutely every human being in the world will stop buying Wii U when the others come out. You certainly like to create drama around this. But tell me. How many of you will be there if these so-called modern day powerful systems show up? You Mr. forum poster can talk about this but what you fail to realize is you are but one single person. You cannot propel the consoles to record breaking sales heights. PS3 was cutting edge tech for it's time. Far more cutting edge then any hardware Sony have done. But how many bought it eh?

Talk about nobody caring about Wii U all you want. The reality will come to pass when they show up. I'm going to bet there won't be that many buying into new super powerful hardware. Especially when we are in a financial crisis. And if there aren't enough of you this will end exactly like Vita. Your systems will sit there gathering dust.

It isn't up to you Mr. forum poster. It is up to the people who stand with you. How many will be standing with you if you get your wish for a powerful system? Considering the powerful ones are usually behind the weaker ones for a combination of reasons I'm not convinced as many will be uniting with you as you think. If you want that power, expect to pay for it.

Usually a system is announced an E3 and launched ~1.5 years after that.

At the same time I can't see they give Wii U 2 holidays by itself. It's possible that MS will use the VGA's as a hype platform for teasing its new console.

I get tired of sayin it but here goes again, the reason sony/microsoft havent shown anythin is because they are both runnin scared of each other and no one wants to blink first.

The moment one of them shows somethin the other will jump all over it and try to top it giving them a perceived advantage and neither side wants this so its a stalemate situation.

Hats off to nintendo for not bothering with that fight and doin their own thing, im not personally interested in the wiiu but i admire them for not gettin caught up in a stupid battle with the other 2 nonetheless.

I am very anxious though to see what ps4/720 have to show, im leaning towards the ps4 but who knows, that could all change in an instant.

Fact is Blops 2 has the worst frame rate of the 3 consoles... on wii u and looks the same as 360. Fact is NG3 looks worse on U than PS3/360. Fact also is Uncharted 3 destroys all Wii U games :P

I really dont see how anyone can defend this mess of a console. The CPU is an extreme bottleneck, its has to waste power streaming to gamepad... what a mess.

Sony launched something one year ago... something so small i can fit in my pocket... and its almost as powerful as PS3/360/WiiU... yes the Vita. So just imagine what PS4 will be OOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo......ooooooooooOOOOOOOOOO it will be like comparing 3DS graphics to Vita lol

PS3's 2013 library seems to be its best one yet. Sony doesn't want to talk of next gen until they're completely finished with this gen.

Dunno why Nintendo is rushing tbh. Most of the games on the Wii U could've been done on the Wii with marginal differences.

1) PS3 PROMISED cutting edge tech which would be on another level VS competition. The fact was PS3 was ON PAR with X360 and to make it even worse , at first 2 years most of multis were better on x360. If you add the skyrocket price and not so many great exclusives the first year or 2... Epic fail.

2) Did you like that the first on console race didnt have any major games ( except like 3-4 worth mention ) the last 2 years or a bit less ?

3) Did you like that the first on console race this gen DIED FIRST ALSO.. i mean this happened for the first time in console history since Gen 1!!

4) Did you liek the fact that 75 to 85% of gamers were gaming WAY MORE on X360/Ps3 or PC than Wii , specially the last 2 years ?

5) Did you like the fact that Wii was missing MAJOR multis because of hardware limitations ?!! Do you think Wii U wont end up like this in 2-3 years?

6) Dont you think Wii U is pretty expensive for its hardware capabilities for almost 2013 product if we add the fact that you will spend another 50-60 at least for external HDD sooner or later?

7) Do you play SALES or GAMES ? Thnx.. Wii dead already --- X360-PS3 keep goin . Better value in the long run as far as quantity of quality titles and overall support goes ? Go figure

If anything, Microsoft and Sony's losses are making them considerably late. Sony especially. Its debateable if they will even launch next year. They have already said they will be last again.

I don't doubt the PS4/NexBox is going to be more powerful than the Wii U because, well, it's both are probably coming out about a year later...should they should be stronger. But how much stronger is yet to be known. So the "blow it out of the water" is premature. You should just wait and see. The Wii U is already more powerful than the PS3 and 360. Just wait.

The main reason why Uncharted looks so good is that it was developed by people that know the ps3's architecture from inside and out. Compare that to all the multiplats on the ps3 that looks worse than the 360 version.

So I'm told. I was also told PS3 would blow away 360 and that never happened. I was told Wii was 2 or 3 times more powerful then last gen and it very rarely approached Xbox 1 levels. I trust my own eyes, not what the hype machine spews out.

Really? Mario World looked better then anything on NES. Mario 64 was miles beyond anything a SNES could do. Tekken Tag Tournament was better then anything on PS1. Kameo, PGR3 were better then anything on Xbox. Only Wii and WiiU have had no noticable leap over last gen machines, in my experience of console launches.

Decree it all you like, it didn't happen with Wii, and may not with WiiU either.

You call it ignorance, I call it keeping my hopes down after the Wii disappointed me, and judging the new console on what it ACTUALLY DOES rather then a bunch of hype, lies and prophecies :)

Are you looking at Rayman Origins/Legends? Well that's more of subjective taste in artstyle; detailed handrawn art vs minimalist polygon graphics. I like both styles. Rayman is stunning to look at, but in gameplay it doesn't come close to the clarity that of NSMB U, it's just too cluttered with detail imo.

But beyond that, what do you imagine a 2D Mario game would look like in say a high end PC environment?

It will be exactly the same visually but only higher resolution.... 2D Mario is not held back by hardware in any way, it will always look like this except a potential change in artstyle.

Compare stuff like Mario Galaxy, Sonic Colors, Monster Hunter tri and The Last Story to the crap that was out at the wii's launch and there is a pretty big improvement

Because they rushed it, it had the worst hardware failure rate out of any console in existance.

Also there is no way the software is gonna be ready. Developers need time and there have been no rumors of developer x or y working on a game for the next gen xbox or ps3. We would have heard SOMETHING by now but there hasn't been anything really.

Especially if these new consoles are so much more powerful than the current ones like we keep hearing I don't think there is any chance either make it to next year.

Anyway I been trying to look for this for days.This is from a dev talking about the WiiU's power with the use of the gamepad on neogaf

Well, for the multipliers, from my very first message, i said it was closer to 2x than 5x. And one thing than i'm happy to see a lot people remember, is that i always included in this multiplier (flawed, we know it, but everyone is using those kind of measurement) the Gamepad screen. So even at launch, with some games, we're already witnessing, at the very least, a 1,5x xbox360 level of performances, with a xbox360ish content on the TV + 480p different 3D content on the gamepad, on certain sequences. Very close, and we'll reach the 2/2,5x figure i said back in February, it's a sure thing. It's the same for the multipliers pertaining to components, i said it was oscillating, depending on the hardware piece, between 2x and 4x i think. The 4X + all the back & forth discussions in the WUST 2 made that people understood well that the 4x was for the memory (4x 512mo). About the GPU, i haven't participated in your heated debates because i haven't GFLOP or ROP or other parameters numbers. Just that from what i've heard, it's relatively safe to assume that the GPU is capable of at least, around 2x what the Xbox360 GPU can do. Now does this 2x come from 2x more pure "raw power", or let's say 1,2x more power + 0,8x "faked" by the more modern architecture, features and effects, that aren't handled by Xbox360 and PS3 GPU's, i don't know.

For all these infos & guesses (for the GPU power in this case), i was reasonable and nothing was proven wrong, i stand proudly in my shoes on the contrary when i see for example what happened with Miiverse. However, i must say that i was pretty "Public Relationized" by all those infos around E3 2011 praising the system for its accessibility, its easiness, how it's quick to port current gen HD titles on it, etc. It seems it's not the case, and Wii U requires quite an amount of work and optimization of your development to take advantage of its characteristics.

I agree with you, but there are obviously going to be games released for the WiiU eventually that will beat games like uncharted even though the console won't be a giant leap in terms of hardware.It's just devs have to learn how to use the rather new hardware in the console well.
