Seriously I have heard it all when it comes to the subject of disc swapping.I could go on and on about the reasons people claim to hate the idea of disc swapping but then I ask myself, what is the real problem with it? RE4 was recieved GOTY and it was on 2 discs I didn't have a problem. I never had a problem switching discs during the PS1 days playing those amazing RPG's.

For all of those people who complain about disc swapping shame on you. I mean seriously do you guys only own 1 freaking game? That is the only way to completly avoid disc swapping. I've played 5 different games today which means I had to switch discs multiple times. Did it bother me? Heck no. The only way I can understand someone claiming to hate disc swapping is if they only own one game. If you own more then one game then quit crying over it. Yes Blu-Ray has its benifits over DVD9 as it is larger but to complain about disc swapping is just childish since everyone does it on every platform by switching games.

I personally LOVE disc swapping. It makes me feel like the games is sometype of DVD collection or Book Series if you know what I mean :)

It makes the games feel longer and epic.

Yeah I'm weird. :P

i know you are going to get mad at me, but come on, what a stupid post. people don't like disk swapping because they only have one game and they are poor? you have to be kidding me.

look, I don't mind disk swapping, but i'll have to admit, if I had a choice, I rather have the game in one disk.

Shame on them?? You're the one assuming they're poor for some odd reason.

I have no problems with disc swapping, but if I don't have to do it, it's a bonus.

That's different. You're intentionally interrupting your game to play another.

Having to swap discs while you're in the middle of a game to continue playing it is annoying.

Don't tell me that you would rather swap discs than not. If you had the choice of having an entire game on one disc or four, could you honestly tell me that you would take the four disc version?

what about games like GTA and elder scrolls disc swapping is a horrible idea for free roam/wold games. for linear games it's fine but do you want to change the disc everytime you go to a different part of liberty city

I'm intentionally interupting my game? Actually you know sometimes I like to play different games. I don't put a game into my console and leave it there until its finished. A 4 disc game to me is no different then a one disc game. You aren't changing the disc while playing the game anyways. There is always a break in the action or to use an analogy it would be like coming to the conclusion of a chapter before moving to the next disc. Like I said its not really an inconvienance at all. And unless you only own one game you really can't be in a position to claim its annoying.

Also the fact that what happens if one of your CD's get scratched up to the point of no play or if you lose one of them. So how would you finish the game now? There's a lot of gamers out there who throw their games around and leave them in the open so having multiple disc games are a kind of thing of the past.

And if you scratch a single disc game the game is ruined forever. That's such a poor exuse. All my games are in perfect working order. Saying that you can scratch one of the multiple discs is like saying some fool is going to throw a Wiimote through a tv or a window.

I see how this is related to multidisc games. Developers, manufacturers, retailers don't want multidisc games as it costs them more to make.

The people who complain about disk swapping are pretty much justthe 12 year olds who never experienced the glory that was the PS1. One of my favourite PS1 games was Legend of Dragoon, which was a 4 disc monstrosity. People seem to think that its going to be games like Oblivion on 2+ disks, meaning you have to get up and swap disks every 5 minutes. Its not, they're going to be linear games (like RE4 as Blackbond mentioned) where once you complete a section of game you never revisit it, so once you are half way through the game you just throw in the 2nd disk and don't have to touch it again.

That is a very valid reason and reasons that I do agree with. But what makes someone complain about the actual disc swapping to begin with? The only ones complaining if at all should be the devs, manufacturers or retailers. As a gamer how can it really bother you.

exactly games like GTA, elder scrols, and other free roam games are screwed because you'd have to change the disc everytime you wanted to go to another part of the game or they would have to decrease the size of the game

No they won't they'll just have to do a better job of developing. Oblivion only took up about half a DVD9, or at least thats what I've heard.

Last I checked The Elder Scrolls was on one disc. There has never been one instance of a multi disc game screwing over an actual game.

Yeah they are two different things but in the end you are still doing the same thing. Which in this case would be switching the disc.

Oblivion is a damn big game, there isn't much reason to make a game bigger (at least not an action-RPG or similar game)because you risk pulling a daggerfall.

You couldn't have said that in the first place? I'm assuming that's why he couldn't follow your logic.

And why exactly would owning only one game take away somebody's right to have an issue with disc swapping? They know what it is even if they have no games. Ever hear of renting?

Disk swapping is still an inconvenience no matter how you look at it. I would rather that all the next gen systems had a disc tray in them similar to my cd player in which I could put 5-6 discs in and not have to swap them. It's much easier. When I'm sitting my ass down on my couch eating a bag of chips, tearing it up on whichever game I might be playing, with a Coke on hand, I do not want to get up and have to swap the disks. It's just a hassle and an inconvenience. I'd prefer that everything I bought came with multiple trays and holders so I wouldn't have to get up. Sure you can call me lazy but I'm sure other people feel the same way.
