Played both. The first one was cool... but I could never get into it, for some reason or another.

SS2, though... that game's near the top of my list for my favorite games ever (x-com and Fallout will never be dethroned! :P) The atmosphere, the customization, the emotions generated by the enemies (anyone else got a chill when a zombie - who you know was once someone you knew is running at you, trying to maul you while screaming in agony "kill me!"?)... the robot doing the macarena, everything. It was not a perfect game, of course... but it was gorram close.

ha x-com. good times.

I am sad to admit that I never got around to picking up a copy of x-com and playing it. Any chance that it is abandonware?

im not too sure.  id expect it to be...

Abandonware has NO legal recognition whatsoever. And seriously, its incredibly easy to pirate PC games.

actually you have to play both to be in the list.  sorry.  it is still 10.  :(

Both System Shock games? I've played the first, but I can't say that I've completed it like I have the sequel. (Yes, I've went farther than the first level.) Is that enough? I'd go complete it, but a certain recently-released-but-hard-to-find PS2 game is sucking down all of my gaming time.

I cannot find this game.  I'm trying to, though.  Does that count?

SS1 has a FAR better storyline though, but yeah SS2 is probably in the top 5 best games of all time.
Taz720

I don't deny that... I just didn't enjoy it as much gameplaywise. It might've been a mixture of the interface and that I played it a long time after it came out (I think it was near the time SS2 came out. I played SS2 about a year and a half after it was out).

I am well aware of how easy it is to pirate PC games, especially when they are old and considered as abandonware whether it be legal or not.

I bought it along with Starcraft off amazon last week, starcraft wroks fine, but System Shock wont load on XP for some reason, evne when I change the compatibility.Meu2k7

For anyone having trouble Getting SS2 to Work on XP There are 2 causes for problems

1.  SS2 Wont Work on XP unless you get the latest official Patch

2.  Newer Nvidia/Ati Drivers also stop the game from working, there is a 3rd party fix for this out there somewere.

3. Some Dual-Core CPUs have issues with the game, Your out of luck with this one.
