Because they share so many games, I agree that its a little pointless to own a ps3 and a 360. However a Wii and PC complement either of those well.

Yup. I've stuck to that formula since the NES days.

Owning more than one system gives you acess to more games and that´s a good thing in my book.

xYourSweet6669x

yes but who has the time to play each great game on each system, PS3 or 360 alone has enough great games, if you have every system you need to get a life lol.

Well, I own all systems so I guess I need to get a life by your standards. Pretty much all my gaming takes place on the 360 though. But I simply enjoy games, and I make time and effort to play the best of them irrespective of the format. If you don't, then don't bother. Quite simple. But c'mon man, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to come to the conclusion that people own many systems....because they enjoy gaming. Life or no life.

I always own every system every generation and that will continue. I don't want to miss out on any game that can potentially be a great experience and I am also a video game collector.

You don't have enough time to play games, but you have enough time to make threads on GS? Interesting.

Pointless? Maybe. I admit it's a luxury most don't need. I like being able to play the best game on each console. I can go for months without playing one or the other. It doesn't really bother me or keep me up at night. One game per console every few months is fine by me. I only buy five to eight games a year total.

I find numerous reasons for owning more than one system, and they come in the form of a large portion of exclusives/multiplats. I don't get tons of time to play due to school and work, but I do get around to playing all my systems.

It's not pointless. If someone has the time and money for gaming on these many systems then it makes sense to cover all bases and assure yourself that you won't miss out on any exclusives. However I own a Wii and PS3 and my Wii get's little attention. I probably could have easily lived without it but what are you gonna do.

Owning all systems doesn't mean you have to play for 24 hours a day. Sometimes I don't game for weeks and I still own all systems because I want to be able to play anything I want when I want it. I can afford it, so I do it. Simple as that.

I only play one game at a time and for only six hours a week. I find this suits me well.

I play my 360 the most because I but multiplats for it.

I use my PS3 solely for the exclusives it has.

I play my Wii with my girlfriend and friends who come over.

PC has been in my life since the days of Doom.

How do I play all of these you ask? Depends on what game is out at the moment I supppose.

Because I like the exclusives that each offer. Just because it is not feasible for you it does not mean that it is not for others.

I have 3 kids. I really only play PC nowadays, my son plays 360/PS3 with his friends and my youngest plays alot of Wii as do the rest of us (ususally drunk on a saturday night). I hate missing out or thinking im missing out. The wife goes mad at the fact i buy all big name games but rarely play them unless they are on PC lol. My son does though so its not all bad.

Because I can? I work from home and am not a schoolboy, so I have more free time than others. Besides, who do you think you are to tell others to get a life? Not everybody here lives under the same situation as you do.

More like why own all of them early in the gen when it's expensive and there aren't many games. Later on picking it up and getting the best games for the system you missed out on makes sense.

because ps3 relies to much on j-dev for their heavy hitters and i'm just not into that enough for me to be happy with it as my only system.

This is the first generation that I've owned all the systems and I'll say there are more than enough high quality exclusives on all 3 systems for me to justify owning all the systems.

I understand your point. I don't begrudge anyone that does get all the systems, but this will be my last generation owning so many systems. I really don't have time to play all the games I'd even like to play as it is, and then I think of all the money spent on systems and how some of that money could be diverted to more games. But it's always hard, especially at the beginning of a generation. A system (outside of PC) has a dearth of games and it feels natural to try to get the heaviest of hitters on all systems. But in the middle of a generation, like now, there's simply too many great games out there.

Exactly. Its the same reason I usually have a considerable backlog, so that when I want to play a certain type of game, I'm sure to have it (FPS, sandbox, platformer, adventure, etc).

I got a Wii first and a PS3 second. If there is actually an HD console game that interests me (rare) I am able to obtain it for my PS3. It's like a precaution. I don't want to miss anything I'll regret (Rayman Origins, Batman Arkham series, and Beyond Good and Evil 2)

I own a Wii, a PS3, a DS and a mediocre gaming PC.

Currently i'm playing all of them, do i have the time? of course not, but that doesn't mean i should be playing every day at every time to enjoy all my games.

I mostly use my DS during travels, currently i'm using my PS3 for online gaming (SSFIV, BB:CS), my Wii for Other M and SSBB and PC for King's Bounty and SC2, now do i play them all the time? like i said nop, maybe a day i'm in the mood for some fighting games, maybe other day i'll play a little bit for Other M, etc, etc, etc.

In other words, more consoles = more options, doesn't necessary means that more consoles = more gaming = no life.

i wont hate on you cause i get what youre saying. i have wii, ps3, 360 and the only one i play is 360. the other 2 were complete impulse buys. they were fun for awhile, but eventually started collecting dust. the ps3 is a great machine, and i will play it more once GT5 comes out, but there is just not enough separating it from the 360 to justify owning it when you already own a 360.
