"I'll admit that Kinect has got some problems. As an input device it has some real problems. Without a thumb stick, navigation is a real problem. You haven't got any buttons, so ordering the player to do something can be somewhat of a problem."

Funny thing about this is he's basically saying that not having a controller is a problem. lol

some... SOME?! It has many, down to it's glaring red eye that just stares at me when I try to play a normal game. It's like its calling to me:

"Put down thy controller and wave thy arms like thy villiage fool. Now my apprentice, get up and Kinect! Ha, ha, ha, ha, haaaaaaaaaa!"

Non issue really.

No lemming remembers the faith they used to have in Kinect, it's just a fun 150$ peripheral you need to play Dance Central on your 360:P

Honestly, I've gotten accustomed to believing Molyneux means the opposite of everything he says, so this is some really high praise for the ol' Kinect. I wonder how much MS paid him to say all this. :P

What? Don't go and bring other threads that I've posted in into an argument that makes absolutely no sense lol. At least he is admitting that Kinect has some serious design flaws, like ummm MOVING YOUR PLAYER. But you clearly have no problem with that, so its fine.

crying that kinect has "some" problems is like complaining your flesh eating bacteria has "some" problems.

Wait,so Molyneux says Kinnect has problems.

Going by his past record, that means Kinnect is actually near faultless.

SRTtoZ

I don't know if he had a choice after Fable 3. Which he admitted to not being done when it was released. Overall I blame MS. Still had a great time with Fable 3 though.

The Journey can suck it, work on Fable 4 for a new Xbox launch title. PM shouldn't have any limitations on the next system. Unless Kinect is required. Die Kinect DIE in Fire!

I know everyone loves todogpile Molyneux, butin the Natal days he begged Microsoft to have a controller like the navigation controller or nunchuck... MS said no. Here's hoping they relent eventually. It would really open things up for Kinect as a viable platform for traditional games.

I've always believed that Kinect will never truly be able to do more than an on-rails experience as far as trying to please the core crowd who wants true control over their character. Unless some sort of controller or something was added I don't see it happening. Yes they can try to implement full freedom control for the player but I don't see it being sharp or a better option than the traditional controller set-up.

So as much as I think Peter is full of crap in this instance I have to agree with him. It's a bitter pill for MS to swallow considering how hard they have been pushing the "You are the controller" slogan. So in the future the slogan might be, "You are the controller....but get this too." lol

I'm not saying Kinect has no use because I think the sky is the limit as far as trying to implement hybrid set-ups with the traditional controller or for games like dance central and kinect sports. We're already seeing some hybrid set-ups with ME3 and Future Soldier. This is where Kinect has the possibility to shine. However as a solo act on the hardcore stage requiring full control over your character I see it falling on its face. Also just to be clear on-rails games can be good too but depending on the type of game or set-up it can get old really quick.

You got to applaud Sega with their upcoming Kinect game Rise of Nightmares and their attempt at avoiding an on-rails experience but it looks like a chore to play

I mean come on, I think we all know that. Kinect showed at E3 that it will probably be mainly for putting inefficient features in core games and on rail games/mini-games for the more casual players.

Which we all know but several people ignore, there is a limitation to what you can do with Kinect, and most games will be about the same, using motion in a gimmick kind of way. Even on games like driving games is a shore, because having your arms in front of your body for more than a few minutes is tiresome, the tech has many shortcoming which i am sure MS knew about but carry on,because they invested to much money already to cancel the product. Sales for Kinect had hugely drop, which make me believe that it will die probably a little further down the road.

PAL360
Which is why they are rather than making core games for Kinect, just implementing Kinect features into some hardcore games, but that can be dangerous as well, because it kinds of shutdown MS whole advertisement campaign about you are the controller,is not the same using Kinect as the only way to control everything on Mass Effect 3,than using voice recognition and using the sensor in limited ways. That is the real problem with Kinect, using hybrids can hurt the tech more than help it,because who want to pay $150 for a gimmick feature on Mass Effect 3,after the tech been sold to you as a unique controller free experience.

Kinect is the root of the problem, imo. I can't stand that MS forces developers to support it just so they can say, "hey look we have 50 kinect titles."

I don't see how Hybrid games are the solution. What does Kinect bring to the table for games that can't already be done with just a controller?

BUT...BUT... Think of all the possibilites!!!!

OFC it's a problem, but i'm sure there are clever ways to go around them. Didn't kinect get a finger tracking update or smth? he could try to code an invisible controler for the player to move D:

Definitely agree with you that it looks kind of cool and is one of the more bolder titles coming for Kinect but I have my doubts about how smooth the experience will be. I guess we'll know soon enough when we get to demo the game. I'm not quite sure if I would buy this right away. I need to see some reviews first.

Looks like a new trailer was released for it today also, now I really wanna play it lol, still not paying $150 to play one game though. But Dance Central has been tempting... but I need to save $ for PC

Looks like it works as long as you slow it way down to compensate for input lag and difficulty of responsiveness.

Furthermore, I don't really see how me being forced to be fully aware of my entire body while playing is supposed to enhance my experience.

I thought console players loved their couches, now they're gonna get screwed if their phone rings or the wife wants to know if they'd like a cup of coffee along with her's...

Wow, that Rise of Nightmares game actually looked kinda cool he

Looks like it works as long as you slow it way down to compensate for input lag and difficulty of responsiveness.

Furthermore, I don't really see how me being forced to be fully aware of my entire body while playing is supposed to enhance my experience.

I thought console players loved their couches, now they're gonna get screwed if their phone rings or the wife wants to know if they'd like a cup of coffee along with her's...

Just looks like a fun game for a drunken night with some buds lol :P

i still wonder what the hell were they thinking when they tried to make a device without any kind of controller, it was so obvious but they were too dumb to see it.

Bu, bu, but there's this tech demo I saw on the youtubes....

Should add this for Peter and Kinect's sake..... I thought that Fable game at E3 looked pretty cool. On rails? Yes. Cool? Yes. Something I'd like to do everyday? No.
