PGR4 looks just as good as GT5.

Could someone just quickly explain some details regarding the new GT game?

I've played the GT HD demo.

I know that they are releasing prologue before the end of this year.

My understanding is that GT5 will come out next year some time.

What will be the major difference between prologue and the version after that?

Also, whilst the HD demo played ok, I must say that I was very unimpressed by the static crowds around the track. It really did look bad to me. Has there been any announcemet from the GT developers on improving the graphics and animation of the crowd in the final version?

After playing F1 CE and then playing GT HD demo, I noticed that the sense of speed was far less in GT HD. I hope that they improve in those aspects for the final versions of the game.

GTHD has nothing in common with prologue or GT5, other than the GT name. It was a high res version of GT4.

Prologue will have 4 tracks and 40 cars if I'm not mistaken. Something close at any rate. It will be essentially GT5, less a few features, and many cars/tracks. It will be a free PSN download.

Then, GT5 will come with the full game...they say sometime next year, but I really wouldn't place my bet on that just yet. We'll see

PGR4 has more going on then GT5, the environments in PGR4 are fully rendered in 3D were as GT5 has alot of 2D models to keep the poly count down so the game can run smooth, but honestly when it comes to realism GT5 is the winner, And the car models are ******* amazing!!! So is the lighting. And you being a pc gamer i thought you would of realised that consoles arnt high end pcs, for a game to look good and run smoothly there has to be some cut backs, it GTs case the environments arnt fully rendered in 3D, the devs pull it off well though and i think it looks great.

Anyway, I'm a PC gamer too, and I think GT5 looks superior to PGR4. Also, my correct usage of the English language also lends credibility to my claim.

I don't think hes a hermit, hermits tend to no a thing or two about graphics, and he clearly knows nothing, does he think PGR4 has Superior graphics because its environments are fully 3D? GT5 has clear and crisp environments with an impressive draw distance, AMAZING car models with lighting that reacts almost perfectly with the cars and environments, he is just wrong, and this post has 100% no fanboyism, i don't even have a ps3.

Um no, significantly better my ***. PGR has both insane amounts of detail in both its cars and it's surroundings, of which rip GT5 a new one. The cars still look better in GT5 due to the amazing lighting effects, but its not clear and cut like it is against Forza 2...these two are much closer.

I'd be happy playing either game. The gfx in both of them is pretty much the best I've ever seen on consoles.

It would be awesome fun riding a motorcycle in PGR4. Last game I played from Bizarre was Metropolis Street Racer on Dreamcast. It's just awesome to see how the game has progressed.

I think its mainly the lighting that makes GT5 the more realistic looking game, having huge amounts of detail makes a game look great, but not always realistic.

I wish they'd devote more time to the cars and less to the environments. PGR3 environments were damn-near photorealistic but you could never tell as you're blasting around them at 100mph in a closed track.

They could easily take some detail away and add it to the cars and you wouldn't even tell it was gone.

The cars are highly detailed anyway, very close to GT5, but like i said, GT has better lighting making the cars look more realistic.

Same here. This is from a driving nut (not import street racer type though).

PGR rules.

Forza 2 - 7 / 10 - Too shiny, environments are good.

GT 5 - 8.5 / 10 - Duller (more realistic than ^) environments are also better.

PGR 4 - 9.5 / 10 - Great reflections not overly done like Forza and looks more like fibre glass than both Forza 2 and GT5 on the cars, environments are out of both of their leagues, the weather just brings it to the next level.

To me it foes like this PGR > Forza >>>Rally sport challenge >> Collin Mc Ray 4>>GTR2 > GTL >> GT >>> all other racing games.

The thing with PGR is that it does have very realistic driving model, but at the same time has modes from an arcade game. ANd all the cool rides. Makes this game a millioneers playground. Forza is too ugly and has to little tracks and has to little modes.

GT is just flat out boring, there has been no improvment from GT3 A Spec, the physics still looks lame, nothing new, to many stupid cars. It is not a driving sim, it is some sorta car wikipedia. It has rly good car models and looks very real, but pgr has this mean exagiration to make everything look expensive and fast.

PGT is a better looking andhas better gameplay(just cos it has bikes) then GT series ever had. To say other wise u must blind and dumb. If cows has PGR, oh boy they would hype it.

Havin seen a few vids of GT5 it does look nice but it looks a little too clean and clinical, PGR4 looks more 'alive' and real world.

On a side note, the vids of GT5 show cars racing and bumpin each other from the rear and sides in the corners and there's no consequences to the action, this in my eyes is ridiculous and totally spoils what should be a great game, the player has no incentive to drive/race cleanly because of the lack of consequences for not doin so.

PGR is good for a thrash around town type racer whilst Forza is the better game for sim action in my opinion.

Who cares? All racing sims play nearly identical.

Once you buy one I don't see the need for another one until another 3 years or more.

this brings up a good point, racing sims should play the same, because theyre a simulation of real life. if you compare the pgr 4 trailer to the gt 5 trailer, i think gt 5 is still graphically (and in terms of realism) better, we need to see some pgr 4 gameplay tocompare to gt 5 gameplay to properly compare them, my moneys on gt 5 coming out on top aswell when that happens.

One game runs at 60fps 1080p, the other games, the developers have to focus on locking it at 30fps :roll:

Anyways, GT5 still lokks better.

Yet people forget the fact that GT 5 prologue has only shown one track to the public so far, 16 cars on track, 1080p running at 60 FPS, and isn't the full game.

The full game will have many more features and will also be upgraded.
