I just hope that this time they remember that they are making a game not a training program for the Army. The controls for the last game were pretty much game breaking.

With the info released thus far, one thing I'm gonna miss in comparison to Arma 2 is fighting as the Russian army. They have the coolest equipment and uniforms, and playing them is a welcome break from the US-centric military games. Undoubtedly there'll be mods available soon enough, though.
[QUOTE="nameless12345"][QUOTE="lawlessx"] i once thought the Arma series was just another shooter...then i took a RPG to the knee:(:P

It's as much a shooter as it is a mil sim and a sandbox game. Add in there a powerful editor and you got yourself much more than just "another shooter" :)
The editor alone is worth picking up the game. That's what made me take interest in ARMA 2.

That's what the series suffer from in general. They don't know excatly who to appeal to. OFP (now renamed to Arma: Cold War Assault) was played by both, simulation and 3D shooter fans-alike whereas the later Arma games mostly appeal to simulation fans only. They should make it more a "game" and less a "simulation" imo (without loosing on or compromising the realism, of course).

Why not a Nam setting for a change? Modern warfare is covered by pretty much every other shooter these days.

Mods for Arma III will be as cool as ever I would imagine.

It could work, but the fun thing about a modern warfare setting is that you can use every weapon available. Although I could see how Arma 2's tactical combat could work very well in a Vietnam environment.

And it does. There is a really good Nam and WWII total conversion mod for the game.
STALKER always looks pretty, no matter what :xIs'nt the Arma series sort of like the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games and Skyrim, in regards to graphics? In the sense that both videos and screenshots can be beautifull, without telling the whole story, I mean;)
Don't take this the wrong way, all my Arma experience is from the Arma 2 demo; and that animation video did look really good.

There is? I've only downloaded a Vietnam map, which is pretty good. And I suppose you mean the 31st Normandy mod? It has some really good stuff, but it's a bit chaotic and of very varying quality. VIL's stuff is pretty top notch (WW2 era troops and such), but there's some very low-res, unfinished or even non-functional stuff in there as well.
Still a great mod when put to good use, though. I had a German section attack a Soviet-occupied town in Huertgenwald yesterday (very historically accurate, I know), and playing as a Soviet sniper, it was a very authentic WW2 experience. The combat AI is what sets it apart from your regular WW2 shooter.
too bad the game sucksHarisemo
Surely you mean the franchise sucks and not the game that hasn't been released yet.
Also they do not suck, they are just very different from normal shooting games. They are incredible once you elarn how to play them

He cant play it on 360, therefore it sucks. Just like the Witcher 2 did before that was announced for 360.

Try the I44 mod for ArmA 2. That's a very high quality WWII mod.

Of course. Great logic
I would rather play something like Crysis, or something with some imagination and not something thats super realistic and a total snoozefest. I'll patiently wait for Doom 4.
[QUOTE="MlauTheDaft"]STALKER always looks pretty, no matter what :x Yeah right, STALKER looks absolutely terrible in places while amazing in others. Fly upwards in RDR and see what the engine looks like :)
LOL-worthy in comparison.
It looks way better than Crysis. At least unmodded. That doesn't even look as good as Crysis 1. Its scale is what separates it from the rest.

RDR is about 8x3 K/M. The small island shown here is 19x19 k/m the main island in the game is said to be 600x600 k/m.

bull shots need to stop
I remember when i got my 4770 i ran to the store to buy crysis then found it to look no where near as good as the screen shots even on high settings.

How about you get a gpu or 2 that can actually max out demanding games.
BTW those pics are obviously done on a high end PC.

4770 is supposed to run Crysis on high in 1280x1024. To max out Crysis in high-res you need something like the 4870 X2 which was pretty expensive back then.

You should go back and read Wasdie post and my reply to him. He said consolites only have narrow corridor games. So I mentiond RDR to proved that it's not true. But I'm not sure if he's serious or not.ITT: Consolite fanboys waiving arms for attention in the shadow of a game they can't get

Yeah, yet narrow-minded PC-fanboys who do not understand that not all PC gamers have the latest rigs to run this game well are sooo much better, rite?
