VGA is analogue and has color issues on some TVs. HDMI is digital. They are not the same.

agreed.  HDMI can look brighter and more vibrant on TVs.  Most TVs VGA inputs are not done really well.

At this resolution, you are correct to a degree but if you look closely and compare pics I did earlier, there is better shadow detail that's apparent even in these small pics.  But you are right, in the living room, it's a different story.

Thanks to those that left nice comments. 56" of this TV (samsung DLP 1080p HL-S5687W) runs about 1899.00. Traded my premium for it and got 250. This thread was intended to shed some light as to whether or not HDMI provides an improvememnt. I can now say, my 360 games look as crisp as my ps3 games.treyeumph

If Microsoft has done anything right, it is that they support the latest technology. It's amazing that they can update a machine to play at a higher resolution.

Gears still runs at 720p, elite or not.  There shouldn't be any difference in the shadows.

indeed. resolution appreciation is a function of distance and the size of the screen. people waaaay overblow 1080p. unless your TV is bigger than 45" or unless you sit in front of it like a computer monitor (less than 2 feet away), you will not appreciate 1080p. simple fact. and yes, I can speak on it, as I have a 37" 720p/1080i TV and a 65" 1080p Mitz TV.

All games (even BC games) run at 1080p. It makes a huge difference. The perfect example is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

Whoever posted pics...Can you post KOTOR at 480p, 720p, and 1080p? Even with the photos, the difference will be drastic.

Not sure about BC games, but regular games are rendered at 720p and then upscaled to 1080p (unless they render natively at 1080p, but very few games do that).
