Excited to play this game! How about you, SW?
Typical Nintendo shovelware. What? You thought Nintendo is capable of producing 9/10 titles? Nah, its one or two per generations, and that's enough.
Pass. Probably won’t win any awards and have very low Twitch viewership. Literally trash. Disgusting.

Yeah **** this game. I can't play it now because this review confirms that Pikmin 4 will get no awards considerations, except for maybe Baby Game of the Year.
My faith in Nintendo is tarnished, which is especially shocking coming off the heels of Tears of the Kingdom.
@jaydan: **** this game, **** the Switch, and **** Nintendo. I’ve loved the numerous 9/10 and 10/10 games from Nintendo, especially the recent masterpiece TotK, but this is simply a bridge too far. I can’t abide this. *spits in disgust*
So it's too game-y?
Not enough cutscenes, voice acting and mo-cap…
In other words, a game that cost them $5000 to develop.

We don’t play development budgets, we play games…
And why aren’t we using the 88 MC score with this game like we do with all the Xbox and PS games? Is Nintendo the only one we hold to the old SW standard?

Yeah what the ****. This is just a bad aftertaste for TotK and it tastes like ****. Like even if TotK wins GOTY, it won't ****ing matter knowing Nintendo could **** up and put out **** like this.
**** you Nintendo, and you almost had me. Your hardware is **** and this is my final straw.

When a game is this cheap to develop, you sell it at indie prices, not full fat $60.
@hardwenzen: You are Salty that Nintendo is crushing Sony this year! 😂
With a 7/10? I mean, to be honest, 7/10 is still better than your flagship game, so i shouldn't be negative.
@hardwenzen: Halo Infinite got a 9 here. 😆
9/10 games don't get their whole dev team fired AND its multiplayer, the most important portion of the game, is far from a 9 lmao. Nice try, tho.
Why does this game have an 88 Meta anyway? I hear it's a simplified version of an already simple formula. If it were any more childish, it would come with a copy of Bluey season 1

Looks like GS is the one that gave it the lowest score and while I get the jest everyone here is just messing around with the 7 score but the truth is, never take GS reviews seriously. Anyway, I haven't played a Pikmin game since the good old days on Gamecube. Will eventually pick up Pikmin 4 but not on launch day.
@davillain: SonySpot always low balling Nintendo games. If you look at every single Nintendo game ever reviewd by GameSpot, they usually always have the lower score. We use to make fun of SonySpot during the DS and 3DS era with their clickbait low scoring.

What about a gripping emotional story?
I’ve never been gripped or made emotional by any of these stories out here…
Gamespot's review was one that I personally don't agree with, but 7 is still not a bad score. IMO Final Fantasy XVI deserved a 5 or a 6, but they went with a 9. That being said Metacritic and the consensus seems to matter quite a bit to GOTY Awards.
Final Fantasy went down from an 88 to an 87 and is really fighting with Hi-Fi Rush (IMO is a way better game than FFXVI) and now Pikmin 4 an alleged "shovel ware" title as said by trolls with no life on the Internet. Repetitive FFXVI couldn't box five seconds with Tears of the Kingdom for GOTY and that's just it. If FF couldn't do it, you know Spider-Man can't either... especially with more recent impressions of that game...
We are down to Starfield vs Tears of the Kingdom for GOTY.
You don't have to like the facts, but tell me where I lie!
Looks and sounds better than a 7/10 to me. The negative doesn't sound like a negative at all. Dandori challenges are supposed to offset the normal gameplay afaik, not something that's out of place. But I dunno until I play it. I really enjoyed the battle mode in Pikmin 2 against friends. Should be pretty fun against AI too.

Reviews are like, well you know. We all have one.
There's just something about the Pikmin series that, imo, shows an interesting side of Nintendo.

Raging in the comments section, raging on SW. Bro, what's going on?
@pixievalerie: yes, the GS reviewers got brainwashed by the movie games on Sony systems. Now they only rate highly cinematic movie games a 9+ or higher. Disappointing to be honest.
Hmm lower than expected. The other review I saw (Eurogamer) loved it.
I'll be picking it up later in the year. Too much on the plate right now to be buying more games. If i want physical games then i need to go online now (dammit gamestop....i never appreciated you and your nickle and diming...*sniff*). So later in the year i will probably get TOTK, Pikmin 4, Luigis Mansion 3 and a couple of others in one patch. That should be the last hurrah for my switch then.
Pikmin was charming and kind of original back in the Gamecube era, but right now, i can't think of enough reasons to be hyped for anything this franchise does.
Pikmin has become my favorite Nintendo IP. It is unique, the environments are beautifully crafted, it’s quirky and amusing, it exemplifies what I love most about Nintendo.....their creativity and willingness to think outside the box (not only hardware, but game concepts as well), and I find it to be a peaceful, relaxing RTS. Hardly a "chore", as GS puts it, I find it incredibly enjoyable to lead my own plant army and have them doing various tasks at once. There's much enjoyment to be found in allocating resources to different tasks and watch them work. It’s one of the most gratifying series of games I’ve ever played.
I can understand the 7, as Pikmin is pretty niche and has a limited appeal. But I love it, and don't care what scores it gets. It's, IMO, Miyamoto at his best. Downloading now.
@madsnakehhh: Your missing out mate, this the best one yet. And how can you not like Bingo Pikmin?
Refer to my first post, this franchise is the definition of ... meh.
Nintendo’s chief designer, Shigeru Miyamoto, has discussed the historical performance of the Pikmin games and why he thinks the series hasn’t “exploded” commercially like some of the company’s other franchiseshttps://t.co/Gn4FGmmAwHpic.twitter.com/9SakIcNK82

@hardwenzen: Diablo 4? The game where Blizzard literally dropped the ball in the latest patch angering everyone?
Oh nooooooooo! Nerds are mad because their broken build dealing 15mil per hit is now doing standard damage like every other class! So mad, i am soo soo mad, bro.
D4 is not YET ruined. When it is, i'll let y'all know.
I love it when reviewers here get bothered by a certain mechanic or puzzle or difficulty level of a game and automatically it's a 7 or less, lol.
Can't wait to play it.
Lmao, Gamespot... if it had way more cutscenes and less gameplay, it'd be a 10/10.
Anyway, I'm loving it. Plays very well & looks great. They've refined the Pikmin formula to perfection.
