Yes I know it's still in beta, but as some of the Rare Replay games have shown, backwards compatibility is not looking so hot for some games. For example:

Perfect Dark Zero https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZdIzwFPfhE

Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktlfJjKZmXY

Some games do not drop in framerate, or are actually better

Viva Pinata https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPq-kldCGFg

Kameo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHanSbjgfTI

I haven't gotten to see or try any of the Gears games through backwards compatibility, any reports?

Anyway, as an Xbone owner this gen who didn't have a 360 last gen, I was looking forward to getting to play a few games I missed out on. Now I'm pretty discouraged. This is looking to be a big mixed bag, unless they find a way to improve it by November.

Not worried at all for a couple of reasons....for one, I will rarely use it ( although I still think it's a great feature for those who will ) and two, I think they will iron most of the kinks out.

@drummerdave9099: The feature isn't finished. Like you said, it's still in beta.

I hope it improves, Xbox BC on the Xbox 360 was worse but that doesn't excuse this. If freeing up system resources by disabling the record feature improves the BC performance I'd rather opt for that. If I really cared to capture video then I'd get a capture device. Sorry to say it, but I highly doubt they'll fix it. The kind of QA stuff they'll be doing between now and launch is just experimental like if I try to change dash background while a BC game is open cause the system to default its closed caption setting to ON, and that bullshit.

People always complaining about remasters but I don't see what the problem is. If ya don't want them don't buy them.

Looks fine to me.

You don't mind when games you're playing jump all over the place between 18 and 30 fps?

Go get Rare Replay if you haven't yet and try Nuts and Bolts, it's unbearable at times

Yeah but how can people who praise a $60 remaster that looks identical then say "meh who cares about BC".

I already saw these bugs coming months ago when BC was announced and tried to explain emulation issues to fanboys, but what a mistake it was...it is what it is.

It's limited BC. There is 100 games being readied for November with more planned. Some games will be buggy and not all the publishers are on board so the Xbone will NEVER be able to play the entire 360 catalog. We already saw this wit the 360. It got to 50% BC before being silently cut off. There will be a time when Xbone BC will also be cut off, it won't be worth pursuing for M$ as it costs money. That time will be when the Xbone will have a huge library of current gen games and won't need the 360 limited BC last gen games to fill the library anymore.

While BC is nice for those Xbone owners that refuse to own a 360, it's not going to fulfill the hunger of playing Xbone titles.

As I said now hundreds of times since 2005, I buy new hardware to play new hardware games. BC was a novelty for me and the Wii, PS2, Atari, 360 (which was also 50% and buggy), PS3, Wii U, etc.

Personally, I spent $500 for my Xbone for Xbone games. New software, new experiences. I have my multiple 360s when I want to play those.

On top of that, I don't like the idea of buying a brand new Xbone and wearing it out buy playing old cheapy 360 games when I have old cheapy 360 machines instead. My new hardware gets treated well.

If you want to play 360, I highly recommend buying a 360. It will play all the games, not a limited batch, and it will play those games flawlessly.

Well, I don't agree with that either.

Speaking of X1 bc I'm still amazed it even works. I never thought X1 was powerful enough to emulate X360 games. I've heard before that when it comes to emulation for it to work really well ya want your machine to be 10X as powerful as what you're emulating. And X1 is only around half that vs the X360, probably less when ya match the CPUs. Coding sorcery.

I just noticed that in my "Game ready to be installed" list.. there was a 360 title there called "Defense Grid"

I don't remember buying this game (perhaps it was a Games with Gold title that I got as I get the 360 ones by logging in my computer). Installed it and it ran great. Mind you it is not a graphically intense game.

I'm pretty sure any games that use more GPU than CPU will run better on xbox One, but the more demanding games that use a lot of CPU will run much worse.

There is no way the Xbox One can fully emulate the the 360 CPU at full speed.

Of course, what did you expect from lazy emulation?

This will be forgotten and abandoned in a year.

I'm going to wait for it to be completely "released" in November, but I will admit, I was very disappointed that Nuts and Bolts was rendered essentially unplayable on the Xbox One. I really wanted to get back into that game, but it often seemed like it was dropping down to an FPS in the single digits, plus the screen tearing and audio glitches were unacceptable. I know it was one of the prettiest released games for the 360, but I'm surprised at the apparent difficulty they're having emulating it.
