The PS2 didn't ruin those games, the Publishers/Developers ruined those games. I feel your point, but there is a STORY for all of those games.
Trust me, I saw that happen, and looked into each one. :)
Still, I can see the PS1>PS2, they both were #1 in Quality Exclusives for their day, and the sales have been brought up by salesmongers too.
It's all about the games, and those systems had the multiplat, but most importantly a ton of high quality exclusives (like the NES, SNES, etc.)
You can't just the PS2 just by the franchises that were ruined after they were taken away from their original developers (I'm looking at you Spyro). The PS2 has so many great IPs.
Some really great games on PS1 but I enjoyed the PS2 lifespan allot more. (and still do)
I know it dont work that way in SW but I consider PS1 games part of PS2 library and I have a BC PS3 as well. So each gen has just built on the other for me.
No. 2,000 games and 140 million sold dont lie. PS2 is arguably the best system ever.bronxxbombers
I'm going to have to agree with this. No other console really compares, imo..not even the PS1.

I'd trade 2,000 games for 100 great games any dayI think yes if you consider the amount of impact it made. I mean Resident Evil was way back in like '96 !
But the ps2 has God of War and Devil May Cry , so I don't know if that balances it.
I say NES is the most important console ever, and then PSX, it made the second revolution.
I'd trade 2,000 games for 100 great games any day1995rox
Sure, many great franchises started on the PS1..but the PS2 had far far more "great" games, imo.

I'd trade 2,000 games for 100 great games any day I can guarantee to you, the PS2 had more AAA,AA, and A games then the PS1.PS1 had FF7, probably the most hailed RPG of all time.1995rox
Hailed by fanboys sporting nostalgia goggles, fondly remembering their first Final Fatasy game?
I've played mostly everything in the FF franchise and it's not even in my top 3 FF games (Which would probably be Tactics, FFVI and FFIX.)
EDIT: I think the game is good, but highly overrated. But that's another thread.

See, there's this little thing called "opinion.."
Tactics was also on the Ps1, so you just contradicted yourselfTactics was also on the Ps1, so you just contradicted yourself1995rox
Durr, so was IX. But how did I contradict myself?
I was just addressing that single point: FF7 isn't even the best Final Fantasy game imo, much less best the RPG of all time. So it's never going to be some massive "pro" for the PS1 in my mind.
As I said in the edit above: the game is very good, but massively overrated..but that's another thread.
I'm not so sure.
There are some really, really great PS1 games that seem to outshine even the best on the PS2. But then the PS2 has a lot of really great games. And honestly, I have a much larger PS2 library.
Regardless, probably the top two greatest consoles in existence.

FF7 was considered to be a great game since it's release. It's actually much less popular now (it went from being universally respected to generally scorned).

Yeah, I'll agree with that.

I wasn't trying to suggest that it isn't great. It is.
[QUOTE="SilverChimera"]yes, spot on. PS1 > all consoles.SAGE_OF_FIREN64... Snes :|
PS1 had a lot more great games than N64 believe it or not.
As for SNES, well, I think the games were better on PS1.
Nothing except Crash and Spyro interested me(I might have been interested in Silent Hill, but i never noticed it).I loved the N64 a lot more. I also like the PS2 a lot more also.
PS2 had MGS2 & 3, SMT3, Persona 3 & 4, Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2, Sly Cooper Series, Ratchet Series, Jak Series, Kingdom Hearts series, Team Ico Games, Tales of the Abyss, GTA3 - San Andreas...sorry but I have to disagree.

I approve of this post.
so do I.

I'd trade 2,000 games for 100 great games any daywhat he said.. Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Legends of mana are greater than anything on the ps2. I can continue, but I'm lazy. imo btw xD
i think PS1 & PS2 are on par, though PS2 gets a slight edge in terms of quantity/quality... PS3 needs some more quantity, cause when it comes to quality imo its offerings were great specially in the past 2 yrs..

The Ps1 had Spyro, Crash, Croc, Tomb Raider, MGS, RE, Silent Hill, and FF. The Ps2 ruined all of those games, it's ironic that what made the Ps1 enjoyable, was butchered on the Ps2. And that most people prefer the Ps2. why?1995rox
YEAH! PS1 FTW.
But no seriously, the PS1 is my most favorite console of all time.
Even though the PS2 was awsome, it just cant beat that magic/awesomness the PS1 brought forth in the second half of te 90's.
Both had so much quality and quantity.
